"Okay, so I've got Granny headed over here at 9:00. You've got books, food, water…do you need a bell, Princess?" Emma smiled at her wife, knowing she was poking the bear. A bear that luckily couldn't come after her.

"It's Queen to you. And I don't need a bell because I can do this…" Regina smiled evilly at her wife.

"Aaarghh…What the hell Regina?" Emma rubbed at her ears, the sound of church bells echoing in her head.

"I'll ring if I need you." Regina smoothed the bedspread next to her, the motion making her look as innocent as possible in the moment.

Emma shook her head at her wife's antics. She'd only been confined to her bed for 12 hours and it was already going down hill. Emma had quickly figured out that a bored Regina was absolutely no fun-for her. "I'm changing the subject, because this is clearly amusing you to much. How exactly did you get Granny to agree to being interim-mayor anyway?"

"We discussed it like any business minded people would. I told her she was my only choice and she agreed. She wants to see if Ruby can handle running the diner by herself because she's looking at retiring. We both win."

"Why was she your only choice? I bet my mom would have…never mind. I can see the problems with that…"

Regina laughed, a welcome sight for Emma. "Yes, well I believe that Eugenia is more equipped to handle the day to day business of running the town then even your mother. She's had over 30 years experience running the diner and surprisingly running a town isn't much different. Besides, because she is looking to retire I don't have to worry about her trying to keep the position once I'm ready to return."

"Those are all very valid and logical reasons. You're positive that it didn't have anything to do with wanting to see her face off against the council?" Emma added a smirk, knowing full well any time Regina decided something there were multiple layers to it.

"Perhaps. A girl has to have a little fun. Now don't you have to get to work? You need to make sure the station is ready for you to be on maternity leave as well." Regina smiled indulgently at Emma, wanting her to be able to leave and not worry about her all day.

"Yeah, I'm going. It's funny-if that whole same-sex maternity leave thing hadn't been signed into law a few years ago I would have said you did it just for us…" Emma baited, hoping Regina would tell her if she had this exact thing in mind when she did it.

"Are you asking if I had the foresight to sign in a law 3 years ago knowing we would be having magical babies together at some point? That would have been awfully presumptuous of me."

"Well, we all know you plan for the long game Regina Swan-Mills. I love you and I will see you later." Emma kissed her wife thoroughly, missing her before she even walked out the door. Her non-admission to the law's roots was as much of an admission as Emma was going to get. Something about Regina thinking this had been a possibility for a lot longer than the reality had been in play gave her a very warm, loving feeling in the bottom of her stomach and the twinkle in Regina's eye meant she felt it too.

"Damn it Regina!" Emma stomped her foot, fists clenched at her sides, as the purple smoke cleared. "I told you, you couldn't just poof me home whenever you wanted. I was in the middle of something."

Unamused with Emma's antics, Regina simply pointed to the mirror above their dresser. There was a perfect view of Emma sitting in her office chair, legs resting on top of her desk and one hand covering her left eye.

"Okay, okay. We don't have to watch this…" Emma said, suddenly much more contrite.

"Oh, but I'd like to see if you make the basket…" Regina said, smirking.

"Well, I didn't so it doesn't matter…I was just taking a little break…" Emma made her way over to the bed and sat down beside her wife. "I thought I got all the mirrors out of my office…" She mumbled under her breath to herself.

"Shoes off the bed."

Emma rolled her eyes at her wife and leaned down to her belly. "Can you guys hurry up please? Your mom is driving me insane…" She whispered. The slap to the back of her head cut off any more conversation with the babies. Leaning back up she gave her wife a quick peck on the lips, smiling widely. "So why'd you poof me home?"

Regina handed Emma a stack of papers. "I need you to take this to your mother and explain to her that just because she's the grandmother it doesn't mean she can just circumvent the interview process. If she's still interested in the job she needs to complete this and bring it by tomorrow morning."

Emma took the sheets of paper and flipped through them, glancing at the questions. "Regina, you can't ask her if she's ever killed anyone's mother."

"I can. It's a valid question. Besides, I'm not just asking your mother. I'm asking all the applicants. It's not my fault she has a habit of offing people's mothers."

"She's the only one who even wants to be our nanny, Regina. So you kind of are just asking her."

Regina ripped the papers out of Emma's hands and scowled at her wife. "Fine, I'll just poof myself over there and explain things to her if you're going to be so soft."

Emma grabbed the papers back from Regina and huffed. "You know you can't go over there. I'll do it, but I'm not telling her she has to answer all of this." Emma waved the stack of papers for emphasis.

"All of this is important. We're talking about the person who we will be trusting with our children's well being."

"Fine. Anything else you need while I'm out?" Emma asked, getting up from the bed.

"No, I think you've set me up quite well already, dear." Regina smiled at her wife, all irritation gone from her expression.

Emma knew that she couldn't be irritated with Regina for too long. She was only trying to make sure Snow knew her place before she started watching the kids. And if that meant surviving a terrifying interview process then so be it. They were both on edge and anxious for the twins to come and the sooner the better. "Alright, I love you." She leaned down and gave her wife another kiss before she left.

"Love you too." Regina called after her, a hint of amusement coloring her tone. Tomorrow would at least be entertaining. She couldn't wait to grill her mother-in-law.

"Regina?" Snow knocked lightly on the bedroom door. Yesterday when Emma told her to bring her application back she hadn't told her what time Regina would be expecting her.

"Come in." Regina said, using her Mayoral voice. She was sitting up in bed and had insisted that she put on, at the very least, a nice dress shirt this morning. Snow didn't need to know she wasn't wearing any pants under the covers.

Snow made her way into the bedroom, pulling a chair up close to the bed and she dropped the stack of papers down beside Regina. "Here's your questionnaire. All filled out." Snow smiled brightly at Regina. She'd had fun last night filling in each answer with as much sarcasm as possible.

Regina eyed her suspiciously and picked up the stack, flipping through it to see what Snow had written. She could see immediately that Snow hadn't taken this questionnaire seriously and she was going to have fun picking her apart. "It looks to be finished. Shall we begin?" When Snow simply nodded her head Regina began. "I see here that under 'Have you ever done anything inappropriate in front a child?' you wrote: No, are you kidding me? We both know that's not true." Regina eyed Snow blatantly, waiting for a response. When none came she answered for her. "You once allowed my son to witness you and Charming having relations." The word rolling off her tongue like it was leaving a bad taste in her mouth.

"Oh, well that was an accident…and the curse just broke…and…" Snow stuttered.

Regina cut her off before she could continue. "So it's okay to accidentally allow a child to witness that? A child I might add that had a good deal of questions for both Emma and I after that."

"No it's not okay, but…"

"Next question." Regina cut her off again without so much as a second glance. "It says here that you have one daughter. Could you tell me about your experience as a mother?" Regina smiled at Snow, the gesture not reaching her eyes.

"I don't think that's fair to ask. It was your fault that I didn't get to raise her." Snow huffed, clearly not enjoying herself anymore.

"Fair enough. How about this? If someone was attempting to kidnap my children would you shove them into a portal to the unknown without really knowing if they would be better off or try to keep them with you?"

"Damn it Regina!" Snow huffed again, her arms crossing defensively.

"That's a silly question. We both know the answer to that one. How about something a little easier?" Regina made a show of perusing the questionnaire before continuing. "Tell me why you believe you are qualified to watch my children."

Snow smiled triumphantly. "It's right there." Snow gestured to the papers in Regina's hands.

Regina narrowed her eyes at Snow. "Yes, it does say here I'm the Grandmother. So what you're saying is that if Cora were alive she'd be just as qualified to be their nanny?" Regina gave a cutting look at Snow as she paused dramatically, as if trying to remember something. "But that's right. You killed her. Silly me."

Snow took a deep breath and decided that Regina had had her fun for the day. She'd promised Emma last night to let Regina at least have her way with her for a little while and let her have some fun. Fun time was over. "Cut the crap, Regina. We both know that no one else applied for this job. Mostly because of your outrageous qualifications, which I might add included "being a queen that married a shepherd." Sounds like you might have actually tried to single everyone else out. We also both know that despite everything else between us there is no one else that you would trust with your kids more than me."

Regina stared at Snow thinking over her options. She had hoped that she'd get a little more entertainment out of interviewing her, but she knew she was right. There was no one else she would trust more. "Fine."

"Fine."

Another beat went by before Regina spoke again. "I need a favor."

"Seriously?" Snow couldn't believe Regina's audacity. "What?" She asked when Regina only continued to stare at her.

"I need you to get me some pants." Regina mumbled, embarrassed by her request.

"What?" Snow squeaked.

"You already said that! Get me some fucking pants, Snow!" Regina screamed, her sudden outburst startling Snow. She took a deep breath before continuing, trying to make herself sound nicer. "Could you please get me some pants. And then I'm going to need a ride to the hospital, my water just broke."
