A/N: Oh lord. It has been so long since I updated. A ridiculous amount of time really. I have actually been attempting to reflect on and remember where exactly I was attempting to go with this story. I have actually changed my pen name several times during this process, so in case you all do not remember, I was Lady Akina of the West and then (Kaguya Taishou I think) then Kaguya Hiroshi. Lastly, I have just decided to take the pen name, which also is my OC's name as well, just to make things simpler.
However, I have seen all of the reviews (yes, I read all of them during my …*coughs* ridiculously long hiatus from this story and all of the others). I appreciate everyone's continued support and offers of ideas to spark my inspiration. Hopefully this is a pleasant and welcome surprise; I will be continuing this story. So, without further ado, here is Chapter 4.
Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha or Vampire Knight; those are owned by Rumiko Takahashi and Matsuri Hino respectively. I just play around with the characters a bit. xD
Chapter 4: Early Rising
Early the next morning, there came a knock on the door as Kagome fumbled with the neck tie that she had been attempting to tie properly for the last five minutes. With one hand still holding the tie, she walked over to the door and flipped the lock. Grasping the knob, she turned it and opened the door, only to be met with the site of a girl shorter than her, with dark brown hair and rich, mahogany colored eyes. The girl in question waved to her cheerily as she offered a bright smile, before chirping sweetly.
"Good morning! I take it that you are Kagome, the new exchange student! It's very nice to meet you! My name is Yuuki!" Yuuki rambled excitedly in her upbeat tone.
Thrusting her hand forward in a welcoming gesture, the small brunette left a rather dazed and mildly startled Kagome staring in surprise. It was a moment before Kagome managed to take the girl's hand and shake it slowly.
"Good...morning. I did not mean to be rude. I am just," Kagome searched for something to say in order to refrain from seeming rude. "Having a problem with tying this."
Kagome gestured with her hand towards the now abandoned, red tie which hung limply around her neck beneath her collar. Tilting her head, Yuuki offered a sweet smile as she waved a hand in reply to the girl's explanation, for which Kagome was glad. She had not wanted to offend the head master's daughter after all.
"That is fine! Actually, I can help you with that. Here." Yuuki replied before stepping forward.
Reaching up, the girl took the ends of the tie and with deft fingers that were obviously experienced at this particular task, she tied off the tie into an even bow. Stepping back, the petite girl flashed a bright smile as she put her hands on her hips while eyeing her handiwork with satisfaction.
"There you go!" She exclaimed. "Now. We had better get to the dining hall, before breakfast is over or else all of the food will be gone!"
Without waiting for an answer, the brunette grabbed a rather stunned Kagome's hand and towed her along.
Breakfast had been a rather uneventful affair. When Yuuki and Kagome had arrived in the dining hall, a golden-brown haired girl had waved them over to an empty spot at the table she was seated at. Upon approaching the table, Kagome had learned that the girl was named Yori and that she was both Yuuki's best friend and roommate. All during their meal, Yuuki and Yori had chattered and rambled pleasantly, hardly seeming to notice the raven haired girl's silence. As they ate, Yuuki had proceeded to go through the day's class schedule, explaining the rules and describing the teachers in detail, along with Yori.
Towards the end of breakfast, a prickling sensation had danced along the back of Kagome's neck, setting the fine hairs on edge.
'This sensation…' She thought to herself. 'It is like last night with…'
Before she could finish her thought, a shadow fell over the table from behind her. Yuuki looked up, pausing mid-conversation with Kagome and Yori to scowl.
"Zero! Breakfast is almost done, classes will be starting soon, and you are just now coming to breakfast?!" Yuuki exclaimed with annoyance.
Turning in her seat slightly, Kagome cast a look over her shoulder hesitantly. Her gaze settled on the silver haired boy behind her, immediately recognizing his familiar face from the night before. 'Kiryuu' was what he had been called by the almost rabid group of girls, if she recalled correctly. Today however, the silver haired, lilac eyed youth was rather groggy looking, if not downright grumpy in countenance. Completely ignoring Yuuki's reprimand with a shrug of his shoulders, Zero grabbed a piece of toast and put it in his mouth. If not for his brooding mood, Kagome would have laughed at the almost comedic sight.
Realizing that she would not get a response out of the boy, Yuuki put her hands against the table and with an irritated sigh, pushed back as she rose to her feet. Putting on a bright smile, she clapped her hands together.
"Time for the first class!"
Alright. I know. Short chapter. However, I just wanted to update again as soon as possible before I lost the feel for it. I will more than likely update very soon. I am just trying not to get in too far over my head. :) Until next time~!
