It was finally the weekend once again and that horrible week had finally ended. Lita was happy she had three days off and didn't work again until Tuesday morning. The days off were much needed. She was really tired and didn't want to do anything at all which was why when Adam suggested he take Ethan for the weekend she easily agreed. She did miss spending time with Ethan during the week, but she didn't think she would be able to give him her full attention because she was so tired, so she didn't argue with Adam at all. He told her he would drop Ethan off on Sunday which was the next day.
"Hey Li," Dawn said a bit too cheery for the other woman if you asked her when she let the brunette in her home.
Lita sighed. "Hey Dawn." She closed the door behind them and followed her friend to the couch in the living room.
Dawn frowned as Lita sat down beside her on the couch. The redhead's reply made it seem like something was disturbing her. "What's wrong?"
Lita shook her head. "Nothing."
Too bad Dawn didn't believe her. "Don't lie to me. If something wasn't wrong, then you wouldn't be lounging in your sweats with your hair all messy. And a half eaten carton of ice-cream on the table. Seriously. What's wrong?"
"Nothing," she repeated once again, getting up from the couch so she could put said ice-cream carton back in the freezer. "I'm just tired," she continued when she sat down next to Dawn again. "You know I went through hell week at work."
"I really don't believe you. I'm going to keep bothering you until you tell me what's wrong, so just save us both the trouble and tell me now."
Lita stared at Dawn for a moment and then she looked away. It had been bothering her for a while so she thought maybe she should just tell Dawn what she was thinking about. "Did Adam ever ask you or Christian about me? You know, after he left... when he was away." She still wasn't looking at Dawn, rather choosing to look at the black screen on the television.
"Where did this come from?"
"I don't know. I can't stop thinking about... I don't know. I just..."
"Yes," Dawn said when Lita trailed off and found sudden interest in playing with her nails, making it seem like she wasn't going to continue. "He asked Christian like basically every time when he talked to him." Lita said nothing so Dawn decided to continued. "He always asked how you were doing and if you were okay." She stopped, waiting for Lita to say something, but when she didn't... "Why do you ask?"
"Because I thought about him so much. Every single day. And I just... I just wanted to know."
"Is there a reason why you're bringing this up now?"
Lita finally looked up at Dawn once again and stared at her for the longest time with the latter waiting patiently for her friend to speak. "Okay, so don't judge me when I tell you this. It's kind of stalkerish, I was a stalker. If someone did it to me, then I would be creeped out, but I had to do it, there was no other way. So like-"
"Li," Dawn put her hands on her friends shoulders trying to stop her from rambling. "Calm down. Take a deep breath and calm did." Lita did just that and Dawn continued once again. "Okay. I will not judge you whatever it is. Just take your time and tell me. Okay?"
"Yea, okay," Lita nodded. She took a moment to collect her thoughts before she began telling Dawn what exactly made her a stalker. "I hired a private investigator to find Adam."
"You did what?" Dawn asked surprised. This was not something she was expecting, but now she could see why Lita said she did something that could constitute her as a stalker.
"I told you it makes me sound like a stalker, but I did it for a good reason."
Dawn shook her head. "No, I'm just surprised, that's all. I'm sure you had a good reason for it. When and why?"
Lita nodded as she continued. "Well, it wasn't a one time thing and it was the same guy every time. It started when Ethan turned one because I thought Adam should know about him having a son and I wanted to tell him. I wanted to know where he was so I could tell him about Ethan in person if he wasn't too far. Actually I probably would have done that no matter where he was, as long as he was in the Country. Anyways, Christian didn't tell me anything when I asked him the first time, so I knew he wouldn't tell me then either so I didn't bother to ask him." She paused for a moment before she resumed with her little story. "I was just thinking how I could find him and the first thing that came in mind was that a private investigator could help me with that. I went online and found one. I had a meeting with him and had to give him a whole bunch on information that I had about Adam, like his name, birthday, picture, stuff like that. A bit over a month had passed and he told me he couldn't find any trace of Adam anywhere in the Country. I told him to only check in the States because Christian did say Adam was still in the States and it's not like he went back to Canada or something. So that was that and then I hired him once again when Ethan turned two because I thought maybe he would be able to find something else because a year had went by." She took a much needed breath before she continued once again. "But nothing. Actually, not nothing, he found someone named Edge," she missed the look of shock on Dawn's face since she wasn't looking at her at the moment. Had she seen it, she might have found out about who Edge was, "and he asked me if he should continue with it and see who this Edge person was and I said no because I wasn't about to continue paying him for someone I knew wasn't Adam." Dawn simply nodded, not saying anything, thinking what would have happened if Lita told the guy she hired to continue looking at who Edge was. "And then his third birthday," Lita continued with a noticeable frown on her face "that's when he found Adam. And Torrie."
"Oh my God," was all a shocked Dawn was able to say, her eyes widening to match her shocked feeling. So Lita already knew about Torrie? Then why did she get angry when I told her?
"Yea, that was my exact reaction when I saw..." she shook her head as she trailed off, then continued, "when I saw the pictures of the two together. I knew where he was and.. ugh," she groaned as she put her heads in her hands and shook her head again. "I knew where he was," she said looking back up at Dawn. "I could have went and told Adam, I had his exact address and everything, but I just couldn't go to Idaho and she him with another woman. I saw the pictures of him and it made me smile because I... it just made me happy seeing him again. He looked different with his hair cut. I remember always joking with him about cutting his hair, he always said he would never do it, but he did. And then I saw pictures of him and Torrie looking way too cozy and it... it broke my heart... all over again. And then when you let it slip about her, it was like dejavu and I... it sucked."
Dawn looked at her friend with sad eyes. "Why didn't you ever tell me about this before?"
Lita shrugged. "I don't know. No, that's a lie. I guess I just wanted to officially get over him when I saw him with her so I didn't want to bring it up." Dawn stayed quiet, she didn't know what to say. Fortunately, or maybe not so much, the redhead broke the silence. "Why did she have to be so pretty? She's gorgeous. No wonder it was easy for him to forget about me."
"Lita, stop. Don't... he didn't forget about you. When Christian and I went to go visit him while he was still with Torrie, he asked about you. He always asked about you. Like I told you, he was trying to get over you by getting together with her. She meant nothing to him and you told me he even told you that."
"I know, but still."
"You have to tell him you're still in love with him, I'm sure he'll say the same."
Lita looked at Dawn with a glare present on her face. "No I do not."
Dawn rolled her eyes. "Yes you do."
"No I do not."
"Yes you do."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"I hate you."
Dawn smirked. "But you love Adam."
"No. Like I told you before, if it weren't for Ethan, I would never talk to him. And I mean it."
Dawn shook her head. "No. That's not true at all. Don't lie to yourself. It's okay that you still love him."
"But I don't."
"Dawn rolled her eyes yet again. "Fine, keep lying to yourself." She glanced over to the clock in the room. "I have to go now," she said getting up from the couch. "I only came for a few minutes so I could see you. It's been a while." Lita simply nodded. Dawn knew her friend was still upset, but there was nothing she could do. She hated feeling like she couldn't help her friend feel better. She was about to open the door before she turned around. "How about I don't go home and we can just have a girls night together. We can just stay in and talk or something."
Lita shook her head. "No. I just want to sleep."
"Okay, bye." With that said, Dawn left. She didn't argue with Lita any further because it would do no good and she knew Lita's hell week from work ended earlier that day and probably did just want and need some sleep. She hoped her friend would talk to her more when things were getting to her. More so, she hoped that Lita would stop being stubborn and actually listen to Adam about why he left. It didn't look like that was going to happen any time soon.
"Hey sweetie," Lita greeted Ethan when he, along with Adam, showed up to the apartment the next afternoon.
"Hi mommy," he smiled and hugged her. "I missed you."
"I missed you too." The hug ended with him and Adam making their way fully into the apartment. "Did you have fun with daddy?" He nodded with the smile still present on his face.
"Ethan, how about you go put your things away in your room, I have to talk to mommy."
"Okay," Ethan said, going off to do just what he was told.
"What's up?" Lita asked when her and Adam were sitting on the couch.
It took him a while, but he finally spoke up, looking at her. "My mom wants to meet Ethan."
"Oh," was all Lita said for the moment before she spoke up again. "You told her about him?"
He nodded. "Yes. A couple of days before Ethan found out about me."
"Okay, well, obviously she can meet him. I'm sure she wants to meet her grandson, I'm not going to keep them away from one another. Why are you asking me that?" That's when she thought she knew what he was about to ask her. "No," she shook her head. "You are not taking him out of Country. I am not letting you take him to Canada with you."
He shook his head. "You misunderstood. I'm not asking if I can take him to Canada. I... he hasn't been away from you for more than two days at most, I'm not about to start that by taking him out of Country. I just wanted to know if it would be okay if he stayed with me during his Thanksgiving break. My mom wants to come down here and I told her he was about to be off from school for a week in like two weeks and she wanted to spend some time with him and get to know him during that week."
"You want him to stay with you for that whole week?"
"I mean, it doesn't have to be that whole week, but I would like it if he spent some time with my mom. If he starts missing you too much or something, I can bring him back here since I am like only ten minutes away."
"A whole week."
He saw how she looked reluctant in agreeing to the whole week stipulation, so he decided he could change that. "Lita, it doesn't have to be that long. Like I said, just a couple of days is fine, but I wanted to ask you if it was okay.
Lita sighed before she answered him. "Yes. You can take him for that week. But I want him that first weekend and then you can have him that week."
"So I was thinking he wouldn't have to go to Dawn's for daycare during that week then since my mom would be with him the first two days, but then I'm off the next three days so it would be fine."
"Seems like you thought it through."
He nodded. "I did." She simply nodded in return, not saying anything, taking the moment to look away from him. "Look, if a week is too much, you can come over and see him when you want."
Lita shook her head. "No. I don't want to disrupt his time with you and your mom."
He arched a brow. "Are you going to try and avoid her?"
She looked back up at him and chewed her lower lip before she spoke. "She probably hates me."
He shook his head. "No, she doesn't hate you. Sure, she was a little angry that you didn't tell me or even her because you did know where she was even though you didn't know where..." He stopped himself from saying anymore when he heard Lita sigh and saw that she looked away once again. "I explained everything to her and she understood. And then she wasn't angry anymore, she was just happy hearing about Ethan and she had so many questions and I hardly had any answers for her. I know she wants to ask you questions about him that I won't be able to answer, so-"
"Fine," Lita interrupted him turning her attention back to him. "I won't avoid her. I'll actually see and talk to her. It's only fair if I do answer any questions she may have about him since..." she trailed off not wanting to complete the sentence, but Adam nodded when he knew she was going to say 'since I didn't tell her about him before'.
"Thanks," he said getting up from where he was sitting. "I think I should get going now." Lita simply nodded. "Can I go to his room and say bye to him first? Seems like he's still in there."
"Of course." He smiled at her before he left so he could say bye to Ethan. He came back a couple of minutes later, said 'bye' to her, and left.
She started to think about the different types of way of how Adam's mom would react to seeing her again. She didn't like any of the scenarios that kept popping in her head. Well, if his mom was upset with her then she did have a reason to be, after all, Lita did neglect to tell her about her grandson even though she easily could have told his mom even if he was avoiding her. This is going to be fun.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for the reviews. Hope everyone liked the chapter. :)
So Lita hired a private investigator. Hm, how do we think Adam will react when he finds out (he will find out, I just don't know when)? How do we think Adam's mom is going to act with Lita?
