Adam was still trying to process what happened at Lita's apartment a couple of days after the fact. Hell, he stayed in his car in the parking lot for half an hour before he finally drove away and went back to his house. He wanted to go back inside and talk to Lita about it, but he didn't know what he would say. She didn't seem to be too interested in talking either when he left. Maybe he shouldn't have left her like that, but he didn't think she wanted him near and she didn't want to talk about it either. If she did, then maybe she would have stopped him from leaving, but she didn't. Maybe the both of them just needed some time.

And that time seemed to be up. Well, maybe in another couple of minutes when he actually arrived to Lita's house along with Ethan because he was dropping Ethan back off at Lita's. He still didn't know what to say or if he should even say anything at all. Maybe they could just pretend that nothing happened, but that was unlikely. He knew why he kissed her. He had been wanting to do it since the day she opened the door to her apartment the first day he came back. He was still very much in love with her even though he never expressed those words to her. He didn't think it was the right timing at all. He was just wondering why she kissed him back after pushing him away initially. He wasn't sure what was going on in that mind of hers, but he did kind of want to know.

They hadn't even talked to one another over the phone the past couple of days. When Ethan wanted to talk to Lita, Adam would dial the number for him and hand him the phone so he could talk to his mother. She called his house the day before when his mom was going back to Canada to greet her farewell saying that her work schedule was busy and that was why she couldn't see Karen before the older woman left. But for some reason he thought she was lying and using that as an excuse to avoid him even though he knew her work schedule could get a bit crazy at times. Even then, they had successfully avoided talking to one another with Karen answering the phone herself.

His mom was very suspicious as to why Adam hadn't been acting himself the past couple of days. She saw her son looked a bit distracted and something was bothering him which made him unusually quiet. Karen asked Adam if something was upsetting him and he simply told her 'no' so she left it alone even though she didn't want to because she knew he wasn't going to tell her unless he wanted to. She noticed his mood seemed to change after he picked up the medicine from Lita, but she didn't mention that to him.

Karen wasn't the only one who noticed his change of mood, Christian did too. He asked Adam what was disturbing him, but Adam simply replied saying that he was fine and nothing was wrong. Of course his friend didn't believe him. He suspected it had something to do with Lita because Dawn had the same complaints about Lita which told Adam that the redhead didn't tell her brunette friend anything. He told Adam that Dawn said there was something going on with Lita that she didn't tell her and he thought it had something to do with Adam since he was acting the same way. Adam still lied and said it was nothing. But then, he gave in just yesterday and told his friend because he felt he needed some advice on what he could say to the redhead.

"Wow," was all Christian was able to say even though he wasn't totally surprised by Adams revelation of him and Lita kissing. He had a feeling something like that was going to happen soon. Adam and Lita were pretty stubborn in admitting they still had feelings for one another and their love still existed, but he wasn't blind. He could see through the way they acted with one another and how Adam talked about Lita and vice versa even if the words were of dislike, mainly on part of the redhead, the emotions of the voice never matched those words.

"I know I have asked you this before, but you never gave me a real answer, saying that you'll always love her no matter what... Do you love her? Are you in love with her?" Christian asked after a moment of silence. He, Dawn, and Brooke were visiting Adam so they could greet his mom farewell before she left to go back home. Adam had asked to talk to Christian in private and kindly demanded the other man not tell his wife anything because he knew how she could get and he had a feeling Lita didn't tell her anything.

"Yes," Adam replied without hesitation. "I... You're right, I will always love her, but... Not like a friend. More than that. Way more than that. I am in love with her. I want her to know. I want her to know that I had no choice in leaving and I was only thinking of her when I did left. I want her to know I never stopped loving her and it's not possible that ever happens. I..." He trailed off, pausing for a brief moment before he continued. "I want to tell her that I don't blame her... well not anymore... about not telling me about Ethan. But it really pissed me off when I found out she knew where I was and still chose not to tell me anything. Why would she do that?" Christian knew his friend wasn't expecting an answer, so he stayed quiet as the other man continued. "She said she didn't want to 'ruin' my life? Why would she say something like that?"

"I'm sure she didn't mean it," Christian replied, even though he knew Adam still wasn't looking for an answer. "She was-"

"Angry," Adam finished for Christian although the latter was going to say 'jealous'. "She previously accused me of leaving her so I could be with Torrie. I don't know if she actually believed that herself."

"So what are you going to do when you see her? I know you're dropping Ethan off tomorrow. You can't really ignore what happened."

"I don't know. I was hoping you could give me some advice. That's kinda why I told you what happened in the first place."

"I can't really tell you what to do, but I really think you should tell her the truth about everything. The truth of how you feel about her. The truth about why you left. You can't keep her out in the dark of why you left." Adam was about to reply, but Christian thought of something else before he could. "But before you do that, you should probably apologize for the way you acted when you saw John with her. Dude, they're just friends. Stop freaking out on her."

Adam sighed. "I know. I need to apologize for the way I talked to her. As for the truth, she ignores me every time I try to bring it up."

"When's the last time you actually tried to tell her?"

Adam thought about it for a moment and realized it had been a while. "It's been a while," he admitted.

"Then try again. Maybe she'll actually hear you out now."

Adam simply nodded knowing that he did have to try again. Who knew, maybe she would listen to him and everything would be perfect. Yea, he didn't believe himself either.

"Daddy!" He was finally brought back to present time by the little voice. He quickly glanced through the rear view at Ethan who continued. "We're here. Let's go."

Wow. He had completely phased out when he thought about his conversation with Christian that he didn't realize they were actually parked outside the apartment building. At least he didn't hit another car or anything else while driving.

He got out of the car along with Ethan and the two made their way up to the apartment. He was pretty anxious about seeing and talking to her for the first time since their kiss. Or kisses. However you put it. He just knew she was feeling the same way and he was correct.

Lita knew Adam was coming that day to drop off Ethan and she wished it would happen quickly. She didn't know what to say to him. She hoped he wouldn't bring it up. She didn't want to talk about it at all. That's why she hadn't told Dawn anything and wasn't planning on it. She didn't know nor care if he told Christian. She just didn't want to talk about it and thought it would be best if they pretended it never happened. She wanted to forget about it.

She dropped the knife she was cutting some fruit with to the floor when she heard a knock on the door. She knew who it was. She bent down, picked up the knife, and placed it in the sink, washing her hands before she walked towards the door. She took a deep breath and reached out her arm with her hand touching the locks on the door but immediately pulling it back to herself. She shook her head, told herself to calm down, and took another deep breath before she reached out towards the door and finally unlocked the door and opened it up.

Although she knew who was on the other side of the door and was prepared, she felt her heart stop for a moment before it started to beat fast once her eyes met with those familiar green eyes she loved so much. Used to. Or still did. She didn't know, she was still very much confused about a lot of things when concerning Adam. They gazed at one another going through a range of emotions before she looked away from him and down at their son.

"Hi sweetie," Lita smiled down at Ethan who hugged her with her returning the gesture.

"Come on daddy," Ethan said grabbing his dad's hand and trying to pull him inside the house after the hug with his mom ended, but wasn't successful.

"I have to go now buddy, but I'll see you later okay?" Adam said, finally tearing his gaze away from Lita.

Ethan nodded and hugged him. "Bye. I love you."

"I love you too," Adam said as the hug ended with the little boy running inside the apartment and presumably his room to put his things away.

The former couple were silent, still not saying anything to the other until Lita spoke up. "Bye." She was about to close the door, but Adam stopped her.

"Wait," he began to say and she stopped trying to close the door. Both of them having the others attention. "I think we need to talk. I need to-"

Lita shook her head interrupting him. "No. We don't need to talk about what happened the other day because it means nothing other than the fact that I was desperate." Ouch, that stung him. "I haven't..." She trailed off not knowing how she could word what she was about to say. "Let's just say it has been a really long time since..." She trailed off once again, not wanting to finish the sentence because she felt uncomfortable. "I don't... It doesn't matter." She shook her head, looking away for a moment. "It was a mistake and luckily nothing more happened. I'm sure we both can agree with that." She was hoping she sounded convincing enough because she sure as hell didn't seem to convince herself. She didn't wait for him to respond. "Bye." She shut the door with him confused as to what happened. He shouldn't had been surprised that she shunned him out, but he was. They were never going to get anywhere if she kept doing that.

The blonde man had gotten back to his car when he received a text message from the redheaded woman. 'I need you to pick up Ethan from Dawn's on Wednesday. I have a doctor's appointment that day at 4:30. Don't know when I'll be done. I'll pick him up afterwards. Are you able to do that?', the text read. He wondered why she didn't ask him while he was still there, but nonetheless, he replied with 'yes.'

He was about to drive away before he thought of something else. He still didn't apologize for the way he talked to her and since she didn't seem to want to listen while he was in person, he texted her something else knowing she would read it and probably wouldn't answer his call. 'I'm truly sorry for the way I talked to you the other. It's no excuse but I guess jealousy got the best of me.'

Lita reread the last sentence over and over again in her head. She sort of knew Adam was jealous of John, but he just admitted it. She put her phone away not wanting to think about what he just messaged her. She didn't want nor need to think about it. Unfortunately for her, that's not what her brain wanted.

Adam dialed Lita's cell number for what felt like the billionth time that following Wednesday night. Her phone went straight to voice mail the last couple of times after it rang for a bit before going to voice mail. He was worried about her and where she could be. She was supposed to pick up Ethan after her doctors appointment which was at 4:30 so he didn't know why she wasn't here yet especially because it was almost 8. It was around Ethan's bedtime and tomorrow was a school day so he was about to give up and just put his son down for the night.

Adam didn't think Lita was ignoring his calls because they were trying to get past the whole incident even though it still felt uncomfortable, but they had to communicate for Ethan at times which they had done that day when she asked him if he picked up the little boy. He didn't know why she wasn't answering her phone. Maybe the battery died and her phone was completely off because it went straight to voice mail. He called Dawn and asked if she had heard from the redhead. She told him she hadn't and was getting the same response as him when she tried calling her friend. They both were worried that something happened to the other woman.

He didn't know where Lita was, but he couldn't help but to feel worried as he started to think something horrible happened. Maybe she was in a car accident or something. It was raining after all and his mind just jumped to that conclusion. She surely couldn't still be at her appointment. Doctors office don't stay open that late. But he wanted to think she was still at her appointment. That was the better option.

He glanced up at the clock and thought he should probably put Ethan to bed now because the little boy did look tired. He would just try calling her again afterwards.

Adam heard the doorbell ring half an hour later. He was just walking out of Ethan's room when he heard it. He looked back inside the room and saw that Ethan didn't wake up by the noise. He closed the door leaving it open a little before leaving to see who just rung the doorbell. He was hoping it was Lita. Thankfully, it was.

"Hey," he began to say to the redhead when he saw her standing there. Lita looked soaked and it made it seem like she had spent a lot of time out in the rain. For what reason, he didn't know but he knew she liked the rain. She claimed there was a calmness to hearing the rain fall down.

"Where were you? I tried calling multiple times." She was looking down at the ground and didn't say anything as of yet.

"Are you okay?" He asked after a while of waiting for her to say something. She still didn't say anything, still opting to look down at the ground. "Come inside. You're soaking. You're going to get sick." He touched her arm when she made no movement to come inside, she immediately flinched at the gesture, finally looking up at him. She looked like she had been crying.

"What's wrong?" He asked with concern present in his face and voice.

She started to cry again after the question which resulted in his worrying to escalate. Something was definitely wrong. He grabbed her wrist and gently dragged her in the house. He shut and locked the door behind them before he turned around and faced her again to speak to her. He tried to get her to move so they could go to the living room and sit and talk, but she wasn't budging.

"What's wrong? What happened?" And that's when realization set in. She just came back from the doctors. "What did your doctor say?"

She started to cry even more after that question. He did the only thing that he could think of at the moment and pulled her in for a hug. Surprisingly, or maybe not so much because it looked like she needed it, she didn't pull away from him or anything, instead hugging him back. His clothes were starting to get wet as well, but he didn't care about that at all. He just wanted to know what was going on and what happened.

He didn't have to wait much longer as she finally broke her silence. He liked the silence better as he felt his heart drop after hearing what she had to say. "I have a brain tumor."

Thanks for reading. Thanks for the reviews. I hope y'all liked this chapter.

Her headaches meaning something wasn't in my original plans like the first time I wrote about it. The longer my brain thinks about a story, the worse it is for the muses. But trust me, this has a point.
