A little over a week passed by since Lita and Ethan stayed with Adam at his house. Lita felt uncomfortable staying at his house at first, but she was slowly getting over it. She tried to stay out of his way as much as she could but it was kind of hard to do when he kept asking her if she was okay and if she needed something. She liked her independence and didn't like depending on others, especially not him.

Ethan, on the other hand, seemed really happy to be living with both of his parents under one roof. Both Lita and Adam hoped that he wouldn't get used to it and be upset when the mother-son duo went back to the apartment.

They even spent Christmas together which was only two days after she was released from the hospital. She didn't feel like going anywhere because she was tired almost all the time and felt anti-social half of the time she was awake. She felt terrible because she felt like she was ruining his holiday but he claimed she wasn't doing that. He said this was the first time he got to celebrate Christmas with his son so she definitely wasn't ruining his holiday at all.

Christian, Dawn, and Brooke spent some hours later that evening after they spent the day with Dawn's family. The brunette tried to be sneaky by convincing Christian to help her place mistletoe in two specific spots in Adam's house. She knew there was still something there between the redhead and the blonde and she was just trying to reignite the sparks even if it was by a kiss. After all, there last kiss did almost result in a little more something. Unfortunately for Dawn, Christian refused to assist her in her plan and tried to talk her out of it saying that if Lita found out, she would be angry and an angry redhead was never a good thing. Dawn called him a party pooper and said that she didn't care if Lita was going to be angry, it was nothing she couldn't deal with and she would just do it on her own if he didn't want to help. She went on with her plan only for Christian to remove the objects before either Adam or Lita saw.

Now it was a week later and it was New Years Eve. Adam and Lita were watching Brooke so that Dawn and Christian could spend some alone time together. Adam actually gifted them a trip to New York City for New Years weekend. It was basically a thank you from him to the two for being there for Lita and Ethan when he wasn't as well as a Christmas present. The wedded couple was hesitant in going on the trip because Dawn's parents were out of town and they didn't want to leave Brooke with the former couple because of Lita's condition. But Lita argued she was okay and the two were always doing a lot for her and Adam especially when it came in regards to Ethan so it wasn't a problem.

At present time, Lita was standing in the entrance of the kitchen watching Adam bake cookies with Ethan and Brooke. Or try to bake. The little girl was putting her fingers in everything while the little boy insisted on helping with the batter by cracking the eggs which he did perfectly... if the shells belonged in the batter as well.

A laughing Lita fully entered the kitchen and made her presence known.

"Enjoying the show?" Adam asked when he looked up and saw the woman walk over to the trio.

"You know it." She stopped in front of Brooke and was about to hand her the doll in her hands but there was something that needed to be done before she did just that. "Look what I have for you," she said showing the young brunette the doll. "But first let's wash your hands, okay?" She proceeded to do just that and Brooke became distracted by the doll and stopped putting her hands in everything.

"How did you do that?" Adam asked surprised, he tried to get Brooke to stop playing with the ingredients and dough but wasn't successful.

"Kids get distracted easily. Are you using this?" She asked pointing to the bowl filled with what was supposedly dough for the cookies. "You know you can pick out the egg shells and still use it."

"Yes. But someone," he gestured to Ethan who wasn't paying attention to either of his parents, "put way more salt than he should had. Just needed a little dash and he seriously put a handful."

Lita burst into laughter once again. "Guess he takes after you on that," she said when she was able to calm down.

He raised a brow. "How so?"

"Remember when you made me soup that one time when I was sick?" He nodded, so she continued. "It was so salty. So I'm just saying he took after you with the too much salt thing."

"I actually perfected soup making now."

Lita snorted. "Sure you did."

"I'll make some tomorrow and prove myself right."

"Okay, prove me wrong then. Anyways, you're starting a new mix right?"

Adam nodded. "Yes."

She turned her attention to Ethan. "How about I teach you how to crack an egg without getting it in the mix?" She sent a smirk Adam's way before she continued. "Daddy doesn't know how to, so I'll teach you." Adam simply rolled his eyes.

"Okay," Ethan nodded.

Lita proceeded to crack an egg and explain to Ethan how he could prevent it from mixing in with the dough. But he wasn't so successful when he tried, but it was definitely better than what he was doing when he was working on the mix with Adam. Thankfully, this go at the mix was much better than the first time since Brooke was distracted by her doll and Lita was much more specific in her instructions to Ethan than was Adam.

Twenty minutes had passed and the cookies were in the oven and the kids were in the living room playing together with their toys. Adam and Lita were back in the kitchen so they could clean up.

"I can do this myself," Adam began to say. "You can go rest or something."

Lita rolled her eyes. "Trust me, if I wanted to 'go rest or something' then I would, but I don't want to."

"Okay," he said as he began to put the sugar and flour back in their spots in the pantry.

Lita was about to throw away the batter filled with salt, but she thought of a better idea. "Hey Adam," she called out to the blonde man who asked her what she wanted. "You have something on your face."

He fell for it and turned to face her. "Where?"

"Your nose," she said after she took some of the batter and placed it on said part. "Oh and your forehead." She repeated her actions by smearing some on his head as well. "You look funny." She began to laugh at her work.

He grabbed the bowl so she couldn't attack him with the mix anymore. "We can look funny together."

She started to move away from him when she realized what he was about to do. "You wouldn't."

"And that is where you're wrong." He followed her until her back hit a nearby counter and she had nowhere else to go because she was stuck between him and said counter.

"I don't like you right now," she pouted.

"Hey, you started it." He took a handful of the dough, placed the bowl on the counter behind her, and started to smear the mix around her whole face.

"That's way more than what I did." Because age decided to open her mouth while he was covering her face with the mix, some went in her mouth. "Ew. Too much salt."

"Maybe you shouldn't have opened your mouth."

"And maybe you shouldn't have placed the bowl right behind me, you idiot." She reached behind her to said bowl and got as much of the batter as she could in her hand and decided to put some more on his face as well as his hair as a bonus.

"That wasn't nice."

She shrugged. "I don't care. You look like a monster now. A funny monster though, not a scary one."

"Right back at you."

The two began to laugh at how silly the other looked and how they probably looked the same themselves. And then it became awkward when they stopped laughing and realized how close they were to one another. The redhead was still trapped by the blonde. Mere inches separating the two. The two gazing in the others eyes. Adam wanted to do nothing more than to close the gap between them and kiss her. She wouldn't have protested if he did that. Hell, she was thinking of doing that herself. It was like the part of their brain that said 'no, bad idea' wasn't working at the moment. But that part of the brain kicked back in just as the gap was closing in when the timer of the oven went off.

He backed away from her, the duo avoiding any eye contact. "I'm going to check the cookies and put the next batch in," he said walking towards the oven.

"Okay. I'm going to clean this mess off my face and I'll come back and help with cleaning the rest of the mess since we didn't really get anything done."

"It's fine," he said as he took the baked goods out of the oven and put the next batch in. "I got it."

She nodded. "Okay." She wasn't about to argue with him after that incident only a couple of minutes ago.

She walked to one of the bathrooms so she could clean her face. She bumped into Adam a couple of minutes later after she was done. He too wanted to clean the mess off his face and hair. They said nothing to one another other than to utter a word of 'sorry'. They pretty much tried to avoid one another until later that night when they two were watching some movie marathon on tv. Brooke was sleeping in one of the rooms while Ethan was sleeping on the couch with them. He insisted that he wanted to stay up to see the ball drop on tv. But he was only able to stay awake a little past nine.

"I wanted to ask you something," Adam said when he focused his attention to Lita. He wasn't paying much attention to the movie that was currently playing and he knew she wasn't either.

"Okay," Lita said as she turned her attention to him as well. "What is it?"

"The other day Ethan said all his friends had the same last name as their dad's and asked me why he didn't have the same last name as me. Did you ever think about giving him my last name?"

Lita shook her head. "No. I didn't think you deserved it. I was pretty angry with you and didn't think you would ever show up."

"Yea, I wasn't talking about when he was born. I was talking about now." He was about to say more, but was interrupted.

"You mean changing his name now so that he has your last name?"

"Yes."

"Nope. Can't say I ever thought about it."

"Do you think we could change his name so he could have my last name?" He asked hesitantly because he had no clue how she would react to the question.

"Did he ask you if he can have your name?"

"Sort of."

"Define 'sort of'."

"Yes."

Lita thought about it for a little while before she gave him an answer. "Fine. If he wants it then he can have your name. I mean, the kids usually get their father's last name and you are actually in his life now so if he wants it then I'm all for it."

"You sure?"

"Yes." She got up from the couch so that she was standing. "I'm tired. I'm going to sleep now. This movie is boring and I don't care to see the ball drop. I'll take Ethan with me."

"No, it's okay. I'm going to go up in a bit too. I'll take him." Lita simply nodded and turned around so she could head up, but he decided to ask her something first. "Are you okay?"

"Yea," she replied, not turning around to face him. "Like I said, just tired. Good night."

He didn't believe her because he thought bringing up the whole last name issue seemed to disturb her, but he said nothing of it. "Good night."
