"You're getting fucking married?!" Joe almost snarls at me. I knew that telling him was not going to be a fun task anyway, so this wasn't something I wasn't expecting. "He's been nothing but horrible to you for almost two months and you're going to marry the guy? You've got to kidding me. I love you, but you're an idiot." He states with a shake of his head.
"Are you done, or do you want to yell at me some more?" I ask calmly, leaning back in the chair. I'd drove the two hours to Joe's by myself just to tell him this. I left Jon at home on purpose, the less of a scene this caused the better.
"So stupid." He grumbles. "No I'm not done, I'm just going to say it." He starts off leaning forward slightly in his chair. "I am clearly a better guy than him, I'd clearly treat you better, and I think it's pretty fucking clear that you'd have a better life with me. Jon is going to fuck up again. It might not be soon, it may be a month from now or a few years from now but he'll screw this up again. Then what Annabelle? You've wasted years of your life on a man that is never going to change." He scoffs. "Now I'm done." He sighs. We sit there for a few minutes totally silent. He had to know that I've already thought of everything he just brought up. I know that there was a huge chance Jon would go rogue again, but Joe didn't know Jon like I did and it was a chance I was willing to take.
"Please don't be upset with me." I say softly. He huffs and rolls his eyes before he crosses his arms over his chest. "I still need you Joe. You've turned into one of my best friends and I don't see my life without you in it." I admit.
"You know I ain't going no where." He finally sighs. "I still think you're stupid as hell right now, but congratulations."
"Thank you." I smile.
"So where's the groom to be?" He questions, raising his eyebrows.
"I told him to stay home. Wanted to tell you myself." I answer.
"More like you didn't want all hell to break loose." He chuckles.
"Yeah that too." I nod in agreement.
"Wedding date?" He asks curiously.
"To be determined. I don't want to get married right away. I know that stuff could go bad again, so I want to give it a couple or even a few years." I reply with a shrug. Yeah I was going to be one of those girls, engaged for years before marriage.
"Well good, that still give me time than." He smirks.
"Oh will you shut up." I laugh.
"Have you told your parents?"
"Not yet." I answer. "It doesn't matter though, they'll be freaking thrilled." I add. "So are you wrestling tonight?"
"Yeah, speaking of... I should probably start getting ready for that. Are you going?" He asks. He turns around and pulls out a couple frozen waters from the freezer and sets them on the counter.
"Yeah, I was just going to meet everyone there. No point in driving all the way home just to come back to Orlando." I shrug.
"Makes sense." He says directing his attention at the door when his cousins and Trinity come in. "Hey." He greets them.
"Hey girl!" Trin grins, sitting on the couch next to me. "Let me see that rock." She adds, grabbing my hand. "Awwww, it's so pretty..." She gushes making me roll my eyes. "Was it romantic?" She asks.
"I mean... I don't know." I shrug. "He was sitting on the edge of the dock and I was in the water... It was night time." I add.
"Does Joe hate it?" She whispers when the guys retreat into the back part of the house and Joe heads upstairs.
"Oh no... He loves the idea." I reply sarcastically. "He called me an idiot, and stupid." I chuckle.
"Yeah well, ya kinda are." She shrugs in agreement. "But you see the guy every day, you know if he's a different person or not we don't." She adds.
"Shouldn't you guys be on the road?" I ask suddenly. I remember Trin saying something about a week long tour and it'd only been about three days.
"We're technically still on tour, the guys have an appearance on the show in Orlando tonight." She tells me, "So here we are."
***...***...***...***
"Yeesh you're fuckin' jealous today." Jon chuckles. We were backstage, he was sitting on the couch and I was perched on his lap. There was a new girl seated across from us that kept making eyes at Jon, I was plotting my way to kill her and get away with it.
"Wouldn't have to be jealous if she'd keep her eyes on a man that wasn't taken." I tell him in a matter of fact tone of voice.
"Yeah? Who's got the ring on her finger?" He questions raising his eyebrows.
"I do..." I answer glancing at it and moving it side to side on my finger. "And I'm betting it make a pretty decent indent on her face." I growl.
"You are so fuckin sexy when you get this way." He grins, scooping me up so we were both standing. "Lets go grab a bite, yeah?" He says guiding us towards catering. He hesitates slightly when Joe shows up at the edge of the hallway.
"He's fine." I assure him, grabbing his hand and dragging him along behind me. "What's in there? I'm starving." I say to Joe.
"The salad bar, pizza and wings." He responds.
"Sounds healthy." Jon chuckles.
"Man, you know I'll end you if you fuck up again right?" Joe asks, narrowing his eyes at Jon. He wasn't about to sugar coat anything right now.
"Joe." I glower at him.
"Nah man, I know." Jon nods giving me an encouraging push into catering. "Go get some food for us, let me talk to Joe a minute."
"Yeah I don't think so." I chuckle.
"We'll be fine." Joe agrees.
"Fine..." I grumble rolling my eyes. I give a couple glances back as I walk over and throw some pizza and garlic wings on a plate and go sit down. The dark haired girl that was eying Jon earlier walks in and I roll my eyes annoyed, tearing into a piece of pizza. Jon glances at her, then at me and gives me a look that says 'stay put'.
"We can't make this Danielle and Tela all over again." He says when he finally walks away from Joe. He pulls a chair closer to to me and sits down, taking a wing off the plate I'd made.
"I know..." I grumble.
"She's not even pretty." He assures me.
"You're just saying that to make me feel better." I smile.
"Well I am, but we both know she isn't my type." He shrugs. He takes the pizza crust I'd just discarded on the table and bites into it. "She ain't you." He adds sweetly.
"Alright, it worked." I chuckle. "Watch this." I tell him, pushing my chair back and standing up. He gives me a questionable look and watches as I walk over to where she was sitting by herself. "Hey." I greet her.
"Hi." She smiles back.
"I'm Annabelle." I introduce myself, offering her a hand.
"Paige." She responds taking it. "Nice to meet you." She adds.
"The same." I smile.
"You wrestle here?" She asks curiously.
"I don't, my fiancé does. Jon," I say pointing to him behind me. "And a couple of my friends do too, so I'm around a lot." I shrug.
"Very cool." She responds.
"It was nice to meet you, I just wanted to introduce myself." I tell her, "I'll leave you alone."
"See you around." She says as I turn and walk back to the table.
"So have you made a new enemy?" Jon muses, leaning back into his chair.
"No I was very nice. I just introduced myself, and casually threw into conversation that you were my fiancé." I shrug sitting back down.
"You're just as ridiculous as I am." He grins. "How about you finish your pizza, you possessive and domineering woman you."
"Yeah whatever." I chuckle, noticing Trinity come up behind our table.
"She's banging Tyler, I wouldn't worry about it." She states.
"How did you even know." I exclaim in astonishment.
"I saw you walk up to her a minute ago." She grins. "She's banging Brad Maddox, who by the way is married so maybe you should keep an eye on her." She shrugs.
"Jeez Trin, really?" Jon scoffs. "I just got her off that." He adds.
"My bad." She tells him.
"It's fine." I sigh. "That's shallow though, bagging someone's husband." I state.
"No kidding, and she's only been around like a week." Trinity explains.
"Never gonna let you come to the shows without me now." I grumble.
"Good." He grins. "I'd rather have you with me anyway." He states.
"You're bein' real sweet now huh?" Trinity states giving him a hard time.
"You have no idea." I chuckle.
"I'm always sweet. I'm like a piece of fuckin' candy." He tells us wagging his eyebrows.
"Yeah... Like candy... But the sour head ones, you love them but you know they're going to rub your mouth raw." Trinity laughs making me laugh with her.
"Or now and laters. Hard at first then they get nice and soft." I say.
"You both suck." He grumbles.
"Is that the Tyler guy you were talking about?" I ask Trinity, glancing at the table where a very, very good looking guy had just sat down with Paige.
"That's him." She nods.
"Well for a married guy she ain't doing too bad for herself." I shrug, earning a glare from Jon. "What? He's hot." I add. "But not as hot as my baby." I grin, taking hold of his chin and pressing a kiss to his lips. He returns the kiss and I laugh when he easily pulls me from my own chair back into his lap.
"I'll take another of those." He murmurs. I grin and kiss him again, then again, and one more time. "Want a piggy back ride to the locker room?" He offers.
"Even at my age I'm not not going pass up a freaking piggy back ride." I chuckle.
"Hop on." He says turning his back to me. I wrap my arms around his neck and he grabs my legs. "High ho silver." He mumbles walking us out the door.
"Charge!" I laugh pointing a finger to the hallway.
"Who needs a car?" Colby chuckles when we walk in.
"This one is really good on gas." I reply, sliding off Jon's back and bouncing one the floor. Colby only grins and shakes his head.
"See you in a little bit." Jon murmurs kissing my cheek.
"Be careful!" I call back to him as he walks off towards the gorilla.
"Always!" I hear him say back. So I threw myself down on the couch and kicked my feet up on the table, getting ready to watch Jon's match.
