"He's beautiful. Just beautiful."
The small bundle that was Felix Orion Malfoy, only a few hours old, was gazed down upon by family and friends of Draco and Hermione alike. Already he had the tell-tale signs of the Malfoy blond hair, and Hermione was certain that his eyes, currently an azure blue, would soon change a very similar colour to his father's as well. Face scrunched up, his little hands curled up into small fists, he was a sight to behold as he continued to sleep peacefully in his mother's arms.
"Such a lovely name," Narcissa gushed, as she stroked Felix's forehead gently and the rest of the congregation murmured their approval.
"Yes," Ginny agreed. "Much better than Scorpius and Michael, I have to say."
"Watch it, Ginny," Draco scowled as the other's laughed. "There's still plenty of time for there to be a Scorpius Malfoy, heed my word."
"Draco," Hermione chided, as she shifted to a more comfortable position. "But yes, we felt that Felix was a much more appropriate name. It was an… interesting pregnancy to say the least; we're very lucky to have him indeed. As for Orion, let us just say that it's one of the better constellation names out there."
"You've done brilliantly, Hermione," Claire Granger congratulated her daughter, who was looking tired and yet glowing. Beside her, Richard Granger nodded his head, his eyes unusually moist as he took in his little girl and grandson.
"I still can't believe you're actually a mum, Hermione," Ron said, he too staring at his best friend. "It's a rather weird feeling to think that you and Malfoy are now parents. Merlin, Felix is going to need all the help he can get if he has you as his mum and dad." He puffed out his chest proudly. "Good thing I'm godfather then, isn't it? You wait – Fred, George and I will teach him all he needs to know."
"Hey, what about me? I'm godfather too." Harry asked, scowling at his friend.
Ron sighed for a moment and nodded his head dully. "Yes, mate, unfortunately you are. However, unlike me, you're more likely to be a good influence on him, making sure he stays out of trouble whilst failing miserably at it. At least if he has me, Fred and George then he'll be able to get up to some mischief while at Hogwarts without getting caught."
This caused another bout of laughter, light and airy; the only kind of laughter which could be stirred by such a joyous event as the one currently taking place.
"We did it, Draco," Hermione whispered, as he bent down to place a kiss on both his son and fiancé.
"Yes, we most certainly did," Draco muttered, as he went to kiss her on the lips.
The new parents looked down and gazed lovingly at their son, who wriggled slightly in his sleep, nestling himself deeper into his mother's safe embrace. Finally, they felt complete.
The End
Author's Note: Wow… and that is that, folks. It's been such a long journey to say the least, but it's finally come to a close. A massive thank you to all of you who stuck by me through this fic, and I really hope you enjoyed it. As I've said in the last chapter, I'm writing a new piece called Catalyst, so keep your eye out for it in the weeks to come – I've done a couple of the chapters, but I'm just trying to tidy them up a bit before I start posting. It's completely different to AW, set two years later from HBP. There may be some DH-elements within it, though not all of them (as you shall see).
Please let me know your thoughts with a review! Thank you and goodbye,
