Last time: Kakashi Zabuza and Haku were preparing to leave for their mission with the two wizards; Lily and James.
BACK, Chapter 12 and epilogue!
Two days; two days of traveling only stopping to set up camp; Lily and James were not in good moods as they wanted to rest a little bit more as they didn't rest enough. "When will we reach the damn place?" James asked through his teeth.
Kakashi looked back only briefly. "Relax and enjoy the view."
James bristled while Lily just sighed in defeat.
"Kakashi-san, Zabuza," her two companions glanced at her; Haku gave them a look and they nodded. Zabuza grinning.
"It's about damn time those damn cowards finally catch up. Kakashi-"
Kakashi nodded once more, "Indeed."
"What's going on?!" James demanded.
The two Jōnin ignored him and Haku with several hand rotations conjured up a ball of air. The air shield surrounded her and the two wizards as she maneuvered it upwards out of enemy's sight.
She lowered the protected air shield and landed on the ground gracefully whilst the other two stumbled slightly. Looking around them they were on a cliff of sorts. "Where are we? Why did you stop here? Where are the other two?" James and Lily asked one question after the other.
"They will be back; we should be good- Haku's emerald eyes widen as she heard the distant wheeze of weapons soaring through the air. No!
I took them a good distance away from the fight.
Haku blocked the weapons with her needles. They landed a few feet away from them. "Whatever you do," Haku commented softly, but firmly. "Don't give into your panic. "She turned over her shoulder briefly much like Kakashi did with is team all those months ago. "I won't let anything happen to you two."
The arrows were just traps as the several attackers cumulated right out form the ground below. Haku scanned them, but she had no time to analyze them and glided into a stance that was very familiar.
Her body was illuminating a blue hue.
A barrier of magic surrounded them and revealed Lt. Magi who addressed Haku as the young Chūnin concentrated on her ice.
"Sorry I'm late."
"What's happening?!" Lily whispered loud enough for an echo to resonate through the barrier.
Demonic ice mirrors; twenty-one of them surrounded the attackers who held arrows on their backs along with other weapons.
She became the water and the very ice she had standing diagonally in all directions. The men couldn't escape as she used their arrows against them.
Zabuza was laughing hysterically as his eyes gleamed with an unusual, but not uncommon intent that belonged to the craze men that loved battle.
He swung his sword as he ran through the mist technique; Kakashi following right behind as he was well adapted to the Demon's silent killing.
The mist in the distance was clearing and Haku's mirrors were diminishing rapidly. Zabuza was heading in her direction while Kakashi on the other hand…
You'll be joining the rest. Who are you?"
The man didn't show his surprise at Kakashi's use of his transplanted Sharingan. "And, do your worse, it doesn't matter. After all we will have their heads. "
"Who. Are. You?" Kakashi stressed each word.
Tsked; "Shouldn't you know what I am, ninja scum."
The man was dead in seconds and Kakashi hosted his kunai heading back towards the gang.
"Bounties," Kakashi informed. "Let's keep moving before more show up."
Lt. Magi was gone as if she never came.
That very statement put Lily and James on edge. It was just like Voldemort all over again!
"Kakashi-san," Haku threw the scroll towards the elder Jōnin. Kakashi caught it and nodded sprinting off on ahead.
Haku and Zabuza glanced at each other before nodding in agreement and Zabuza was sprinting away soon after. "Let's go, we'll reach them soon."
It dawn on the two wizards that they were alone with their daughter. Haku led them through a narrow pathway dim with little sunlight.
"Why are we not continuing with the other two?" Lily asked curiously.
Haku glanced at them from the corner of her eye; "Less suspicious, best that way."
"What was that?" James asked teeth gritted. "Back there, what was that? With the ice mirrors and the void."
It clear to Lily that Haku didn't want to answer as she remained quiet. "Haku, please at least answer us."
Haku continued to lead them, but did not look backwards as she spoke. "It's my ability nothing more. It cannot be copied or imitated by another."
"Where are we headed?"
"Towards the temple," Haku answered, stopping completely in her tracks. "We won't reach it till morning. We're rest in the next cave."
After resting another day they reached the temple. Kakashi and Zabuza were waiting for them. The person who greeted them was a high-priest dressed in orange robes.
"Thank you," he said holding the valued scroll. "Please you and your companions must rest here for tonight."
They took on the generous request and rested that night in the temple. The next morning Lily and James were woken once again before the sun rose and grouchily moved about.
"Haku," Zabuza ordered ticked off because of the couple's slowness. Haku nodded and surrounded them in an air ball so they could follow without hindrance. Today was the day after all.
Today was the trial.
Luckily getting there wasn't going to take long and it was just farther down up the mountains located in a temple like building structured in various textures.
England…
"Wake up," Ron urged Harry. Harry rubbed his eyes tiredly. "Come on mate, mom wants us down stairs. Today is the trial you know."
Harry was immediately awake after Ron's words. "I'm up."
Ten minutes later the two were stumbling downstairs. "George, Fred! Ginny! Get down here NOW!"
"Remember, black. We aren't going there to stuff up our faces." Snape said snidely.
Sirius rolled his eyes; "yeah, yeah."
A loud crack and Dumbledore was standing there with his usual twinkle. "Is everyone present and ready to depart?"
Japan, isles… Hidden Countries…
It was more of a hall than anything colored in the most decorated of beiges and decorated with the most exquisite of designs, Harry and the others were in awe at the inside of the temple-like building that held the meeting hall.
He and the others took in the not only the colors and designs, but in the foreign people who sat in what could have only been for council members.
"Dumbledore, Mr. and Mrs. Potter," it was Amelia Bones. "Come follow me we are to the far side of the room on the left. " Harry noted that Haku and her boyfriend and coworker headed off towards the other direction and was, but shouldn't have been to surprise in seeing her headmistress greeting them.
Amelia went to sit in councilmen chair that wasn't too far from where he and his parents' were sitting.
Tsunade stood once everyone was seated in their places. She stood behind the head altar. Her amber ayes looked alight and were stern with her lips pursed; "Greetings all. We are gathered here today to finalize the verdict of one of our own, Haku."
"May I speak, hime," The woman had an accent to her tone and she was old. Her name was Koharu a council member of Konoha. Tsunade nodded. "Under law XXX number 3XC … A citizen of the village who has not committed any crimes and has lived to redeem- To Harry and some others it sounded like blah, blah, and blah.
"Koharu!" Tsunade bellowed. "To the point!"
The old woman glared, "I was getting to it. No shinobi or citizen without permission or leave (exiled) can be removed from the village."
Homura coughed and Koharu sat down; "I n order words this meeting of trail is concluded and shall not be discussed again." Harry's stomach was doing backflips. That meant-
"Your honor," Dumbledore spoke calmly. "Surely you can look beyond the rules and laws for family."
"Fifteen minute break!" Amelia slammed her hammer down alongside Tsunade who shouted the words at the same time.
XXX…
Harry stood while his parents' paced nervously. "This isn't good. They aren't in our favor!"
"Oh," Molly cried distraught. She was hoping that the family could be together.
The Dursley's just smirked nastily; finally something was going wrong in that freakish family!
"Amelia dear," Dumbledore spoke gravely. "Is there nothing you can do?"
Amelia's eyes narrowed. "If you are referring to what I think, Albus than you are going to land everyone including you in prison. And, let me tell you their prison makes Azkaban look like the better choice."
Sirius shuddered. "That can't be right."
The judge woman nodded; "Afraid so. Time's up head back to your seats." With heavy hearts the wizards and witches did so, but Hermione and Ron placed reassuring hands on their friend's shoulders however, it did little to help him.
They were back in the meeting hall. "With previous evidence from the last trial and today we –as in council," Tsunade spoke up authority dripping from her voice. "Have ensured that, Haku formerly known as Haliene Potter is to remain here in our countries and that-
Harry clenched his fist while the others held their breaths.
"Only during holidays may she and the Potters' may visit each other as family."
Disappointment wasn't even the right emotion to describe their anguish stricken faces.
"Dismissed!" Tsunade bellowed closing the meeting for good.
They lost and they never stood a chance. Dumbledore had to swallow his pride and he looked defeated. There was nothing he could do, it was foolishness that he thought he could. "Before we go back and leave I have a request." Tsunade and the other shinobi whether retired or not turned to face the old wizard.
"The truth, I believe we deserve that much."
"Fool," Koharu bellowed looking highly angered. "You would ask us to disclose information that keeps our villages going?!"
Tsunade held up a hand, "He is right. The oath I nearly forgotten about it- Alright, who will represent you all?"
Snape moved forward and bowed, "I would be honor to stand as benefactor." Sirius and Lupin glared at the potions teacher he was against them all alone!
"Very well, Kakashi." The silver 0haired Jōnin moved forward he was the representative for his two companions.
Harry heaved taking a breath before stepping forward. "Harry- Harry you don't have to," several pleaded.
"Its fine," was all he said and he stood inches away from Kakashi. Tsunade ordered for the oath to proceed.
Snape stood with his wand out before the two. "I Harry James Potter represent and speak for all wizards and witches present that nothing regarding previous endures (since the meeting of Haku and Zabuza) and now will never speak of it."
The orange like lights didn't just surround Harry, but every wizard and witch present-the ultimate oath.
Kakashi spoke next, "On behalf of the villages and shinobi nations, I Kakashi-
"That isn't enough," Homura said snidely. "One oath isn't enough to keep them silent."
His hand rose and several ANBU appeared.
"HOMURA! What is the meaning of this?" Homura wasn't fazed by Tsunade.
"To protect our nation of course," it was that simple.
Tsunade outraged had Kakashi, Zabuza, Haku, Ino, and several others including Hinata and Neji standing in front of the wizards and witches who were currently still unprotected. "Call of the men, Koharu, Homura!"
With frustrated growls and not wanting to start a civil war within the leaf village the two elder council members retreated.
The shinobi that were with Tsunade dropped their stances. "Kakashi and you two ANBU escort these people back to their homeland!"
Harry sighed sadly as he remembered the information that they were told today just after witnessing a crushing defeat. "We're sorry, Harry." Hermione said looking sadly at her best friend. "We were outmatched."
They were at Sirius place.
"Shame isn't it, Freak?" Dudley said emerging from the door just after Hermione left. "And, to think we thought she wasn't one, but then freaks flock together."
"Shut up, Dudley."
Dudley ignored him though. "Whatever, freak just glad that we don't have to see you anymore." As if sensing Harry's rising anger he left with a snarky retort.
"Harry," Harry sighed he didn't feel like seeing anyone else. It was Lily. "We'll be leaving tonight. Are-Are you coming along?"
Harry heard his mothers' tone and it sounded just as broken as his sounded angry. "Yeah, I'm coming."
Zabuza placed his Kubikiribōchō along the wall and loudly walked through the halls of their cottage home. He was ecstatic, over joyed; in a fantastic mood. Why? They didn't have to go back to the wizarding world not until the holidays'! That meant no more brats and nor more hiding!
He found Haku sitting on the patio outside their bed room. "Woman?"
"Did I do the right thing, Zabuza?"
Nah, uh. No way! "Are you asking me about those idiots Haku? Those very idiots that tried so persistently to tear us apart?" The question came out colder than intended.
Silence; nerve retching silence! It was so palpable that a knife wouldn't be able to cut through it. "You second guessing yourself, woman? Don't tell me your ready to pack and leave me now, woman? Not after everything we've been to, not after we just started living!"
Once again the silence greeted them both.
Talking about eternity
Forever with you
"Forever, Zabuza-san. Nothing will come and tear us apart."
Eternity
Zabuza was fuming and was turning on his heels when Haku spoke, "No." He heard her get up and her light footsteps walking –heading towards him. "I am no one else and belong here with you. I am not second guessing that nor am I packing my things- She stopped placing her head on his back.
"Your too soft –hearted, Haku."
Haku smiled dimly. She knew that and sometimes it crept in her being ready to devour her to the very core however, that's why Zabuza was around to make sure she didn't leave, didn't succumb to her emotions that threaten them. "We can see them again during the holidays," she wrapped her hands around his waist taking in his sent.
Zabuza chuckled. That was more like it. He turned them around and led them inside the bedroom with a wicked grin.
EPILOGUE!
Everything went back to normal and Harry was no longer staying with the Dursley's. The fifth year past and went and now it was another year and it was the summer time. Harry and his parents were getting ready to leave for tomorrow.
"Mom, dad, I'm heading to meet Hermione." James and Lily grinned knowingly. Those two were dating and it sort of reminded them of themselves- in a way.
"Sure just be back before curfew!"
Harry blushed and spluttered before leaving the medium-size mansion.
Hermione greeted him happily and they walked towards the park to enjoy each other's company. "So, you guys are going to visit Haku tomorrow?"
Harry nodded, "Yeah. You and Ron can come you know, mom said it was ok."
Hermione smiled nodding. She would go along with her boyfriend for support. "Wonder what the surprise is though."
Harry shrugged.
The next morning the Potter's, Ron and Hermione headed out towards the station and on the train that would take them to the port. A few hours of riding on the train and they finally stopped to the port where they waited for the ANBU escorts.
"Yo," the greeting was familiar and they looked to see Kakashi crouched along the rail. "Long time no see."
"Nice to see you to, Mr. Kakashi," Lily and Hermione greeted.
They took Kakashi's arm and were gone with several leafs falling towards the ground. They reappeared and were standing in the front yard of a familiar beige colored cottage home that had several small rose gardens blooming beautifully. Kakashi led them towards the front door where he knocked.
The person who answered the door was Haku however she looked different. She wore a yellow apron over her kimono with a sling of sorts on her side.
"Come in, but be a little quiet. Zuko is sleeping." Who was Zuko? A whale belonging to a crying infant answered their question. So, Zuko was baby; Kakashi knowing who the babe really was just remained quiet and smiled beneath his mask.
They followed Haku curiously as she entered a nursery room with various blues and yellows. Haku picked up the babe and cooed gently whilst giving it a bottle.
"Mm…Haku who is he?"
Harry asked that question. The babe looked to be few months old -mainly about two months.
Haku just smiled while Kakashi chuckled mirthlessly. "He's mine. Harry, James, and Lily I like you to meet anew addition to the family;" She held to were the light was on him just slightly; "Momoichi, Zuko."
James and Harry who perfectly resembled a stone statue couldn't speak. Her what now?
"You're kidding, right?" Lily asked not sure if she heard right. The silence answered her questioned.
"Haku," that very tone spark Harry and his father out of their stone-state. Zabuza Momoichi walked in to the room eyes on Haku and his son.
James pulled out his wand, but Lily grabbed it and took before he could do any damage. "Can I hold my grandson?"
Zabuza watched as Haku handed their son to Lily with an unnerving gaze.
Lily grinned as she persuaded her two boys who reluctantly dissolved their anger. Hermione wasn't far in following Lily in cooing over the new addition to the family.
Two days later Kakashi went to retrieve Sirius and a few of the others who upon finding out just who was the father didn't take it well at first, but with the girls clearly showing their disapproval quickly changed their minds.
Snape pursed his lips as he held Zuko in his lap watching as Sirius and his friends made fools of themselves; " You, Zuko." He muttered. "Do not be a brash as the Gryffindor's. Uncle Severus will make sure of that."
Haku chuckled beside him and Severus closed his mouth tightly. "I didn't hear anything, Uncle Severus."
Severus hid his grin.
Unfortunately, all things had to end and Harry and the others had to return to the wizarding world to face Voldemort and end their war. They managed to do so with limited visits and when they finally came back to see Haku and her family…
"Zuko quit picking on your little sister!"
Yup, a new addition was added. Although, that was shocking, Harry and the other wizards and witches had their own surprises.
Dumbledore passed away, Harry and Hermione were engaged, Sirius was a free man, Snape was headmaster, and Lupin was engaged to Tonks and expecting, Ron and his family were slowly moving up in status, but the most sadden news was that Lily and James passed away. They died from battling in the war.
Harry shook his head, "In the end all that matters is that Voldemort's reign is over."
"Indeed."
