This will never happen again. This is an anomaly. There is no possible way I can write two chapters in two days unless it is the weekend. I'm in the middle of projects where I can't do anything in my room and I have to do stuff during the day so my nights are free right now. This will not happen regularly, fair warning. Plus, its Tuesday. Tuesdays there is nothing for me to watch during the day except the new HIMYM. This is a special treat to anyone following the story. Two more followers: Professor McGonagal and Stella Hawk. How exciting!
Disclaimer: Do people put disclaimers on stories anymore? Eh, I'll do it anyway. I don't own Harry Potter.
"...during the wildcat Gargoyle Strike of 1911, the wildcats were winning when..."
James and Sirius yawned simultaneously as Professor Binns, their ghostly history professor, taught them about something neither of them cared to learn. Peter, who tried so hard to stay awake and take notes, ended up nodding off after the first ten minutes.
"Can I please sleep now?" Sirius asked. James shook his head.
"No," James answered. "I want to see if Evans does make it through her first History of Magic class."
"Does it look like she's falling asleep anytime soon?" James looked at the redhead in front of him and sighed. She was scribbling down her notes as fast as Professor Binns was saying them, which wasn't very fast but it was still more impressive than the rest of the class.
"Just keep an eye on her," James said, crossing her arms. Sirius sighed as he reclined back in his chair. He looked forward, and in less than a second, a mischievous glint sparkled in his eye.
"You don't happen to have any scissors on you, by any chance?" he asked mischievously. James frowned.
"Scissors?" he asked. Before Sirius could explain, however, the doors to the classroom opened up, and Remus Lupin strolled in.
"You must be Mr. Lupin," Professor Binns said as Remus went to sit down next to Peter.
"Yes sir," Remus said as he got his things out. Professor Binns only nodded before going back to his lecture.
"What are you doing here?" James asked, leaning over Peter, waking him in the process.
"Remus?" Peter asked sleepily. "What are you doing here?"
"He was just about to answer us Peter," Sirius said. "Remus, you missed the most amazing bet in history."
"I-what?" Remus asked, looking to James for help.
"Sirius, I wouldn't call my bet with Lily-" James began, but he was interrupted by Sirius.
"Not that bet," Sirius said. "Ours. I will be the godfather of your first child when I win."
"Wait," Remus said, confused.
"When you win?" James said, ignoring Remus. "No way. I'm going to win." He paused for a second. "Wait, what do I win?"
"The satisfaction that you were right," Sirius suggested. James only grinned.
"No," James said. "If I win…you have to…marry the giant squid."
"WHAT?" Sirius yelled, attracting the class's attention. Even Professor Binns stopped his lecture to look at the black-haired boy.
"Ignore my friend here," James said, patting Sirius on the shoulder. "He was just shocked by the history being taught in this room. Please, continue Professor Binns with your historical facts." Professor Binns nodded and continued on with his lecture.
"Is the bet complete and official now?" James asked, holding out his hand. Sirius grinned and sealed the deal with a handshake.
"You bet," Sirius said. "Told you this bet would be awesome."
"We'll see about that," James said.
"You really shouldn't leave," Peter said, turning to Remus. "I can't really control them."
"I doubt anyone could," Remus said, looking forward. Peter continued to stare at him though.
"You look tired," he said. "Are you okay? How was your mother?"
"She's fine," Remus said. "Turns out it was a misdiagnosis. Now that they are taking care of her properly, she should be well soon."
"That's good news," James said, turning to look at Remus.
"Yeah," Remus said. "It is." The bell rang just then and Remus sighed. "Can I borrow notes from anyone?"
"Sorry," James said, getting up. "We didn't take any."
"Ask Evans" Sirius said as he followed James out. "She's the only one who took notes anyway."
"Hey guys, wait up," Peter said running after them. Remus sighed again as he made his way towards the redhead.
"Hey James," Sirius asked as they walked to their next class. "Did you really mean what you said back there?"
"What?" James asked. "That I didn't take any notes?"
"No," Sirius said. "Not that. I mean about me being your friend." James looked confused for a moment before his eyes lit up with understanding.
"Well yeah," James said, grinning. "You can't share a detention with a guy without becoming friends in the process."
"Really," Sirius asked. "You don't mind being my friend?"
"Why would I mind being your friend?" James asked, confused once more.
"Because I'm a Black," Sirius said, his voice cracking just a bit. "My family's not exactly the best family to get along with. I'm surprised you've put up with me for this long."
"Just because your family is rotten, no offence by the way, doesn't mean you're like them too," James said, putting an arm around his new friend. "I'm pretty good at figuring out the wrong sort and you mate, are not like the other Blacks."
"What about me?" Peter asked quietly. James and Sirius looked at each other before grinning.
"I'm sure we can find something for you to do to get you into detention with us," James said. "It's the only way the three-the four of us can truly bond."
"What is this about bonding?" Remus asked, walking up to them. "Why is Sirius grinning like a madman?"
"Anyone know where to find some scissors?"
So its a little bit shorter, than the last one (600 words shorter, give or take if you wanted to know). But I wasn't even supposed to write anything today, so yeah. I was planning on writing this in the last chapter but I felt it didn't fit. Then I realized I forgot to add what James would win with the bet and it was supposed to be Peter being the godfather then I realized that James wouldn't bet that, and he's eleven so...giant squid wedding.
I wanted to add more to this chapter but I realized its just a filler chapter and there wasn't much I could go with it so it ended with that. Review. I probably made loads of typos. Hot off the press chapter. I know Remus probably wouldn't be in class so soon after a full moon but let's just pretend he didn't want to miss the second day of classes so he forced himself to go.
