Author's Notes: I hope you like this. Sorry it's a bit short.
The Fifth Day
I held in my breaths then went to the Gates. Many soldiers were pushing against it, trying to prevent the Host from getting inside. Two telekinetic Nymphs, named Sir Drycan and his brother Sir Woan and stood back looking at the doors with strain and sweat dripping down their foreheads.
Thèoden was talking to Gimli asking for more time. Legolas stood at the top of the gates shooting his arrows, I smiled to myself then looked around hoping no one had noticed. Horus lifted up a wooden beam on his own and lodged it against the wall to the surprise of Men who had to have three people help to be able lift to beams.
I ran up the steps and greeted Legolas who shot arrows like it was in his nature to do so. I looked at his nearly empty quiver and rolled my eyes. "Take these" I said pulling out nine arrows from my quiver.
He looked up from his shooting and shuck his head. "You'll need them. I have a spare quiver full inside and I could... No that would be wrong" He said shaking his head, ridding himself of his thought.
We both knew what he meant. He could take arrows from the Dead Men, Elves and Nymphs. He shot another arrow from his bow, down at the Uruk-Hais. When he was not looking I dropped my arrows into his quiver and got back to my own shooting. I wasn't going to take chance of loosing him and that was final.
I spotted Aragorn and Gimli creeping like rats out of a secret door into the outside world. Legolas also saw this. "Tara, see of you can find a rope." He said quickly.
I ran across the wall, past soldiers firing arrows and crossing blades. I found a length of rope in the hands of a dead Orc. I prized it from it's grip and ran back to Legolas. "Sorry it stinks of Orc." I said tossing him the rope.
He laughed and threw it down the wall. Holding onto the end. I looked over the edge. Aragorn and Gimli faughth Uruk-Hais that made their way up the Causeway. "Oi! You two." I shouted, pointing at the rope that was slowly being lowered.
Aragorn took Gimli under his arm and Legolas and a solider pulled them up.
I looked in fear as the opposing Host readied more leaders. Trolls hoisted them up against the wall and Uruk-Hais climbed up them. I was joined by Horus on my shoulder and Legolas at my side. "Everyone needs to get in the Keep and fast if they want to live the night" I told Legolas quietly.
Along with many other solilders we went into the Keep. In the hall people rushed about blocking windows and doors with anything at hand, even if that be a gold candle holder. In the Great Hall a desperate amount of Nymphs, Phoenixs in human forms, Men and very little Elves gathered. The injured has been taken to the Caves to be looked after.
"The fortress is taken. It is over" Thèoden said in dismay as he collapsed in his throne.
My uncle, Lord Knox with Eos stood by the King's side. He looked down at the King. "Give up? That is not the blue blood of your ancestors speaking, Thèoden. Your grandfather did not give up on the Golden Field under the mountains and neither will you" Lord Knox commanded.
Aragorn stopped a moment and looked at the King. "Is there no other way for the women and children to get out of the caves? (Theoden does not answer but looks at the floor)
"Is there no other way? You say this a fortress yet you do not build a back up system." I said angrilly, looking down the hallway in the direction of the caves.
Gamling then answered. "There is one passage. It leads into the mountains. But they will not get far. The Uruk-hai are too many."
Aragorn's face brightened up a bit. "Tell the women and children to make for the mountain pass. And barricade the entrance!"
Thèoden looked in the unknown distance. Then mused his thoughts aloud to himself. "So much death. What can we do against such reckless hate?"
Horus then muttered something that I would have said but I had daren't not say it. "I dunno, shoot Saruman in the brain? That'd probably do some good to the world"
The whole room went silent. Lord Knox, Eos and Aragorn both glared at me and Horus. Horus shrugged looking at his uncle Eos with innocent eyes and pointing at me. "She thought it, I said it. You can blame her for what I just said"
I rolled my eyes. Then the doors banged. Sun rose up and shone through the window. "Gandalf." I said plainly.
"Ride out with me. Ride out and meet them. For Rohan. For your people. For Middle Earth." Aragorn said looking at the doors.
"The horn of the Deep shall sound once more, gather the horses!"
The horses were brought in the Great Hall. Soliders paired up so there was two soliders to each horse when there wasn't enough horses. I sat on Damon with Horus perched on my shoulder in his bird like form. The sound of kicking hooves echoed through the halls and went into the caves.
"Fell deeds, awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red dawn." Thèoden called out loudly pulling down his helmet.
Three blows of the horn rumbled through the valley, dale and through the mountains all the way too Isengard. The doors of the hall opened and we galloped out, kicking and throwing down Uruk-Hais and Orcs in a frenzy of horse hooves. Out on the dale we met the mass horde head on. The sun peaked just behind the mountains ahead. The world paused for a final breath. I looked to the mountain and saw Gandalf on Shadowfax stood alone with the sun behind him.
Then a mass army followed him. Some dressed in Rohirrum armour and others were dressed in the black leathers and the chain mail of the Dunedain. They ran down on horse back and time restarted. The odds were now stacked again Saruman and his White Hand. The battle was short lived for the remaining Uruk-Hais and Orcs. When they realised it was folly to carry on the fight the ran to a dark forest in the dale had sprung up from nowhere. In the dark forest screams and shouts were heard and the trees looked alive. As quick as the forest came it disappeared again leaving more dead bodies for Rohan to stack and burn.
I let Damon graze with the other horses and went to Gimli and Legolas who were cheerfully bickering about their kill toll. I watched with a smirk with my arms folded across my chest. Two pairs of hand suddenly rested on my shoulders and I heard low sniggers that I knew too well. I turned and found the Twins of Elrond.
Elladan stood on the right side grinning and Elrohir stood on the left looking over my shoulder at Legolas. "Awkward question but can we have Thsan and Drethan back. I...we can miss fighting with them" Elrohir said swaying back and fourth.
I smiled and took of the harness and passed it to him. "Sure. I miss fighting with my sword" I said as Elladan took his blade and put in his half empty harness on his back. "Oh Coren's engaged. How he managed to pick someone up, I don't know" I blurted out with laughter.
"He learnt from the masters" The Twins said at the same time, taking a joint bow.
"Yeah, you tell yourselves that." I said patting them on the backs and walking to Legolas with two extra shadows following me.
Legolas looked up from his bickering and smiled sweetly. The Twins both suddenly blurted out laughing like they were children once more. "Well, well, well, Legolas. What's going on between you and Nymph girl?"
Gimli sadly answered and rather loudly too so half the people in the surrounding area could hear. "Somethings has gone on, for sure. Unless you Immortals go kissing each other on the lips before every battle!"
The Twins both looked at one another completely shocked. I smiled sheepishly, looking at my feet then raising them to Legolas's face. "Thank you so much, Gimli, I really appreciate how loud you can declare stuff..." I mumbled.
Elladan clapped his hands together suddenly. "Moving on, Lord Knox...I mean your uncle says he needs to talk to you. Something about him going back to Castdeia with the remaining battalion of Nymphs"
I sighed then looked at Legolas again. His eyes were alive with life, the adrenalin from the battle was still pumping round him body. "If he thinks I'm coming back now, he can stick it up his royal..." I trailed off and went quickly to my uncle who has in a spare hall with all of the remaining Nymphs and Phoenixs. I was followed by the twins, Legolas, Gimli and Horus who flew there only changing at the last minute to the twins surprise.
I walked into the chamber, receiving sharp nods of heads. The others, minus Horus, stayed in the open doorway not daring to come in. "Tara, you now what is I am going to say and I can see if your face. But you must understand it is not safe for you to carry on this journey. These men, your friends they can go on without you. They do not have a Kingdom to look after." Lord Knox explained.
I rolled my eyes, looking at the glum Nymph Guards and their fellow Phoenix companions. "No. This my choice not yours, uncle and I say no I am staying." I said sternly.
Lord Knox's face twisted his eyes flashing to the group of my friends hung at the doorway like impatient animals. Eos walked over to the door and told them to depart then closed it shut. "Is this because of that son of Thranduil?" he said angrily in a whisper.
"Yes and no. But so what if my reasons is him? I thought you were on good terms with the Woodelves." I said reply trying to keep my voice calm and placid. "I'm staying and that's final. Unless you want to attempt at dragging me back" I said with a grin but a stern glare.
"Fine. But I hope you realise what your getting yourself into. Gondor do not particularly like our sort especially their Steward."
I nodded at his words. "Ok. So don't annoy the Steward or better yet, don't tell them who I am. Sorted"
