The girl with the pink hair turned at the sound of her name. Stella darted into Timmy's hat the second Roxy moved. The fairy didn't want to see her face after seeing what sorry shape the ranch was in. "Oh, we have visitors," Roxy said quietly, leading Timmy into the barn. "We don't get too many here these days. If you would have come before, it must have been years by now, we would have had a flourishing ranch with tons of horses, cows, and cuccos. Now, it's Avalon's prison camp for the animals," she furrowed her brow angrily. "Lord Valtor and the Gerudos attacked the ranch about seven years ago and kicked my dad out. He set Avalon in charge, and it hasn't been the same since."

Timmy silently listened to Roxy's lamentation. It sounded like the ranch here was totally different than it was when he came and visited a while back. He wanted to help, but he didn't know if he could. Lithia told him something about temples, after all, and that seemed pretty top priority. Roxy gave a small smile and asked, "But enough about me. Can I get you anything, weary traveler?"

Timmy glanced down at his stomach, and Roxy laughed. "You remind me of someone I met a long time ago," she said cheerfully, getting some milk from the lone cow left. "Here, take this for your journey." She handed a bottle of milk to Timmy. "It's the most filling milk this side of Zora's river!"

Timmy nodded in thanks and sipped a bit of it. It was thick and rich, just like Roxy said. He would do as she said and keep it for his travels. "I don't mean to be rude, especially if you have to go somewhere, but you're the first Hylian to come in years," she said softly, looking down at her feet. "Would you like to come see the horses?"

Timmy nodded. He remembered her showing him the horses when he was younger. When they got to the corral, he saw that the gates were covered in barbed wire. It looked like a prison, just like Roxy said. A man was standing there with a bright white suit. "Roxy, who is this?" he asked angrily.

"It's just a traveler, Avalon. I wanted to show him the horses," she whispered.

Avalon frowned, "You didn't properly address me. And who are you to be bringing penniless strangers here? Only paying customers may see the horses!" he barked. "If he wants to see the horses, he has to pay me!"

Roxy's face fell. "But Avalon, sir, I suggested it! Can I please show him the-"

"No," Avalon said definitively. Roxy narrowed her eyes and dashed away, hustling into the small country house and slamming the door. Timmy stood there, not quite sure what to do. "What are you still doing here?" Avalon asked angrily. "Even if you had money, you wouldn't be able to buy any of these horses. They're for Lord Valtor's forces!"

Timmy nodded vigorously and turned to go, when he saw Roxy running back out, holding her skirt so she wouldn't get it muddy. "Avalon, sir! Don't make him go!" she called stopping in front of him and handing him a small drawstring bag.

Avalon took it and opened it. "Your life savings, Roxy dear? You want to pay for this urchin's horse? This isn't nearly enough to buy one!" he lashed out.

Roxy stood her ground, determined to get the man to listen to her. "Is it enough to let him see the horses? Not buy any; just see them?" she asked hopefully.

Avalon fingered the girl's money in his hand. He could use the extra pay, and if she paid him all of her money, she would be completely dependent on him, so he could make her work harder. "Fine. He can see the horses," Avalon groaned and opened the gate.

"Go on," Roxy said softly. "I want you to see them."

Timmy smiled and walked into the corral. Many of the horses were looking gaunt, and he could tell that this upset Roxy greatly. Glancing back out, he could see Roxy leaning against the fence with a huge smile on her face. She motioned for him to pet one, and he did. She motioned to ride one, and he tried, but he couldn't mount any of them. From outside the corral, he could see her starting to sing, until Avalon reprimanded her. Maybe he could play the harp for the horses. They seemed to like it when she did.

Timmy reached into his pouch and pulled out the Tablet of Time. That's right; he could now play the songs he originally had for the harp on the piece of machinery. He tapped the screen a few times so Peg's song would resound through the corral. A lone, white horse approached Timmy and nuzzled his hand. Was this strong mare the same horse he had seen when he was a boy? Very slowly, he tried to get on the horse. She kneeled down to allow Timmy to step on, almost like she wanted him to ride her. Once he was situated, Peg trotted around gleefully, nothing like the other despairing horses there.

"What is he doing riding Peg?" Avalon asked Roxy angrily. "That horse was chosen especially for Lord Valtor himself!"

Roxy had been staring intently at Timmy ever since he had played the song she used to sing when she was younger. It was him! The boy who had visited the ranch a long time ago! "Fairy boy!" Roxy called out. "Play the song again! Get Peg out of here!"

Timmy looked at her strangely before whipping out the tablet and playing the song one more time. Almost instantly, Peg began to sprout glorious wings. He stared in awe for a second before she took off, flying high over the barbed wire trapping the horses and out of the ranch. Looking down, he could see Roxy waving to him and Avalon running around frantically, probably wondering how he would tell Valtor that he had lost his best horse.

Surprisingly, Timmy wasn't afraid of this height. He knew Peg would keep him safe. They touched down outside the ranch, along the edge of the desert. Stella flew out from underneath Timmy's hat and perched on his shoulder, like old times. "We're not at the ranch anymore!" she noticed, flying down and running her hand along the coarse dirt. "This is at the edge of the desert! The entrance to Gerudo Valley! That's where Valtor is from!"

Timmy nodded and cautiously brushed his foot against the sandy ground. He could hear Peg's wings flapping, and he turned just in time to see her fly away. "Timmy! Behind you!" Stella yelped, but it was too late. A strong arm held his hands behind his back, and a scimitar was held to his neck.

"Don't move. If you come quietly, I won't have to hurt you," the voice behind him said harshly as he was led deeper into the desert.

A/N: Cliffhanger! A bit more plot is going to be incorporated into this story, since we're obviously not going to write paragraphs about running through Hyrule Field. Today's the day! A Link Between Worlds is out in the United States, and I don't have it! *sigh*

I'll be writing scholarship essays the next couple weekends, so I can't guarantee you'll get another update soon, but I'll try as hard as I possibly can! Until next time! Daisy out!
