Council Chambers on Coruscant

Silver Surfer and Beast stood before the high council of the New Republic. Mon Mothma looked down at the two with mild distrust, but also sympathy for their lost friend. Supposing they had saved Leia and Han from the resurected Darth Vader, she decided they were not enemies.

"After some thinking, we have decided to let you stay for as long as you like." She said. "We are sorry for your lose."

The Surfer and Beast bowed respectfully and exited the huge chamber. Garm Bel Ilbis watched them as they left. Once they were out of earshot, he spoke up.

"Those guys could be great assets to our cause." He said. "They could really help us out with the war effort."

"Do not talk of such things this soon." Mothma scolded. "They have been through much in just a short amount of time since landing. I imagine they wish to mourn their dead friend."

Feyleya rippled his fur, the dark patterns fluctuating slightly. "That is too bad, Mothma." He said. "We need every military asset we can get out there stopping the Empire Remnants."

Leia was starting to get hot under the collar, the thought of just ignoring the one they called Hank was infuriating.

"That giant gave his life for me, and the others risked them as well." She said. "I would not be here now without them."

The others seemed to consider this. All except Feyleya, who merely scowled.

"Princess," He began. "We do not need to consider-"

"Stow it, Feyleya! The princess speaks the truth." Iblis said.

"What they need right now is rest, and relaxation. Then we may consider military uses." Mothma said. "This meeting is ajourned."

Jedi Enclave Training Room: Dantooine

Doom focused all his energy into the green crystal he was carefully crafting into his customized hilt with the Force. It required extreme concentration and stamina to stay so still for so long, and manipulate such objects. His thoughts flashed to Force Susan, and the pieces fell to the floor, disassembled again.

Doom got up slowly, panting slightly, and angry.

"I just can't do it! It's not possible!" He yelled out. "The amount of concentration required is much more than any magic I ever studied!"

Luke looked at him worried. "There is so much anger in you. Such feelings will lead you down the Dark Path."

"But everytime I try I-"

"Do or do not." Luke interuppted. "There is no try."

Doom looked at him incredulously. "What do you know of this?"

Luke looked at him severally. "I have been down much harder paths than you and was told the same thing by my master."

Doom stared. "What could you have been through that Doom has not?"

Luke pulled two chairs into the room using the Force, and bid Doom take a seat.

"I'll tell you the tale...of when I met Master Yoda."

Wolverine paced about the room, growling in a soft, monotonous rhythm. Thor sat beside the window staring at the giant city horizon. As they all sat cooling there heels, Surfer and Beast walked in. Wolverine looked at them.

"So, what happened?" He asked. "What's next?"

"They have allowed us to come and go as we please, and use this hotel as ours." Beast said.

Wolverine smirked a bit.

"So, let's go find that jerkoff and shred him!" He said, flourishing his indestructible claws.

Beast looked at the floor. Wolverine knew what that meant.

"We ain't gonna, are we?" He said muttering.

"No, we still don't know where he went." Beast said. "And chasing ghosts won't do much...I'm sorry, Logan."

As the senators and councilors were leaving the area, Leia stayed behind to talk to Garm and Mothma.

"You guys aren't seriously thinking about using them in military are you?" Leia asked, worriedly.

Garm put his hand on her shoulder. "Not at the moment, but maybe in the future, we could negotiate some terms."

"I can't believe this." Leia said, and she ran out.

She reached the arched entry way to where the ships were docked, and was thrown back by an explosion! She rolled violently back towards Garm and Mothma, who were getting combat ready. When she stopped bouncing, and most of the smoke cleared, were the explosion was was now a forty foot rearing rancor!

"Mothma, get Leia out of here! We have a situation!"

As Beast and Wolverine argued, Thing walked over to Thor. Putting a craggy orange hand on his back, he smiled at the powerless Thunder God.

"Hey, man." He said. "Don't be so sad and down. I bet you can still whack a couple of wannabe villains with your bodybuilder body."

Thor chuckled slightly. "Thank you my friend. 'Tis comforting to know I have friends I can count on!"

Suddenly, the building shook, and Thor looked outside. Several beasts of unknown design were falling from the sky just like a futuristic Ragnarok!

Spinning Mjolnir at high speed, he yelled out; "Avengers, let us assemble!" and jumped out the window, then fell!

He was caught by Ben just before he fell out of reach.

"Didn't we just talk about this?" Thing laughed.

Thor looked away in embarrasment. The other heroes decided it was time to fight.
