Chapter 12

May was in hurry. 'I know how he looks, so maybe I will find him.' May thought to herself. "Drew, we'd better get separated. It will be quicker to spread out." May said. "Not safer. You don't want anything to happen to you like what Dawn got, right?"` Drew said, sounding protective. "Well, no. But that doesn't matter as long as we get him." Drew blinked. "Are you serious?" He asked. Obviously not believing what was he hearing from the girl's mouth. She was in same age as him and he wouldn't dare to think like that.

"May, listen to me. Imagine Dawn and Hilda feeling the way you felt when Dawn was injured. You don't want to give that feeling to them, right?" Drew said, trying to persuade her to follow his way. May looked at Drew, sad eyes, surprised eyes, thankful eyes. But sad was taking a bigger part. "Mission is first. My personal feeling is far less important during it. I saw Dawn failed to deal with her own. And how she was crazy for a month after that. Mission is first." May said, looking down with determined look. 'Is this that important to them?' Drew wondered. 'Is it the same way with the rest? Who in the world raised them to this? They are…..' Drew followed May up to the South while sending two Pokemons of their own to the East.

Hilda was getting annoyed by Hilbert. Doesn't he know that they were supposed to be quiet and looking for Phantom? "Hilbert, stop blabbering and focus on finding him." Hilda hissed. Hilbert shrugged. "You take things too seriously, Hilda." Hilbert said as he silently looked around. Hilbert turned to Hilda, "I have a question. Why did you become a spy?" Hilbert smiled. Hilda looked up. "Because I wanted to have a revenge. It started like that. Now, I'm just this way." Hilda said.

"Can't you change it? And become a normal girl? I like you better that way." Hilbert said, looking away from her. Hilda remained silent. "I'm sorry Hilbert. I cannot accept your feelings. I have to go back someday. I am not going to stay here." Hilda said and kept on walking, looking down with a sad expression. Hilbert looked pretty shocked. "Why? I said you can live as a normal girl! You don't have to live this way, you can be like me!"

Hilda sighed, "I don't want to be like you. I don't want to live like a normal student. I chose this life and I'm going to continue this way. You can't force me to do what you want to be. Even my mother didn't do it. My father died, and I chose to live this way." Hilda put ear plugs into her ears and continued to search for Phantom.

Hilbert looked away a bit and then as he looked up, he found Driftblim, with Phantom hanging on it. "Hilda." Hilbert called. Of course, she didn't hear him. "Hilda." Hilbert repeated and turned around to see him. But she was gone. She had walked away, not knowing anything. "Damn shit." Hilbert swore and followed Phantom.

Hilda thought the city wasn't so crowded as usual. And since she only lived here only about half a year she decided to ask Hilbert to ask is it usually like this during this time of the year, but he wasn't there. "Hilbert?" Hilda called out. No answer. Hilda became worried, usually she isn't like this but this was Hilbert. "Hilbert?" She called out once more, desperately wishing there would be an answer. She hoped this as a trick that Hilbert was pulling and unfortunately this wasn't. "Hilbert!" Hilda shouted and ran down the street, looking around everywhere.

May heard familiar voice and realized that it was Hilda. Soon she and Drew ran into her. "Hilda?" Drew asked. Hilda was panting from all those running, "Hilbert's gone." Hilda managed to say and looked up, her eyes tearing up. "Please tell me that he's going to be fine." Hilda said with a very small voice. Drew and May looked at each other, not getting used to this Hilda. Hilda herself didn't know why she was being like this. But all she cared for now was safety of Hilbert.

Hilbert followed Phantom to the forest. 'This is where Paul and Dawn are. Maybe I should just leave.' Hilbert thought to himself but even if he go back he didn't know where Hilda was so he decided to just follow Phantom. He tried not to make any sound and kept following until he saw a cabin and realized that Phantom disappeared.

Hilbert turned back to find Hilda but as soon as he turned around, Phantom was standing there. "Phantom…" Hilbert said under his breath as he stepped backward slowly. "Spying on me?" Phantom asked. "No. Of course not. I came here to look for Paul." Hilbert heard himself lying. "No need to lie. I saw you following me." Phantom said as he took out his Pokeball and released Gengar. "Poison Jab." Phantom said and Gengar's fist turned light purple and aimed it toward Hilbert, making a horrifying laughter.

Hilbert quickly dodged it and grabbed one of his Pokeballs. 'Please….' He thought and threw it up in the air, releasing Raichu. "Raichu, Thunder!" He shouted. Raichu started to build up its electric energy and fired it at Gengar. But even before it hit Gengar, he disappeared into shadows. Raichu looked around, looking for his opponent. "Shadow Punch." A black fist appeared from Raichu's shadow and punched it with full force. Raichu fell on the ground, unconscious.

Hilbert returned his Pokemon, feeling sorry. "Emboar, Flame Charge!" Hilbert cried out as he threw another Pokeball. With white beam turning red, it charged at Gengar and tackled it. But it hardly damaged his opponent. "Pathetic." Phantom said, and how creepy it was for Hilbert that his tone reminded him of Paul so much that he almost saw Paul. Paul… Paul….. It struck Hilbert. He returned his Pokemon and send out his Exploud. "Uproar!" Hilbert said quickly putting in earplugs. Exploud started to make loud screeching sound. Phantom and Gengar both blocked their ears as Hilbert safely escaped them, Exploud followed his trainer as it kept making noises.

Please understand if it doesn't make any sense. I wrote the beginning of the chapter before I took the break and wrote the rest today.
