Skeletons in the closet

You said you don't have to speak
I can hear you
I can't feel all the things you've ever felt before
I said it's been a long time
Since someone looked at me that way
It's like you knew me
And all the things I couldn't say

Daenerys never ceased to amaze the Trickster God. He had listened intently when she told him the many stories from the past year he had not been in her presence, thoroughly enjoying all of them. He watched her lovingly as she shook her head with a smile. "He wouldn't stop trying to wed me! It was utterly ridiculous." She turned her bright violet eyes back to him, just those orbs on him made him feel differently. "He promised me all the gold in Qarth if I married him."

Loki smiled as the carriage hit a small bump. Oddly enough he didn't feel a pang of jealousy that she was getting attention from men when he was not around to make sure they stayed away, because he knew she was smarter than that. "I knew he only wanted to wed me because he'd be entitled to my dragons." He watched as she pet her long slender finger down the spine of the dragon and shrugged. "Long story short my handmaiden had betrayed me as well as Xaro, so I had them trapped in his own empty vault. Imagine if I had wed him, I would have lost my dragons and I wouldn't have any gold to get a ship.." She glanced over her shoulder to Loki and stared at him for a moment. "But I wouldn't have wed him at all, Loki."

Loki merely shook his had at her comment, it was so adorable. "You would have did what you needed done."

Her eyes narrowed at his comment, her face stiffening. "Have you been with another woman since we were apart?" Oh, perhaps he pulled a delicate string with her on that one. Loki shook his head.

"Of course I haven't Daenerys." He tried to assure the woman that had a mere brow raised at him with an expression that he could only label as suspicious. He stared at her for a moment before he watched her relax with a smile, looking back down to their child in her arms. Their carriage continued to wobble down the beige brick road that led down the countryside.

"Have you been married before?" This time her expression wasn't one that he though looked suspicious, but rather curious. Though he did seem to have a hard time formulating an answer she would like. He bounced between two things he could say in his mind before he gave her an answer. He didn't quite understand why she was suddenly so interested in this now – she could have asked him this when he was still in Asgard, after all, they did get about 10 months together before he plunged down into space.

"Yes I have." Loki didn't really like beating around the bush with her because she was a woman that liked to ask questions and the more questions she asked the more she may be angry with him. She raised her brow at her husband again as she repositioned the tot in her arms.

"I didn't know that. Who was it?" Loki thought perhaps all this time away made Daenerys miss him so much where it got to the point of her jealousy burning within her. He could hear said sin within her voice, it wavered angrily, and he hoped that she couldn't tell that he could see right through her.

"You don't understand just how much older I am than you, love. I've been alive for over a thousand years," he smiled a caring smile that he hoped would quell her nerves, "Both Thor and I have been married a few times. I believe it goes without saying that the marriages never really last long since we were still young when they happened."

She smiled daintily at him. "Well you're still considered young compared to some of the other God's. Would I just be another mistaken marriage with a young girl that wouldn't last?" Even though the subject was touchy she played it off as just curiosity, that beautiful smile decorating her lips to emphasize her point that she meant no harm. From past experiences with women, when they tried to show they meant no harm, that's all they really ever intended to do.

"You and I have lasted longer than my other two marriages." She scooted closer to him on the bench of the carriage, breathing deeply. He could see from the corner of his eye that she clutched Rhaenerys' sleeping body closer to her chest. "Believe me, they did not last long."

She huffed and rested her head against his armour clad shoulder, her lips turning into a pout, thinking to herself that she only wanted him to herself. Even if those marriages did not last long. They weren't her. "And you promise you don't have any other children?"

She could hear him gulp and her head snapped upwards to stare at him with hardened violet eyes. "Right Loki, you don't have any more children?" He looked down upon her with those green eyes she adored, but she couldn't help the jealousy monster that kept growing within her mind. Her whole body felt hot now.

Loki was really at a loss for words now. "Well I wouldn't really call her my child, just.." His brows furrowed for a moment, it had happened such a long time ago he didn't even know what really happened. "She was, I suppose, you could say, 'made?'"

"Regular children are made." Daenerys told him wryly with a raised brow. "'She'd' be your child if she was made."

"She wasn't made in a regular manner." He told her, almost unsure of himself at this point. Did he just make a big mistake by telling her? "She was made by magic, my first wife was a highly skilled sorceress and thought it would be a pleasant idea to make a child in such a way that wasn't regular." Loki shrugged. "She was, however; made with both our DNA but she was never my child. Odin had cast her off at such a young age that I never got the chance to be her father."

Daenerys lowered her head and cuddled back up to his side, holding Rhaenerys' tighter than ever. "Oh.." She murmured almost to herself, the tone of her voice lowering substantially. "I'm sorry that happened.. Why did he cast her off?"

He shrugged once more, careful of her head on his shoulder. "I never asked him. I suppose the only viable reason would be because he is simply Odin, and he believes that he has the power to cast away whoever he wants without reason. That and because he didn't quite like my first wife, I believe."

Well, that was some news she wasn't expecting. Perhaps not seeing each other in over a year can really expose things about the other you didn't think were possible. Cast off? Cast off where? And what was the true reason? She had so many more questions but she thought maybe he was in a tender state bringing up such facts. "Just one more question. Where was she cast off to? Surely it couldn't have been bad.." After all, she was just a child, wasn't she? Maybe she could have had a better life somewhere, though after Daenerys thought that up she told herself that Asgard was a wonderful place to live.

"You don't need to worry about her, Daenerys." He smiled lovingly to her as he spoke. "It wont happen to Rhaenerys. If you need to quell your curiosity, I'll leave you with the knowledge that she is the Queen of the Underworld now, and doing just fine on her own since she was cast off there."

Queen of the Underworld!? Daenerys gasped to herself suddenly, it was like a ton of bricks smashing into her face. She's a Queen? Both her brows were raised with shock How come he had not told her this sooner? That Rhaenerys had a sort of sister? Daenerys wondered what Loki's first somewhat daughter was like – what kind of person she was, if she looked like Loki at all, what kind of ruler she was! Daenerys tapped her lips to herself silently. Perhaps she could ask around Qarth for some answers. She wondered what her name was.

The carriage slowed down and eventually hit a stop in front of the docks and docking hut, where Daenerys' ship was still set, waiting for her return. With the help of Loki, she hopped out of the carriage with the amazingly still sleeping child slumped over in her arms, taking a few steps toward the large docks. Her eyes darted around in a panicked manner – remembering that she and Loki were now probably being scouted out for Odin.

She looked at the man that ran the docks – he waved his scarred, calloused hand to her when she approached, and she smiled to him, noticing the fish he had laying upon a tree stump. He was busy gutting it. He doesn't know.. She glanced around to the men that worked the docks and they didn't even lift their heads to her, they were too busy passing around a bottle of mead they stole off a ship from Pentos and unraveling a tangled rope. Hm, the news hasn't reached this far. She looked over her shoulder to Loki, who occasionally looked back to the gleaming castle to make sure Odin and Thor were no where to be seen. "I don't want to stick around here for long, Loki. I'm worried that they will send their guards for us."

He nodded to her as they stepped upon the rotten wooden steps to get to Daenerys' ship. Immediately heads popped up and waved and nodded to Daenerys, her followers. They were all relatively tanned men, they didn't fit in well with these fair skinned people. "Who are these men in your ship?" Loki questioned her suspiciously as he crossed his arms over his chest, watching as their faces grew confused when they looked upon Loki. Were they a pack of bandits that intended on stealing her boat?

"They are only a few of my followers. I couldn't fit them all onto this ship, I had to leave many in Qarth. They're fine." She paced toward the three large wired cages that were propped up against dark rotten barrels beside the flimsy wooden board to her ship. "Here you go..." She said casually to her dragons as she unfastened the wire clips that held the doors shut with one hand, while Loki slid his hands underneath Rhaenerys' arms and stole her away.

About an hour after her ship had departed from the land that touched Asgard, Daenerys sat quietly at a small wooden table that was set up against the wall of her bargemaster's suite, absentmindedly prodding her food with the tip of her fork. She pushed it this way and that way in a subconscious way to make herself think she was actually eating the food that was provided to her, but in reality she had only taken a bite or two from the not so appetizing meal. She rested her chin on the palm of her hand with her elbow propped up on the table in front of her, her eyes watched as Loki laid the still sleeping Rhaenerys into the makeshift cradle, which was actually made from a cut up cot and spare spokes if the ship's steering wheel had ever broken.

"It's amazing she's still sleeping. I usually could never get her to sleep for more than just four hours in the night time." Daenerys mentioned as Loki turned around and once again faced her, she looked back down to her still full plate and laid the metal fork down onto the rim, making a small clinking sound. She listened to his footfalls as he approached her table, wrapping his fingers around the top of the chair and pulled it out, taking a seat across from her.

"Yes, well, I assume she couldn't go to sleep while she was not with you, and I doubt the dragons helped her at all." He replied coolly as he fiddled around with a small widget in his hands, flipping it over curiously between his fingers as he spoke. "Perhaps now that she's back with you and getting a good nights rest her sleeping habits will even out."

Dany merely snorted at the comment, waving it off like it was nothing. "Now that you're back, her sleeping habits will even out - and perhaps even her temperament will simmer down, which will hopefully end those god awful tantrums she pulls, the one's you could only stop."

Loki genuinely smiled at her, though half his attention was still glued to the trinket he still possessed. "You think she could tell I was gone?"

A baffled look decorated her face at his slew of words he managed to string together. "Of course she could tell! Even if it was a long year, and a long one at that, I don't think she could ever forget her father." She smiled at him, still baffled that Loki would ever think so lowly as his position as Rhaenerys' father. "You know, she's even begun using basic magic." It felt weird for her to even say that about her own child, using magic! She watched as Loki raised a singular brow as he took her fork off her plate and poked a piece of meat off her plate, holding the fork in front of himself for inspection.

"Really?" He questioned, swirling the fork around to look at it from all angles to see if there was something wrong that caused his wife's dislike. "That's exceptionally early, though it's a good sign. I led myself to think that none of my children would use magic like I do."

Daenerys cocked her head with a small smile on her shell pink lips, pulling on the small frayed hems of the fabric place mat in front of her. "What about your first daughter, does she have magical abilities?" She mentally cursed herself for bring it up but her curiosity won over her other sense's and it just came out! She watched him nervously, picking at the hem more often now, but his eyes never strayed from the piece of meat.

"Immense magical abilities." Her heart rate slowed down as she realized he wasn't truly too irked about her prying questions. On the inside she grinned happily because she was one step closer to learning about her daughters half sister. Siting back against the back of the chair, she watched as Loki took a bite of the meat off the fork. Her grin widened as his chewing slowed down after a moment of chewing, coming to a halt soon after.

She laughed heartily. "You should have taken me not eating it as a sign of bad tasting food." Loki shrugged a tad before he continued chewing it hesitantly, swallowing it thickly before patting his mouth the the pure white napkin propped up on the side of the table.

"Yes I should have." He placed the fork back down on her plate and folded his hands over his lap, not quite happy with the taste he just struggled through. It could not compare to the fine meats Asgard was in full supply of, not even close. He eyed the food almost angrily, because he knew if all the food away from Asgard tasted like this he was in for a real treat. "I don't think your dragons would complain if we gave them this, and I suppose we wouldn't be wasting the food."

Later in the evening Loki found himself looking through the small port window of their room carefully. Asgard was nothing but a small glimmer off in the distance now but it never calmed the nerves that still bothered him. It was still possible for Thor to come barreling through the water as if he were a water serpent.. Loki gulped to himself, every worry now wracking up on his shoulders, and he was beginning to think he couldn't handle it. Could Odin track him all the way to.. Wherever they were going? Surely he couldn't - there were many boats on the ocean this evening, and even when they first left the dock! He slowly touched his cold fingers to the cold delicate skin of his lips, feeling the entry holes already beginning to harden with scar tissue. One day they'd pay for these eyesore's, he promised that much.

When he finally turned around from the window he was so stuck on he already found Daenerys curled up in their bed, her violet eyes tracking his every move. He could only imagine how tired she was after all the events she went through this day. Plus, the stars had littered the deep blue sky already, a sign to most people that it was high time to rest their heads. "Are you tired?" Loki inquired as he paced over to the lone dresser opposite of their bed, beginning the daunting task of unbuckling every buckle and unfastening the straps that held his heavy armor in place. As he took hold of the golden gauntlet that graces his wrist and laid it upon the smooth surface, he heard the rustling of the duvet on their bed.

"Not tired enough." Daenerys merely replied in a tone Loki could only read as suggestive. He smirked at her witty response with a raised brow, continuing to strip off the armor that weighed him down.

Still curled up on the side of the bed Daenerys claimed as her own as she sheepishly pulled the blanket so only her eyes could be spotted. Her cheeks were now flushed with a vibrant red color, and she hoped the blanket would cover at least that much. Why she said that, she did not know. Many things were coming out of her mouth that she didn't even think twice about and led to her full embarrassment in front of her husband, which was something she never intended to do. She curled her toes slowly to regain the warmth and continued to stare at him until he took the last piece of his gleaming armor off, placing it down carefully along with the rest. He was left in his dark emerald green tunic and deep black trousers that held to his body just the way she liked - showing off how incredibly lean his body really was. His figure wasn't so disgustingly huge like Thor's, nor was it so lanky and thin like the men that slept in the alleys.

When he turned around she could feel her whole body heat up from an unknown cause. It felt like she was back in the groaning flames in the city center. She eyed him cautiously as he paced back over to his side of their bed, taking a seat on the not so comfortable bed beside her. She curled her fingers around the soft fabric of the bed slowly, letting her eyes drift around on different parts of his body.

She watched intently as he leaned back against the headboard of the bed with a long sigh she couldn't interpret. With a sudden burst of courage, Dany leaned up from her ball position in the blankets to wrap her left arm fully around his lean torso, then she confidently rested her cheek upon his chest quite happily. "I missed you." After they stayed in that position for a solid five minutes, each loving every second of it, cherishing it, Daenerys took it upon herself to pull herself forward and place a chaste kiss upon his lips, being careful of those puncture wounds. "I hope that didn't hurt."

Loki shook his head, a quizzical expression marked his face. With a swift movement of his arms, she was suddenly straddling his waist with the duvet still draped over her shoulders. Oh how she loved him! Enthusiastically throwing her arms over his shoulders, she let their lips meet once again, a long, awaited kiss. She combed her fingers through his ink black hair as she did so, finally able to take in the fact that he was in fact here to stay and she better not take her time with him for granted. She hadn't felt that silky black hair between her fingers in so long, nor did she feel the warm embrace he brought her in as they kissed. She grimaced as her high continued to heighten to a point where she thought she might just blow away, but Loki's arms that had wrapped themselves around her figure prevented that from ever happening.

When Daenerys finally broke off their kiss, she pressed her forehead into the surprisingly warm nape of his neck and let out a long slightly shaky breath that she tried to control, gripping his shoulders gently. His cool icy breath showered against her own neck that raised small bumps atop her skin, sending shivers down her spin and making her back involuntarily arch slightly. Some things never changed.

Daenerys drew a long breath in through her nose and pushed against her hands against the headboard in front of her so she could look him straight in the eyes. "As I said, I'm not tired enough."

AN: Welp, thanks again for the reviews! They make me happy and give me inspiration to write. I've kind of taken a bit of a detour with the beginning of this chapter, and for those of you who actually read the original version of this story (please don't) you may have an idea to where I'm going with this 'other daughter' thing. Also if you've brushed up on your basic Norse mythology you'd know that Loki did indeed have a daughter that was cast off and such, and I wanted to incorporate her into some events in the future. It's not much of a change to my original plot but it's something that I thought would kind of give more detail into what's going to happen with Daenerys.

I'm sorry if this chapter is too much filler, but I thought my original story lacked the romance/basic interaction between Loki and Daenerys so I just wanted to throw more in there. Song in the beginning is 'Together' by The XX.

Disclaimer: I don't own THOR or GOT.
