A few minutes later Robin met Barney in front of his house and they decided to go see what movies are playing at the local movie theater. They haven't seen each other for two years since he went off to college and so just hanging out after so long apart was a little nerve racking because they had forgotten how great it was to hang out with your best friend every day and because of their feelings for each other, they just loved to be close to each other. They, walk down the street towards the local shopping center, they're quiet as first but then start to talk to each other.

It's been a weird couple of years for both of them, they had their ups and they had their downs and both were missing each other everyday, besides that one time Robin surprised him by showing up at his door all the way across the country. They, went to get something to eat first, because because were hungry, so they went to an old hangout of theirs, as they waited for their food orders they started talking...

"So what's been going on with you since I left?" Barney asked starting the conversation wondering what Robin has been up to since they broke up and he left to college.

"Um, well I am going to start college soon, California State." He's really happy that she got into college, he hoped she would major in journalism because that's what she told him she wanted to do. So, that's what she says next. "I'm, majoring in Journalism, hopefully will get a Masters in Journalism it's what I want to do in the future." Robin said smiling proud of herself for finally moving on and finding her place without moving across the country or back home to Canada.

It has been lonely and depressing ever since they broke up and for Robin the only way to get over the devastation of their breakup was to start fresh and since college was only a year away after their breakup she decided to further her education and do something that she's always wanted to do. Get a degree in Journalism because she wants to become one of those World News anchors. Yes, she's ahead of herself at this age but she hoped college will be her stepping stone into that world, that career field.

"Wow, that's great Robin. I'm so happy for you, I remember you telling me that you wanted to become a journalist so I'm glad you are perusing that." Barney didn't think she would actually do what she set her future goals, but she is. When they first started dating Robin told Barney all about her future plans and he told her what he wanted to do. Barney always wanted to work in the math field, he wanted to become a mathematician or maybe an accountant (he becomes a banker) but Robin always wanted to become a famous anchor on a big news show. That's what they told each other what their dreams are and hoped they would come true someday. But, for now Barney's just happy that Robin didn't change her mind about what she wanted to do in the future as a career.

"Thank you. What about you? What is college like? And have you decided to become a mathematician?" Robin ask hoping that Barney decided to do the same thing she's doing. Pursuing his dream career in the math field since he's so smart and it's always been a dream that he one day do something he loved doing.

"College is great, it's fun and so exhausting at times but I like it. I've even made great friends. I majored in Mathematics so that didn't change I still want to become a mathematician my fallback plan is an accountant but hopefully that won't happen." He, doesn't really have any other career options, he hadn't thought of anything else he wanted to do but he hoped going into this field would work for him.

"Good for you, I'm glad you stuck with what you set out to do when you were choosing colleges." Robin is so proud of Barney, yes it's been lonely since he left but it was worth it for him because she always wants the best for him and his dreams were always her dreams and vice versa.

"Yeah, when I graduate I hope to find a job in my field but until then all I can do is hope." Barney smiled lightly and then continued to eat their food before leaving and going back to his mothers house.

What little did Barney had never became a mathematician or an accountant (however he does eventually work with numbers at a bank) but the career he set out to do was all but a hopeful plan for him. Instead, he became a banker, it was still working in the world of math and working around money. It wasn't what he wanted to do but sometimes your plans don't always work out in the long run. He'll be happy with his future job but still hoped to quit that job one day however that didn't happen until he was much older and retired from his job. Even though he was never quite happy or satisfied working at a bank he didn't want to quit that job and end up with nothing or nowhere to go. But, everything changed for the better after becoming a banker and he wouldn't have changed anything because if he left his banking job or left New York he and Robin would've never gotten together again.

They, didn't get to see a movie because there was nothing they wanted to see so instead they just walked around after eating, they talked for two hours before walking back slowly to Barney's mother's house.

Once they returned to Barney's house they continued to talk until it got late and Robin had to go home. Later that weekend after her weekend trip with her new boyfriend Loretta came home to find her son waiting for her.

"Barney? When did you get here?" Loretta asked shocked to see Barney again after not seeing or talking to him for sometime.

"Friday afternoon!" He replied as he smiled and hugged his mother.

"It's good to see you too mom." He said in a sarcastic tone.

"Well, I'm just shocked to see you here. You could have told me you were coming I would've canceled my trip." Loretta said not quite happy with her son for not telling her he was coming.

"I wanted to surprise you and I thought you would be home when I got here but Robin told me that you were away. Sorry, I should have told you I was coming but it was a surprise so... I'm here. I spent some time with Robin while you were away." He smiles, really happy to have caught up with Robin after two years being apart and heartbroken over each other.

"Don't worry about it, it's fine I'm happy you're here it's been a while since I saw you. How are you?" The shock of her son home finally wore off and soon Loretta and Barney were sitting in the kitchen talking about everything from college to Loretta sudden new boyfriend. It still shocked Barney that she had to keep Peter a secret from him but he seems to be a good guy and his mother seems happy with him.

"I'm happy for you mom. So when am I going to meet this Peter guy?" Barney asked hoping to get to see this guy his mother is gushing about before he leaves back to Connecticut.

"How about tomorrow? I will call him and let him know." Loretta didn't hesitate to let Barney meet Peter so she called him and he will becoming over the next day for dinner.
