Continuing where the last chapter had ended... Barney and Robin meeting again, it's important that this chapter follows suit from the last chapter in which they meet up again and talk. I explained they already saw each other five years earlier. But, now this is starting to change into the future part of this story.

2005

When, Barney went to Maclaren's that late afternoon he never thought he would be going to see his past come back to haunt him once again. He, hadn't seen her since he went to visit his mom unexpectedly six and a half years ago. So, it was a shock to him that after all this time he sees her again after trying to get over her by dating Shannon. Of, course that ended badly but not as heartbreaking as his other breakups with Robin. It, was just more harder for him to breakup with Robin than any other girl because he's never stopped thinking or loving her in all these years. When, Robin sees him across the room she hadn't thought of him in four years, but when she sees him it all comes back to her again.

He, had broken his promise to her, to no matter what call or write her but that didn't happen. She, had called him a couple of time after seeing him that day at his mother's house, but he never responded, her calls always went to voicemail. When, Loretta told her that Barney lived in New York a year before, she had forgotten that he still lives here, because she had forgotten about him after she started college. She, had dated three guys seriously through those four years. Her, last relationship was the longest, she dated that guy for a year and a half before she broke it off when they graduated. After, college she decided to a follow up degree at NYU, so she moved to New York in 2003 not realizing that Barney has been living here for two years.

It, was a shock to both of them to see each other again after all these years. When, she was about to go over to him to talk for the first time in five years, he had brushed her off by a tap on the shoulder. He, ran away after that to the bathroom to get away from her but not before introducing her to Ted whom she hadn't known about at all, but Barney has known him since college so it doesn't end up being weird once she does decide to take him up on a date offer.

She, really wanted to talk to Barney not get a date with his friend but she goes anyway... but had thought about Barney the whole time.

"So, um do you know that blond guy you were with?" Robin asks, wanting to ask if Ted knew who Barney was or was just going along with what Barney was doing in order for Barney to get away from her, faster than ever before.

"Yeah, he's my friend. I've known him since college." Uh ha, that's interesting. Robin thought, as she ate her salad.

"Oh. And, who is he? What's his name?" She continues to ask questions making Ted wonder why she wants to know about his friend when she's on this date with him not Barney.

"His name is Barney. I've known him since Freshman year in college, we were almost in the same dorm room together but then that was wrong at the time because the school assigned me the wrong room at first so we met in the administration office. I ended up being someone elses roommate, my other best friend Marshall. But, yeah I've been friends with him since college." She's amazing that not once in those years when they saw each other, Barney had never talked about his college life, not any of his friends or what he was doing in those four years. The, only other person she knew about was Shannon. But, she doesn't know if they kept dating after her unexpected visit or if they still did date, which makes her wonder.

As, Ted went on about his job and architecture she started to drift off thinking about Barney. As, the date went on she got distracted which Ted picked up on, so they ended the date with him taking her back to her apartment.

"Listen, this was a nice date but I don't think I want to date anyone right now." She says, Robin had been really off all night and couldn't really be into much of what was going on on that date, so calling it a night was for the best... for everyone.

"Alright, but it was still nice getting to go out with you." He says nicely. Ted, had been wondering what was going on with Robin all throughout dinner. The questions about Barney really threw him, he was kind of curious to know what that was about.

"Yeah, you too. I had a nice time..." really? Because it really wasn't that great for him.

"Um, before I go... I was wondering about why you had asked all those questions about Barney. It really was odd for you to talk about him and not at me ot about me, or really talk about getting to know each other. All you mentioned the whole dinner was Barney. Do, you um know him?" Ted, seemed like a nice enough guy for her to tell things to. But, this wasn't the right time to do that. They, just met, it would be weird to talk about something very personal to her so she doesn't and just says.

"No, I just wanted to know who your friend was that's all." She says, smiling hoping this would get him to stop asking her questions so she can go inside.

She, has a lot of things to do including feeding her dogs and important, most importantly. Find, out where Barney lives so she could go see him after years of being apart and breaking promises.

Luckily, Ted leaves and she goes upstairs. She, feeds her dogs then goes to the yellow pages to look up Barney's address. She really needs to see him, she has missed him but she was still made he broke his promise to her again.

She, finds his name in the yellow pages and writes down his address. She, was so tired this night but she needed to go do this... she needs to see him, because seeing him at the bar was shocking sure, but it brought back everything she tried to put behind her. Her, long lost love showing up again was like some kind of destiny...
