The mission part 5

Carter's POV

I was walking to the pantheon which the riddle said that it's the Temple of the gods, it is a magnificent building but I am not here for sight seeing, as I came in I was revealed that it's not Sunday today, cause if it is then I would be interrupting a reception and praying people, but I need to search the keys that will help me open the door to the artifact of the ancient race, the Templar's may be closing in on it but they still need the keys to help open the doors. 4 hours of searching and I found nothing, no keys of any sort, I was about to call it a day and come back later then something caught my eye, there is a symbol on a pedestal of a statue of the virgin Mary, as I got their from what it look like a horse shoe with edges on the side but it looked more like Ω, that is a symbol that I have never seen before and there is a thin hole and it's wide enough for a dagger to get in, so I set out my blade and and slot it in and twist it like a key and then the pedestal opened a door and some stairs, I was completely awe struck by the technology of it.

"How can ancient technology be so advanced? I wonder."

I have no time to stand there and admire it, I have to get down there and search for the keys and and I must get out get the artifact and free the prisoner (who is a member of an ancient race that is suppose to be long gone) from the Templar's, once I got in the door and the stairs close by them selves, cutting of my only know exit rout but I have but one choice, I must go through the endless dark of this chamber. It was so dark that I wished for light, but I didn't brought a torch or something with me so I am completely lost in the dark, I was walking though the halls for an hour using my sense of touch to guide me through then I heard voices, I start to follow it and I found some light, the ceiling of the room has a hole that pours in sunlight which is now a relief but the voices that I heard were from two men who are around a fire to warm them up, judging them from the black tunics and the white crucifix embedded on it, I could already tell that those are Templar men-at-arms, I started to wonder what they were talking about so I started to listen to them.

"Christ Boris do you know how long we have been here?!"

"I have been here a few days."

"(Scoft) seven months I tell you, I have been here for seven months!"

"Yeah and I can tell that you are completely impatient now are you?"

"Of coarse, we have already found this place and we still haven't the keys, how much more do we have to wait?!"

"I don't know but what I do know is that we will find out one way or another."

"Your right, cause when we learned about this artifact we searched it for two years and we already have gotten troubles by some Syrians who are killing non stop."

"I have heard that they spread them selves across the Mediterranean sea."

"Yes I know and we have been searching in this city as well."

"It is a big city Marcus, it kind of reminds me of Constantinople, the capitol of the Byzantine empire."

"It does?"

"Yes it does, you should see it, very well defended and and also it is very beautiful."

"I hope so if we get out of here alive, the grand master has send us here to rot, I tell you, he has gone completely bonkers when he found out that the ancient race still lives, I never knew that they look like us only allot more warlike."

"Yeah I met that kid, he seems harmless but what you said is true, but don't worry we will get all of the others."

"Maybe, these people are almost impossible to find."

"Your right about that."

Their conversation seems pretty interesting, plus it's a relieve that the Templar's haven't found it yet, that must either mean that this tunnel goes deep or the keys are well hidden, I was about to get down till I see a Templar knight walking up to them.

"Oi you two what do you think this is, a vacation? you getting paid to kill not sit. now get to work and stat patrolling."

The two men-at-arms extinguished the fire and start to walk to the door but then I could tell the Marcus is a little impatient with it cause they haven't found the keys yet.

"Don't worry Marcus we'll find that key soon and we will get out of here."

"I hope so Boris cause I have been down here a very long time."

As they went in the gate and locked it I must look for any other type of entrances that might be more useful for me to get through with out being seen, I scanned around and I saw a opening that might work, the problem was that it's high up but I see some beams that might come in use so I started to jump on the beams and start to go to the hole, as I jump and creep around the beams I cot closer to the hole, once I got close I saw that it is big enough for me, as I went through I saw a hallway that went down to the another chamber so I jumped down and walked up to the chamber, I scanned around for another opening but there is non, I have a feeling that I must have a key to open the gate which is the only way to the next chamber, but there are more Templar's and a knight so the keys must be on the knight, I scanned around for him till I heard his voice started barking.

"Any luck yet William?"

"No sir, they are still looking for them."

"They better get them or the grand master will have our heads."

The knight was on a balcony on top of the gate which makes him out of reach, but there is a bridge that helps to get to him, but the problem is that it's so high and about a dozen Templar's are paroling so I must act carefully, I start to sneak around the guards and walk up the steps, I encountered two guards on my way up but I took care of them, once I got up the bridge is being patrolled by two pike man Templar's, I walk up to them and kill them silently, and the knight is the last so I walk up to a hanging plank that I could use as a bridge, I jumped up on it and I creep up to the knight, I waited for the right moment to jump on him and then at the crucial moment I jumped on him for a kill, I took the key from him and went to the gate, as I got to the gate I opened it and as I went through there is another chamber and also there is a hole on the wall high up, but there are crates that I could climb on, as I got on them and went through the hole I got into another chamber and there are more Templar's, and the knight is patrolling and inspecting, there are platforms perfect for an aerial assassination so I jumped up to the platforms and picked the right one for the ambush. I waited many minutes till he comes to the trap, I timed it right and jumped on him and killed him, like the knight before I took his keys and move carefully to the gate, as I got to it I opened it and went through, but that didn't spare me for being stealth, the men-at-arms start to yell and I knew that I must hide so I hid behind a crate and they started running out.

"Someone is here, every one sound the alarm and be on guard, Antonio you guard this spot."

"Yes sir."

They all went though another gate and lock them selves in and Antonio is alone, he is armed with a crossbow and he has a quiver full of bolts, I sneaked around the Templar and got behind him, I walk up to him and stabbed him in the back with my blades, I picked up his crossbow, spanned it and load it, I took the quiver of bolts and put it on my belt, the crossbow could be a useful weapon, but I need to get to the keys, so I went up to a hole that is open to a chamber and as I went through there are about thirty nine Templar's total, and there was a knight in the middle of the room, one of the men at arms came up to him and started talking, I put my ears open and listen.

"Walsh what are you and your men doing here, you should be with your commander."

"I know sir but-"

"But nothing go now back to where you are suppose to be at where you stationed."

"But sir."

"No buts orders are orders go now."

"But sir my commander is dead, along with sir Rodrick!"

"Dead? Are you pulling my leg?"

"No sir I mean, it's the truth."

"You sure?"

"Yes I'm sure, in fact they have been stabbed in the neck and it was fresh, that could only mean that some one is in here with us."

"(loud and to all the soldiers) Everyone be on guard, there is an intruder in here, I want this man dead."

They start to patrol with cation, but what they didn't know was that I start to take the high grounds, one after another I fired bolts till I was empty, and that means one thing, I jumped on the knight and killed him but then I am vulnerable and I blew my cover, the Templar's start to charge at me and I drew my sword and dagger, they came in with sword, pike, and mace, they all start to get me and I dodged every single blade and kill them with my sword, the battle lasted a full two minutes, and after that I took the knights keys and went through it, the last chamber was big but it is empty, no wonder that they couldn't find the keys, the door to them is completely concealed from sigh, so I start walk to the walls and searched through them, until I found the same symbol from the Pantheon, the same Ω, I pressed it and the door fell, and there was an alter with a statue behind it, as I walked up to it I saw the keys, they are round circles and they way they are made with glowing lines I start to think that this is a type of technology more advanced than us, but these artifacts are ancient, I still don't know why they have advanced technology in the past but how? I can't find an answer so I picked them up and start to look for an exit.
