Chapter Seventeen- First Time for Everything

"What do you think you're doing," Kagome asked in an even voice.

Sesshomaru wasn't sure what to do or so. He had never anticipated being in such an awkward position before. There was no suitable reply for what he was doing. He had to justify this somehow.

"You have been avoiding me so I just thought..."

"Just thought, what?" Kagome cut him off. "You thought it was okay to invade my privacy like this?"

"You let me read your blog. I didn't think there was much difference...or that you would mind so much."

"Reading a public blog is a lot different than reading my personal journal! And you know that very well Sesshomaru! Otherwise why would you be sneaking around to do it, hm?"

The taiyoukai felt guilty but then his pride pushed forth. "What about your sneaking around? Looking for a job so you can leave me? After all I've done for you, aren't you being pretty ungrateful?"

Kagome's situation had not been ideal from the start but she had accepted it as gracefully as possible, keeping a lot bottled in and Sesshomaru had just blown that cap off.

"First off," Kagome began, "Girls don't live with their boyfriend's family during high school. It's very normal for me to want my own place. This living situation however is not so normal. Second off it was your dad who had planned everything out and then brought me here and provided for me, not you. And lastly Sesshomaru, you are the one who barely talks to me. You're overly possessive and scare off all my potential friends, making school even more unpleasant than it has to be and on top of that you invade my privacy and try to justify it with absolute bullshit! You're the one who doesn't even act like my boyfriend!"

"I was the one who sought my dad out to help you. Doesn't that count for anything? You still wouldn't be here if it wasn't for me."

"Oh so because you got your dad to help me that gives you the leeway to invade my privacy and treat me like I don't even mean anything to you?"

Sesshomaru opened his mouth to speak but said nothing. This was the first time he had ever lost an argument. It wasn't a fun feeling and he had just royally messed up. He shouldn't have been in here trying to read her journal and trying to justify such actions had only made it worse, even if his intentions had been good ones. Sesshomaru then uttered words he never thought he'd hear himself say.

"I'm sorry." He watched as she wiped away some stray tears. When had she started crying? He suddenly felt even worse. "Kagome…I-"

"Please just get out." She stepped to the side of the door.

Sesshomaru desperately tried to think of something else to say….anything to defuse the situation but nothing came to mind. He had somehow failed this time. With no words forthcoming, he left the room. The door shut loudly behind him as he stood there in a daze. He glanced back at the door with a heavy heart. He couldn't just walk away with things like this.

Leaning against the door he lightly knocked. "Kagome…can we please talk about this." He waited patiently but got no reply. He tried the door knob but it was locked. Was he already losing her? Letting out a long sigh Sesshomaru went in search of his dad. Perhaps he could help him out of this mess.

Kikyou sat with Inuyasha outside as they stared up at the night sky. The two sat huddled together as he shyly held her hand. She was his first girlfriend and things still felt awkward sometimes.

"When I get home I'm going to talk to my Aunt about letting Kagome stay with us. She doesn't seem happy here…plus I don't really like the idea of you two living together," she admitted grudgingly.

Inuyasha gave his girlfriend a funny look. "Don't you trust me?"

"It's not that…it's just…I don't know, I just don't like it."

The hanyou shrugged. "Seems like she would prefer that anyhow. I could hear them fighting upstairs."

"About what?"

"I don't know, I couldn't really hear all of it but Kags sounded pretty pissed. Something about that moron invading her privacy."

"Kags? So now you have a nickname for Kagome?" Kikyou looked cross.

Inuyasha's ears went back in agitation. "You don't have anything to worry about. She's like a little sister. I don't get why you're getting so up-tight. It's not a big deal."

"Yeah whatever, I got to go. You still meeting me at my house tomorrow?"

"Yeah," Inuyasha watched as Kikyou walked away. Girls could be so weird sometimes. He wasn't sure if he would ever get them.
