Bella woke up in the arms of Angela, and she was happy. She did not feel the regret she had thought she would. She was perfectly content with this human girl who had blood warm like hers. She couldn't evade her thought though, she had acted rashly and now she had to think everything through. She knew everything about Alice, things no human should know and that was dangerous. For her and Angela it meant possible death. For Alice and Liz it meant death or service to the Volturi. Bella wanted immortality, it pained her to admit it to herself. Alice had taught her to be more confident and open but it was not Alice that Bella wanted. It was immortality. She wanted to live through the ages, making and experiencing history. As Angela stirred Bella felt her breasts against her back. They had done it all. Without worry about hurting one another, they had the joy of falling back breathless together. It was amazing.
After Bella kissed her all Angela asked was "you sure?"
And Bella was, she wanted to have something normal in her life and Angela presented that. She got up out of bed and checked for Charlie's cruiser which was gone already, so she went and took a shower to think about what they would do further today. Alice would know what took place last night so there was that to talk about. Bella also decided that she had to tell Alice about her thoughts. She would share them with Angela first. She started on her hair and the shower door moved open.
"Care if I join?"
"Come on in"
They washed in silence and it was a comfortable one. One that Alice would have filled with some facts about being a vampire or fashion. Angela started massaging Bella's shoulders. She noticed how tense she looked and felt what she felt on the first night. The night she wanted Bella more than Liz. She too had been thinking about everything that happened and Bella had been nothing but honest with her from day one. She didn't blame Liz for the deception but she saw a life with Bella before all this and it was something that she still did.
"Bells. We need to talk"
"I know Ang. Let's leave it till we both dressed"
Angela nodded in agreement and got done and exited the shower to get dressed. Bella stayed a while longer, she needed to decide.
"I want to go for a drive to clear my mind. I'll be back later please stay till I get back?"
Angela nodded again while she was combing her hair.
Bella got the trucks keys and set off with no real direction. She ended up on the res at a cliff. She turned off the engine and watched the waves from the edge of the drop
"Don't jump. Its not worth it, whatever it is."
She turned to see Jacob watching her. His long hair hanging loose.
"Hey Jacob. I won't be jumping don't worry."
They spoke about Billy and Charlie for a while and then to school. He saw she was distracted and he thought to ask.
"So why you out here?"
"Its a long story. But let me ask your opinion. If you could choose. Would you rather be with someone who you knew was right for you in every way but only for 60 years maximum or would you gamble on someone else at a chance at forever?"
He sat still for a while thinking and watching the waves.
"I'd go for the 60 years because if it's the right person it'll feel like you're together forever. But if it were the wrong person life might feel like an eternity and not in the good way. So it does depend on the amount of time together. It depends on the quality of the person i'd be spending the time with"
They sat in silence watching the waves while Bella thought about what Jacob had just said. She got of the bonnet because she had made her choice.
"Thanks Jake. But I need to go now."
After about an hour and one difficult conversation she was outside the door of the one she loved.
"Hey"
"Hey"
"I choose you, if you still want to be with me. Because you make me feel alive and you care about me and your just so right nothing else feels like a good fit"
"Bells, you are amazing. I feel all that for you too."
They kissed.
Alice sat on her porch looking out at the woods.
"So they've left us huh?"
"Yeah."
Alice replayed the conversation in her mind so that Liz could see it.
...An Hour Earlier...
"Hello Alice. Can we talk?"
"I know why you're here Bella."
"Alice I need to say it. Please listen"
Alice nodded
"Thank you Alice, thank you for being what I needed. You taught me to be more than what I was, taught me to be a better version of myself. Before I was someone who needed someone else to make a stand for me. But you made me someone who could make a stand for something she believed in. So thank you. I'm sorry, I'm sorry that I'm leaving you. They say some people come into you life for a reason, a season or a lifetime and you were there for me as a season and a reason. I needed you to teach me a lesson I wouldn't have gotten otherwise and everything I felt was not false because I do and did love you. But I need to move on because the future you see for us is not one I want. I want you to know I will carry your secret to my grave as it is my secret now too.
I cannot speak for Angela. But I will say that if she doesn't come over after I speak to her which I presume you'll see, it's because we will have each other."
She sat still as only a vampire could. She saw it coming. The one lie she had told had lead to this realisation on Bella's part.
"Good bye Bella. I will always love you"
...Back to Present...
"I see. And Angela has made her choice?"
"Yup"
"Then let's go. Together this time"
They got up and walked into the forest and didn't return to the house in Forks.
...Ten Years Later...
"Bella?"
"Hey Alice. How are you?"
"I'm good and how are you? What are you doing in London?"
"We came for a Literature Expo. What are you doing here?"
"I'm a fashion journalist for a small paper. I need to cover the expo. We?"
"Oh. Angela, the Kids and I"
"Kids?"
"Yup. 2 girls. There they are, you want to meet them?"
"Sure."
"Ang, over here."
Angela looked up and saw her wife looking as beautiful as that first day on the stairs
"Hey Alice."
"Girls meet Alice she is an old friend of your mommy."
"Alice meet our daughters. Elizabeth and Alice."
"Hey you two."
"Hey we share a name. The little one cried out"
"Our two little girls. More than we could have asked for. We must be going Bella has some books she needs to sign."
Alice hugged them good bye and they took off. Angela turned back.
"If you see Liz. Tell her hi, and that I haven't forgotten her and all Bella told you stands true for me and her too."
"I'll tell her tonight when I get home. Now go your girls are waiting"
The shared a smile and went their separate ways.
