Chapter Five: Confrontations
The next couple of days were the usual routine I was used to for the past five days. To be honest it was quite boring and uneventful. That is until Lupin came to talk to me.
I was sitting in the library writing my two foot long Transfiguration essay for McGonagall because I was stupid enough to put if off until the last day. Then I felt someone sit down next to me. I looked up to see the tired face of Remus Lupin.
I sighed. Lupin was the only one of James's friend that I could kind of handle talking to, "What is it you want, Lupin?"
He was quiet for a minute. I think he was debating to say what he had in mind, "You need to talk to your brother, Sophie."
"And why is that?" I said while narrowing my eyes at the boy. I did not want to speak to my brother and I wasn't planning to in the near future.
"James hasn't said or done anything productive at all since you spoke to him on the train. I don't care if you yell at him at all, Sophie, but I think if you just spoke to him he would snap out of this little mood he is in," this is what Lupin told me.
I look at Remus closely, "Rather temperamental, aren't we? About that time of the month for you, isn't it?"
His eyes got huge, "What are you talking-"
"Oh, come off it, Lupin. If I was going to tell anyone I would have in first year. To be honest, you and your friend are not that quiet. That and any smart person could figure it out. Take Evans and Snape for example," I calmly said to him.
"Aren't you scared of me?" was the werewolf's reply.
"No, Lupin. Anyone can clearly see that a werewolf doesn't get bitten by chose. Believe it or not I'm not like the average Slytherin. I don't believe in half the things they say. Anyway, you can't help that you are what you are. Anyone that does not see that is a bloody idiot," I muttered this while I stared off into the distance.
He observed me for a minute, "You sound like you're talking about yourself, Sophie."
I glared at him before going back to my essay, "If you want me to talk to my brother you should leave me alone, Lupin."
"Thank you, Sophie," with those words Remus left me alone to finish my essay.
As I watched him leave all I could think of was that is one persuasive bastard. Stupid werewolf and his bloody sweet talking.
This is why I found myself outside the entrance to the Gryffindor common room. I knocked on the portrait until someone opened it. Sadly, the person that opened the door was Frank Longbottom.
"Oh, it's you," he said before trying to close the entrance.
I grabbed it before he could, "I need to speak to my brother, Longbottom."
He unwillingly opened the portrait all the way and stepped aside to let me in, "It's about time, Potter. James has been in a right state and if the whispers are true it's you who put him there."
I entered the common room and looked around. It was a large circular room with many couches and chair around. The large fireplace kept the room warm and toasty. I was a little jealous because Slytherins had a cold and dark common room in the dungens.
"He is up in his dorm. Try not to scare the first years while your here, Potter." Longbottom said as he walked away.
"I'll try, Longbottom, but I think you're to late to warn me," I pointed to a group of little girls running up the stair to their dormitory.
I made my way up to my brother's room, ignoring the glaring Gryffindors as I went. Once in front of the room I stopped and knocked. Peter Pettigrew answered the door. He made a loud squeaking noise as I pushed passed him.
"Sophie?" James questioned as I entered the room. "What are you doing here?"
I looked over to everyone else in the room, "Leave so I can talk to the idiot."
They all complied and walked down to the common room.
"Why are you doing here?" James repeated, his voice rising a little.
I rolled me eyes at how rude my brother is, "I'm here to talk some sense into you because your bloody annoying friends think you have gone mad."
AN- Well, I wanted to incorporate their little fight, but I ran out of time. The next chapter should be up in a day or too. And thanks to BlueRose22 for reviewing. Hope you enjoyed the chapter. -Laura
