AN- Sorry if it has been awhile since I've updated. I have been a little busy lately. Truthfully, I have a report to write for English and tons of Spanish homework. Luckily for you I am foolish enough to be doing this instead of that. And to be honest, I rather enjoyed writing this chapter. I've always loved quidditch. Anyway, hope you enjoy. -Laura
The next day I headed down to the quidditch pitch with Regulus. I decided that I was going to try out for the position of chaser since it was either that or beater. This would make beating my brother even more wonderful. When I arrived there was many people lined up to try out. The returning member were in a small group away from us chatting with each other. Knowing Slytherins they were probably making a bet on who would make the team.
I had also observed that I was the only girl wanting to join the quidditch team too. It seemed to make sense because a girl has not made the Slytherin team since twenty years ago. Fantastic. After this thought the quidditch caption, Robert Higgs, started to talk to all of us.
"Okay everyone, listen up. Anyone who wants to be a chaser over there," he pointed to the sidelines before continuing, "Anyone who wants to be a beater is up in the air. You will be hitting bludgers back and forth. Last one standing will become our new Slytherin beater."
I obediently walked over to the side with the others and watched my housemates hit bludgers at each other. I grinned every time someone fell and got injured. It was hilarious to me.
"I see you're enjoying yourself, Potter," Tyler Adams, a fellow sixth year, said from behind me.
I turned to look at him and smirked, "Of course. Watching idiots kill themselves is just what I like to do in my free time."
He laughed, "Should of known that was what you were thinking. So, you're trying out for chaser then?"
"What do you think, Adams? If I wasn't what other reason would I be here for?" I muttered in a monotone voice while rolling my eyes.
"I don't know. To watch idiots kill themselves? Don't you do that in your free time?" he replied.
This made me chuckle, "Of course that would be your answer."
As I said this the last beater fell from the sky and was escorted to the hospital wing. Higgs came over with the new beater, Michel Peterson. He was a fourth year.
"Okay everyone, first two to make the most goals join me and become chasers. Now up in the air!" the quidditch caption shouted to us.
I kicked off the ground and watched a clumsy third year grab the quaffle. He wouldn't have it for long. One of the reasons was a huge seventh year named Harper came right at him. He avoided getting clobbered, but dropped the ball. I quickly grabbed it and was halfway down the quidditch pitch before anyone noticed. Once I was near the hoops I threw it right threw the middle one and passed Bole, the keeper, and straight in. This was only the first goal I made.
Throughout the whole game the other Slytherins played dirty, but that didn't stop me from making my way to the quaffle and scoring more points.
By the end of the game I had scored seventeen points which was more than any one else had made. Behind me with fourteen points was Adams. I landed with my signature smirk on my face, knowing I had made the team.
"Congratulations to Sophie Potter and Michael Adams for making the open chaser positions. Reserved spot goes to Calvin Vanity. Next practice is in a week, so I expect you all to be there. No excuses," the quidditch obsessed caption said before walking to the changing rooms. Apparently quidditch tryout wore you out.
With that I quietly made my way up to the castle and planned on heading to bed because I hadn't realized until now how tired I actually was. I still had to do three essays by tomorrow too. Great.
Once I was in the dungeons I heard small footsteps behind me. I grabbed my wand and spun around to see Regulus standing there.
"No need to be frightened, Potter. It's just me," He said with a small grin and his hand held up in a defensive gesture.
I slowly lowered my wand, "You can't seem to trust anyone these days, Black. It's just the way things are now."
He nodded slowly, "You're right. Well, anyway, congratulations on joining the quidditch team. Knew you could do it."
"Thanks," I said as I gave him a small smile before entering the common room and sat down in a comfy chair. We sat in silence for a while before I headed up to my dorm to finish my homework before going to sleep. For some strange reason I felt the tomorrow something bad was going to happen, but just what could it be?
