AN- Spring break has just started, so hopefully I'll update more than once this week. In this chapter we finally get to the quidditch game. Oh, and the italicized words are a recap the last chapter.
I would like to thank sara253xxx and Blue Luver5000 for reviewing. It's good to know you enjoy reading my story. You have no idea how much I love your feedback. Now, onto the story.
Chapter Eleven: The Competitive Game of Quidditch
"When I blow my whistle the game will begin and from there on you know the rules," the gray haired woman continued. Hooch pulled the whistle up to her lips and than blew on it. The next thing you see the was the quaffle being launched into the air as my brother and I both lunged for it at the same very second.
The only thing I could think of at the time was that this was going to be a very dirty game because James and I are the most competitive people in the school. I just hoped one of us would win before we would kill each other.
I was sad to see that my brother was the one that grabbed the quaffle, but I knew he wouldn't have it for long. It was me he was playing against after all.
I saw Adams come up next to him and knock into him. This made James drop the ball, so I swooped down and caught it. Before anyone noticed I was almost halfway down the field.
You see, the advantage I have over everyone else in quidditch was that when I flew I was fast. Faster the James was and that was saying something. Being well coordinated also helped me in aiming the quaffle at the goals. Having good balance helped me in turns, dodging bludgers, and in rather dangerous moves that I often did.
Before I had the chance to shoot at the goals I heard the swoosh of a bludger coming at me from behind. To avoid it I turned upside down in the air. I looked back to see the smirking face of Sirius Black. He will regret that later.
I threw the ball toward the left goal post. Frank Longbottom, the Gryffindor keeper, missed it by a mere centimeter. I smiled to myself as I heard the cheers and boos from the stands.
"Sophie, what are you doing out here playing quidditch? I suggest you get out of here before you get hurt," my brother said in a strained voice from my right.
I scowled at him, "If you don't want me getting hurt, tell you bastard friend Black not to shoot bludgers at the back of my head."
As my brother opened his mouth to make a idiotic remark I began to speak again.
"You just don't want to loose. You've always say you don't want me hurt, but you just want to win. I never tryed out for the quidditch in the past because I knew how much it meant to you. I still had some respect for you, but you pushed me too far this year, James. Now I just really don't give a damn. It is time to deflate your bloody gimongous ego. Now quit complaining that I'm here and play the game," was the rant I gave him before ramming into the Gryffindor that was holding the quaffle. He dropped it and I picked it up out of the air and threw it to Adams. Longbottom blocked this one though and Garret Brown recovered for Gryffindor.
I groaned when Gryffindor scored, but I didn't let it get me down. We were going to win this game. No matter what it takes.
Higgs had the quaffle, but Black hit a bludger at him and he dropped it. Good thing Adams was there to take possesion of it. He tossed the ball to me and I scored ten more points.
The game went on like this for a while. Chasers ramming into each other and almost knocking the other person off their broom to try and score a goal. Beater clobbering everyone in sight with bludgers. Seekers chasing after the snitch, but quickly loosing sight of it after a bludger almost takes their heads off. But out of all those things happening, James and I were beating the hell out of each other. Neither of us wanted to lose the quaffle and did we want to let the other get a small chance of scoring anything. Fouls were being called every five minutes
After about a half an hour Slytherin was up by thirty points. The score was fourty Gryffindor, seventy Slytherin.
I had the quaffle and was heading toward the posts with my brother trailing behind me. I feinted to the left goal, but threw to the right and watched the ball sail right through the center of the goal.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Regulus dive for the snitch. The Gryffindor seeker didn't even have a chance as he caught the golden ball in his hand.
I smirked at my brother as I turned around to complement Reg on catching the snitch. James was blazing with anger and he knew I was taunting him. To my satisfaction it only msde him more furious.
As I reached the rest of the Slytherin team they patted me on the back. They all knew that without me they wouldn't have won at all if I wasn't on the team.
"Good job, Potter," Higgs said with a small smile.
I grinned back, "Thanks, Higgs."
We all went to land on the pitch when all the sudden the Slytherins stopped and looked at me in horror.
"Sophie, look out!" Adams yelled to me.
"What?" I said in confusion.
Regulus pointed behind my, to shocked to move like the rest of the team, "Bludger!"
I turned around, but I looked past the bludger that was heading straight for me and instead saw my brother with a Sirius's bludger in his hand and a smirk on his and his bastard best friend's faces.
