AN- I would like to apologize for not updating. My power went out yesterday and when I went to upload the chapter it was gone. I had to rewrite the whole thing.
As always, my thanks goes out to my lovely reviewers, Blue Luver5000, sara253xxx, and Blackpetunia9444. Hope you put your vote in on the poll I put up. So far Regulus and Remus are tied (interesting...). Remeber to review. Now onto the story. -Laura
Chapter Sixteen: He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Strikes Again
It seemed that my thoughts were correct. Classes were like hell today. McGonagall gave my a detention today for not paying attention, but it wasn't like I could help that. The bitch's class is too unappealing to me. The only reason I am taking this stupid class is because I need it for my N.E.W.T.
After Transfiguration I had Ancient Runes. A class that I do rather well in. That is a good thing because I wanted to be a Curse Breaker in the future and the subject is rather important for it. Thankfully Professor Babbling knew that I wasn't in a good mood and knew that I was going to be really grumpy today. She didn't bother to call on me or yell at me for not doing my homework.
Double Arithmancy was the class I didn't even bother to attend. My brain hurt just thinking about the numbers that Professor Vector, the new teacher for said class, would force me to look at. It was a smart move on my part too because when I seen the Carrow twins exit the class they seemed real confused and frustrated.
After those classes I headed off to lunch with the rest of the Slytherins. Nothing eventful was happening at all today. Personally, I thought this was a good thing for me. Drama has been happening way too much in my life lately. Hopefully the rest of the year will not be so eventful, but deep down I knew that this wasn't going to happen at all.
I sat down next to Narcissa when I arrived at the table. She smiled and asked how my day went. Like always, I lied and said how wonderful it went. No one could know about my lessons with Snape.
"I see you skipped Arithmancy, Potter. Wish I did too. Vector gave me a detention because I was talking. It's not my fault that I can't understand a word that comes out of her bloody mouth. Seems like you're the only one in that class that actually learns anything other that that mudblood and Gryffindor scum Evans," one of the Carrow twins, Alecto, whined as she began to stuff her face with food like usual.
I just replied with a simple, "If you actually paid any attention like me then you would learn something."
Narcissa nodded, "Sophie is correct, Alecto. If you just applied yourself-"
"Oh shut up Black. We already know what we're going to do when we get out of this hell hole," Amycus, Alecto's brother, interrupted with an intolerable smirk.
Before the girl next to me could reply we heard a loud wailing sound came from the Gryffindor table. A sixth year girl, Mary MacDonald, ran out of the hall in tears. A few of her friends chased her out, trying to get her to stop running away from them to calm her down.
I opened the Prophet to see on the front page the article that explained why MacDonald ran out in tears.
HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED STRIKES AGAIN
In a small town near London in the middle of night a old muggleborn man spots the Dark Mark resting above a large house. The wizard, Stan Estin, immediately contacted the Ministry of Magic. When authorities arrived they found Marcus and Rebecca MacDonald along with their two year-old son Robert dead. A Mediwizard had sadly informed us that the family was tortured and then murdered by You-Know-Who's followers.
This is the third time this month that the dark wizard has struck. First the Strith family and then Wilkinsons' along with a witch named Martha Johnson. Many muggles have also been murdered and deaths show signs of the forbidden killing curse. All murders have been found with His sign above the houses. The sign is a green snake coming out of a skull. Aurors have requested that they be contacted immediately when anyone sees this mark anywhere.
The Ministry has strongly warned all wizards to be on guard and to avoid traveling alone whenever possible. There has been no confirmed pattern of the killings, but be asured that the Minister of Magic, Millicent Bagnold, is putting everyone she has out to stop this crazed man...
I quit reading the article after this much. It is not really surprising that this had happened. The Dark Lord had been out killing muggles and blood-traitors like crazy. He wants to make out blood pure apparently. To me that is total bull shit though. If wizards didn't marry muggle we would have died out, but I would never admit that to anyone if I wanted to join the Dark Lord to help Regulus.
I then put the paper down and walked to my next class. I hope Defense will be distracting today.
Sorry it's late again. Been a bit busy. Remember to review.
