AN- Sorry for the late update. Exams are coming up soon and teachers have been piling on the homework. I have also been working out the rest of the plot. I think that it is coming around rather nicely. Now about the poll. Remus is winning. I'm going to be taking it down soon, so please put your vote in. Just to throw in at random, right now I am listening to Hedwig's Flight on my iPod. Hope you all review. -Laura

Chapter Seventeen: Interruptions

"Good job today team. I know that we'll win the match against Ravenclaw for sure next week for sure. Next practice is Monday. Don't be late or expect the whole team to be running laps around the field. Now get out of here," the Slytherin captain, Higgs, said to end the long practice. It seemed like it especially dragged on because it was Friday.

I grabbed my broom and then headed to the changing rooms. The perks of being the only girl on the team meant that I got it to myself. No annoying distractions or waiting for people to finish. I quickly changed out of my quidditch gear and into my normal clothes, then headed out to see Regulus waiting for me.

"You take forever you know?" he muttered to me with a smirk clearly on his face.

I rolled my eyes, "It's not like I asked you t wait for me, so technically it is your own fault."

"Once again your logic beats mine. Anyway, did you see that your brother finally scored a date with Lily Evans? He was rather loud at breakfast today," the youngest Black mumbled quietly, as if mentioning my brother would set me off.

"Poor girl. I pity anyone who is in the presence of the git. Even if it is some Gryffindor mudblood, " I replied to the boy. "Personally, I thought the girl was smart enough to evade his clutches. Guess I was wrong."

He nodded, but I could tell he was thinking of something else, "Is the next Hogsmeade weekend this week or next week?"

"Next week. Why do you ask?" I answered.

"No one. Even if I did ask someone they would say no. Are you going with anyone?" he muttered quietly and then avoided eye contact with me. Was he nervous? No, he couldn't be. Why would he get nervous around me of all people?

I looked at my friend with a small smile, "That's not true, Reg. Any girl you would ask would be honored to go with you. And did you really just ask if I was going with someone? Never. I have way more important things to worry about than boys. With teachers giving us homework like out N.E.W.T.'s are tomorrow instead of next year, quidditch, my stupid brother, and of course lessons with Sna-" Merlin, did I just almost tell him of my Occlumency lessons? Crap.

Regulus looked confused and maybe a bit dejected, "Lessons with who? About what?"

I shook my head, "Nothing to worry about it. It's nothing."

He looked suspicious, "What are you going on about, Sophie?"

"Nothing," I quickly said to him, "I have to go to the library to look something up. See you at the Common Room?"

"Okay." Reg said with that look on his face still. "See you."

I took of down the hall as fast as I could walk. How could I be so stupid? I almost told him that I was going to become a Death Eater. He would never let me if he found out. That's why I am doing it secretly, so he can't stop me. I have to tell him when the time is right. That time was not right now. Right now I had another Occlumency lesson with Snape.

"Legilmens!" Snape's spell hit me head on.

I tried to block it out right away, but wasn't successful. I saw a few memories flash. Me getting my wand. It was rosewood with a phoenix feather core and 12 1/2 inches long... My and my mum fight last summer while my father was trying to stop us. It was over my not being aloud to go to any of my friends' houses... After this I finally pushed him out.

Snape looked at my with his pitch black eyes, "You almost mastered blocking me out completely, but not yet. A few more lessons and we'll be done. Once a wizard learns how to produce a shield, then they master Occlumency very quickly."

"Okay. I suppose that is good. One more time?" I said.

He nodded, but right when he cast the spell the classroom door opened and I saw it was James and his friends. It caused my to not put up my shield correctly because I was a little shocked. Why must they always ruin everything I do?

First I saw me and James fighting on the train... Me and Regulus walking back from practice today... Crying on the train as a first year because my brother left me all alone. Then Regulus walking in and sitting with me... Sitting at the Black Lake and thinking under the stars... I finally managed to push him out of my head.

When I looked up I saw that I was leaning heavily on a desk and the four Gryffindors were staring at up in shock. Snape was glaring at them.

"What is going on here?" James said in a not so calm voice.
