AN- Here is another wonderful chapter. Remeber to review. I will be taking down the poll in a few days, so remember to put in your vote. Right now Lupin is winning. A fact that I think is interesting, but I think I can pull it off. -Laura
Chapter Nineteen: Chat with Dad
"Sophie," he called and I turned around, "I'm sorry."
I was shocked. Did he just apologize to me? I didn't reply and just turned around and continued walking.
Did he mean it? That he was sorry. If he did maybe I was wrong about my brother. Maybe he wasn't as bad as I made him out to be.
I sighed as I walked into the Common Room. Tomorrow was when everyone leaves for Christmas Break. I was one of those people. A fact that I hated to think about. Mum and Dad are hosting this stupid New Year's Eve ball. One in which James and I just must attend. I even have to wear a dress.
"Hey, Potter," I heard the voice of Tyler Adams, fellow Slytherin chaser, said from behind. He sat down next to me in front of the small green fire that added to already green tint from the Black Lake that our Common Room is conveniently under.
I gave him a small smile as I replied with, "Hey, Adams, What brings you here into my wonderful presence?"
He gave me a smirk, "Just for a chat. There is not much intelligent conversation with the rest of the sixth years. I mean, have you tried talking to them?"
I laughed, "Yep. They are rather daft, aren't they?" If you think about it Regulus and Lestrange is probably the brightest of them all. Look at Carrow, Macnair, and Roiser. They are a bunch of idiots. "The only intelligent girl in my dorm is Narcissa. Delatin and Fripton are air-headed gossips and Carrow is a tramp."
"Yeah, atleast we didn't have it as bad as the group two years ahead of us. They had Crabbe and Goyle along with Malfoy. Glade that they're gone really. Even if Malfoy was half decent, his cronies were downright trolls. That Chelsea Rogers didn't make a point to hide the fact that she slept with everyone within a year or two of her," Adams said conversationally.
I nodded, "I know. She was the definition of a slut. Oh, and by the way, nice job in the game aganst Ravenclaw. Bet we'll make it to the finals and actually win this time."
"You too Potter. If you were never on the team, I think that we would be worse than Hufflepuff. We'd be the joke of qudditch," he replied to me loudly. Then again he was never that quiet. "What are you doing over break?"
My good mood was almost ruined by that one question, "My mum is hosting a ball and I am forced to attend. I even have to dress up and all that. It'll be terrible. What about you?"
"Not much. A quiet Christmas with Mum. Might actually go to that ball of yours. My mother used to be good friends with yours if you can believe it. Was a Ravenclaw in the same year as your mum and she told me that they got along alright. Though they haven't spoken much since Dad and her got married. He was a Slytherin and didn't want her be in the company of blood-traitors. Since he died last year I think that they have been back in touch. Guess I will see you there then?" he rambled on to me. Trying to cheer me up I guess. It worked.
"Someone there that I can actually talk to without wanting to kill myself five times over. Thank Merlin for that," I muttered in complete relief.
The train ride home was a little boring. Not much really occured at all. Except the fact that I found Sirius Black in the bathroom with an unknown Hufflepuff half dressed and not even bothering to stop when I found them. My eyes are scarred for life.
When we reached the train station Mum and Dad were waiting for us. Of course my mother ran to great James and Sirius, leaving me here to watch. It is like she doesn't care that they almost killed me earlier this year.
I felt a large hand come down on my shoulder. I looked to the side to see my father there.
"Sophie, it's good to see you. How have you been? Heard that you killed Ravenclaw a week or two ago. You've been doing okay since the accident with your brother, right?" Dad said to me in a caring voice.
To be honest I was shocked. My father has never really held any conversation with me because we never had anything to really talk to each other about. I guess since James knocked me off my broom after the game when my back was turned really changed his opinion on his perfect son. To him he wasn't so perfect anymore and he must of really thought about what I yelled at him and Mum at Hogwarts. I also know that he has always cared about, just didn't know how to word it. A think we both shared, not being able to show emotion well.
I looked over to him, "Been doing fine, Dad. No more injures or anything. And Slytherin did beat Ravenclaw by a landslide which almost means that we have a spot in the finals."
He gave me a small smile, "Congratulations. Now we better go and get your mother and brother along with Sirius and get on home."
And we do exactly like he suggested. Grab them and head home. At least I know that this Christmas won't be totally terrible. Little did I know that I was completely wrong and that this was going to be the worst break I would ever have.
AN- Happy early Memorial Day. I won't be updating for a bit. Exams are next week and I have to play at graduation. I also have to be in two parades on Monday. Review. It's only a click away... With some typing, but I will be extremely grateful.
