Chapter Twenty-Three: The Battle of Diagon Ally
Once I exited the Leaky Cauldron I see that the whole entire ally is being attacked by Death Eaters. Then I ducked as a piece or wood almost took my head off. The cause of this was half of the building I just escaped collapsed from a huge man that shot a poorly aimed curse at my head.
I cursed under my breath as I quickly dueled the masked man before running off in another direction. Maybe I could find a hiding place of find another way out of here until the Death Eaters are under control, but as I fought another one I soon realized that I couldn't do that. Their was nowhere to hide.
After about a half hour of fighting my way through the street, I heard someone calling my name from behind me. I gaped as I saw who it was.
It was bloody Sirius Black.
"What are you doing here?" I screamed so he could hear me in the chaos.
"Looking for you of course. As is James and your father. Not happy to see me Potter?" Black muttered after taking down another follower of Voldemort.
I looked around to see that we were completely surrounded, "For once in my life I actually am."
He let out a chuckle, "I'll have to document this when we get back to the house. Now, any idea how we can get out of here?"
"Of course," I said, leaving out that I had no intentions what so ever to return the that hell hole.
"And what may that be?"
I gave him a smirk before I said, "Curse them till they can't move."
"That might actually work. Back to back?" he suggested.
I may not like Black, but we both knew how to duel. We stood with our backs to each other so no one could hit us from behind while walking in a slow circle.
"You know this changes nothing between us, right? We both go back to hating one another and avoiding each other like the plague," I stated as I threw a cutting curse a Death Eater and he fell to the ground clutching his chest I turned to run farther down the street.
Black chose to follow me and then explained, "It's better if we stick together."
I didn't protest because it was probably right.
"Why aren't the Aurors coming? They should have been here by now. This has been going on far to long," I exclaimed as I was hit in the cheek with a spell that left a huge gash in it. I could feel the warm, sticky blood just dripping down my face like a waterfall.
My companion looked a bit worried, "I don't know. Mad-Eye Moody said that the Aurors were on there way here. They also alerted the Order of Phoenix, but they aren't here either."
"How did you and James get here? And my father?" I asked him quickly.
"Apparated of course. Why do you ask?" he responded.
I clutched Sirius' arm for balance as I tripped over a dead body's hand and tried not to think of what I just did as I said, "You were almost the first people here to help. They must of cut off the apparation ability by putting up wards!"
We tested this by Black attempting to apparate. It didn't work, so I was right.
"Sophie! Sirius!" a voice called from behind and I looked to see my father and brother.
My father sighed with relief as he hugged me, "James, take your sister home."
"Dad, they blocked the ability to apparate! That's why not many Aurors are here... And I wouldn't go back to that house even if it depended on life and death."
Realization dawned on my father's face as he absorbed what I said.
"You kids have to stay together. I have to go and tell Moody! He'll know what to do. I know he's here because I ran into him earlier. Remember, stay together!" my dad demanded while running off in the direction he came in.
I continued to battle for the safety of my life while James and his friend followed behind me.
"You know, I surprised you haven't yelled at me this whole time. What's gotten into you?" James asked from my right.
I sighed while taking out two masked men by blowing up the ground they stood on, "Do you really need me to explain? I push aside all of my feelings in a life or death situation. I don't care about what is between us, but just as long as we get out of here alive."
"That's a good thing I guess. Better that letting me get killed or something..." James trailed off with a bit of relief in his tone.
"Yeah, now we have-" I began, but didn't get to finish.
The reason was a huge explosion that was so close and hard that we all fell to the shaking ground. What could have happened to make that noise? But right now I wasn't concentrating on that. I was more worried about the piece of metal buried deep inside my shoulder.
Hope you liked it. I'm not real good with the battle scenes, but I think that they were okay. Remember to leave a review on your way out.
