AN- Thanks for the reviews once again. I think that there might be a better chance of me updating more often with Thanksgiving Break coming up soon and marching band ending this week. Sorry if my updates have been a bit spaced out. With AP classes and high school taking over my life, I barely have that much free time. So I'll attempt to update like made next week. Hope you like the chapter. -Laura

P.S. Winter Guard starts in the next week or two. Hopefully that won't be as time consuming as marching band was.

Chapter Thirty-Five: Next to Me

James Potter was walking back to his dormitory after speaking with his sister. There was no one in the halls since class was going on. He knew that if any of the professors caught his he would most likely be in trouble, but the boy didn't care.

What will happen when Remus sees Sophie. His sister looked worse than he thought she would. Her skin was a sickly pale color, Sophie's expression looked like she was always in pain, but worst of all, there terrible scratches all over her body and the one long cut across her cheek.

He remembered carrying her up to the medi-witch. Blood was just oozing out of her body and when he set her down on the bed he was just coated with the red liquid. James was hoping that Remus hadn't bitten her, which of course he didn't, but he had no idea since there was so many cuts on his sister's body.

On Sophie's left arm, and the opposite shoulder, and over her stomach was where the cuts rested. He just wished that he wouldn't be there when she saw then for the first time. That would be a terrible sight to see.

By now James could see that portrait of the Fat Lady up ahead. She was talking with one of her friends, Violet.

"Grindylow," muttered the boy as the portrait looked at him in disapproval for being out of class as she opened up and granted him access to the common room.

He entered his dorm only to be greeted by silence. Peter was sleeping on the bed to the far right, Sirius was glaring ahead at nothing, and Remus had his head in his hands with a disappointed expression on his face.

After a long pause of silence, James mumbled the first words spoken in the room since he left, "Remus, it's not-"

"Don't even say it, James. I almost killed your bloody sister. It is my fault. How is she? Sophie is furious at me, isn't she? I can't believe that I almost murdered her, James. I'm so sorry..." Lupin cut off quickly.

"Moony, Sophie is absolutely fine. She isn't even mad at you. My sister knows that it is not your fault. Now quit drowning yourself in guilt, okay?" Prongs said to one of his best mates.

Remus looked up at his friend, "She isn't even mad at me? How come? I almost killed her!"

"Oh come on. Sophie isn't as much of a bitch as she makes herself out to believe. Just suck it up and deal with what you did Remus!" Sirius shouted as he stood up to leave.

James looked over at his best friend as he yelled this. What the hell was he doing? He almost had Remus back to an okay state for him to be in.

As for Lupin, he looked even worse than he did before.

"Dammit Sirius, what was that for?" shouted Prongs.

Padfoot turned to look at him with a look of sorrow on his face, "I'm sorry. It's just that everything has been getting to me. All the deaths that have been happening, Voldemort gaining power in all of Europe, and your bloody sister and he fucking issues. I mean, how many things can happen to a person in one month?"

Remus stood up and patted Sirius and James on the shoulder, "Both of you are right. I have been acting a little to the extreme lately. I guess that tomorrow I'll just go and apologize and try not to dwell to much on the thought of it."

"Are you sure that you won't tell anyone? I mean you cannot tell anyone." I said very seriously to Regulus.

My friend nodded, "I promise Sophie. Nothing from this conversation will ever pass my lips again, okay?"

I looked at him closely and decided that I could trust him with this information. "You know how we had quidditch practice late last night?"

He nodded slowly with a thoughtful look on his face.

"Well, after I finished changing, I was attacked by... something." I muttered to him quietly.

Regulus looked at me closely, "What do you mean by attacked, Sophie?"

I sighed and just spit the rest of it out. "I was attacked by a werewolf."

Silence.

"You were what?" Reg whispered in a deadly quiet voice. "Were you bitten?"

"No! Just mauled to shreds. I'm fine. It's just that it wasn't looking that great for me when I was staring into the eyes of a werewolf. I never thought that I would be in that situation. You know?" I said quietly.

He stared at me for a moment before answering me, "Not really. I have never really had any near death experiences like some people that I know."

A smile found it's way on my face. If Reg was joking about it then he would live through this. Sometimes he worries about me more than I do. One of the reasons that I keep him around for.

"You're the best, Reg." I chuckled.

He just grinned at me, "I know."

We sat in a comfortable silence for a few moments before Regulus spoke again, but this time in a more serious voice.

"Are you really okay, Sophie?"

I looked over to his stormy-grey eyes before answering, "I have absolutely no idea, but there is one thing that I am sure of."

"And what is that?" he asked in a voice barely above a whisper.

"That I will be with you right here next to me."

AN- Sorry for how short the last few chapters have been. Well, shorter than usual anyway. Leave a review as you exit the page please.
