Chapter Thirty-Nine: Two Blacks and a Potter

After a long and boring two weeks, Pomfrey finally let me leave the hospital wing, which meant that I was finally able to escape the terrible white room. Thank Merlin.

"I hope that you learned your lesson, Miss Potter. Taking those potions was vital to your recovery. Now I am tempted to keep you here for another day or two, but Dumbledore thinks more than two weeks in too long. Blasphemy in my opinion..." the matron rambled on to me as she made the bed that I just finished occupying.

I grabbed my bag full of all my items and placed it on my shoulder, "Well, it's been a lovely few weeks, Pomfrey, but I really must take off. Hopefully I won't see you in a while, though I doubt that'll happen with my luck."

"Good-bye, Potter. Try not to get yourself killed in the next hour, will you?" called the nurse as I opened the door to leave.

I looked back over my shoulder as I replied, "I'll keep my fingers crossed, Pomfrey."

"Sophie Potter, is that you?"

I looked up from the book I was reading to see a familiar face.

"Adams, is that you?" I asked with a slight smile on my face.

He smirked as he took a seat next to me in the dark, dreary common room, "The one and only. You're alive then? Haven't seen you in forever."

I grimaced at the memory of my near-death experience, but with a ghost of a smile on my face I replied, "Of course. Death'll never catch up to me. I've got too much of a lead."

Tyler laughed, "I should of known from all of the trips you took to the hospital wing lately. Classes will be a nightmare to catch up to I bet."

"Actually, I'm ahead. With all of the extra time I had, I finished a bunch of work," I then closed my book and turned in my chair to face him. "I heard Higgs was running you guys raw in practice. With me having a small chance of not being able to play, he is worried about the crappy replacement chaser, Vanity."

"Yeah, I hope Pomfrey gives you the okay so Higgs will calm himself down. He's been freaking out without you there, Potter. Maybe you could come to the next practice and give Calvin some tips. Although, I bet you'll play next week, but just to be sure..." Adams trailed off.

Rolling my eyes, I chuckled, "Sure thing. Now I have places to be, Tyler. I'll see you tomorrow, I reckon."

"You better," Adams responded before grinning at me, "And tell Black I said hi, will you?"

I sighed as I stood up, "You always assume that it's him I'm going to see. Why is that?"

"Sometimes you are just so oblivious to the things that are so obvious around you," he said while shaking his head, "And tell me I'm wrong Sophie."

Pursing my lips at what he said, I mumbled a reply, "I guess you're right every once in a while. See you Adams."

"You bet, Potter" he said to me as I exited the common room.

To be honest, I had no idea where Regulus was. I haven't seen him in forever. Where would a sneaky Slytherin be at a time like this? My question was answered when I heard to familiar voices arguing around the corner. I peeked my head out to see Reg and Sirius whispering venomously back and forth.

"It's not any of your business, Sirius," I heard Regulus tell his brother.

"Of course it is, Regulus, you're my brother! Now why are you joining that bastard?" Sirius shouted a bit too loudly.

Reg looked like he got angrier than he was before, "No you are not. You quit being my brother when you ran away from home and left me with dear, old Mum by my bloody self. Why do think I'm in this mess. When you left, all of Mother's ideals landed on me. You have it luck, she only wants to kill you. She wants to force me into taking this and I do not want to at all. So just leave me alone, Sirius."

The oldest Black brother looked a bit upset with himself. I could tell that he was sorry for leaving his brother all alone, "Reg, I didn't know that bitch would do that to you. I just was so focused on getting the hell out of there that I didn't think about it. I'm sor-"

Regulus cut his brother off, "Of course you didn't think about me. You never have and never will, you self-centered twit. Don't you dare even apologize to me either."

I took this as the right time to interrupt. Walking out from behind the wall and going over slowly to Regulus. Sirius' gaze shifted over to me, but Regulus didn't see me yet.

"Fine, Reg, but if you ever need me, you'll know where to find me," Sirius stiffly said to his younger brother and then walked away toward me. "I need to talk to you," he then muttered in my ear before turning the corner, out of my vision.

When Regulus turned around, he looked at me with sad eyes, "How much did you hear?"

"Pretty much everything. What to go up to the Room of Requirement to sort things out?" I asked in a soft voice.

My close friend nodded, "Yes, I think that would help."

"And you're positive that he did this only to spite you? What if he actually cares, Regulus? When he left, it looked to me as if he was actually sorry for leaving you with that women that you call your mother," I muttered quietly while leaning my head on Regulus' shoulder. Sitting in front of the blazing fire felt nice and cozy.

He yawned tiredly, "Can you just forget about that for now and enjoy the moment right here. Besides, I want to take a nap before going back to the common room and writing all of those stupid essays that are due tomorrow."

"Alright. Whatever you want, Reg, but we are talking about this later," I said to the sleepy boy before I yawned myself.

He chuckled softly. I was almost positive that he was ready to passout any second, "Sure, now let's just... sleep."

I laughed when I realized that he had just fallen asleep. It seemed a lot had gone on with him in the past days when I couldn't see him that often. I guess tomorrow I'll have to talk to Sirius about it right after lessons. I wondered briefly what he had to say to me before my musing was interrupted by Regulus pulling me into him and holding my in his sleep.

Sighing in content, I got comfortable because Reg's grip is like steal and I would never be able to break out of it. Although, deep down, a part of me felt complete somehow and that unknown emotion filled me once again. I soon fell asleep in Regulus' arms and all I could feel was happiness.

AN- So how was it? Good I hope, though this is probably one of my favorite chapters, and I enjoyed writing it. I also hope to see all of your wonderful reviews pop up in the next few days. I'm also looking forward to write the next chapter which I think will start out in Regulus' P.O.V. What do you all think about that?

Also, I have just gone into Christmas break and won't return to school next year. I hope that this time will be filled with plenty of updates and reviews.

And lastly, my thanks goes out to The Amendable Snow Freak, celeste.c. arguello , and Blue Luver5000 for reviewing the last chapter. I finally reached one hundred reviews, which is just so wonderful. You guys are awesome. -Laura

P.S. I have decided to leave my lovely author's note at the end of the chapter instead of both on top and bottom. I think that with this it'll look neater.
