Chapter Forty-Two: Death of Another

Dear Miss Sophie Potter,

We are terribly sorry to inform you that your grandmother, Dorea Potter, was regrettably found dead late last night. It appears that she was murdered with the killing curse and the Dark Mark placed over her house. The Ministry of Magic, along with the Auror Office from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, have a strong belief that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and his followers are behind this attack.

The will of Dorea Potter was also examined and it appears that she has left all of her money and possessions to you. A required meeting must be attended on the twenty-fifth of February at the Gringotts Bank with a member from the Auror Office.

Once again, the entire Ministry is very sorry for your loss and hope you accept our condolences. We also request that you inform the rest of your family, see as the deceased left you everything she owns, the Ministry thought it prudent to just inform you.

Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement,

Bartemius Crouch Sr.

DEATH EATERS STRIKE ONCE AGAIN

Last night, in the small town of Godric's Hollow, the Dark Mark was spotted over the unsuspecting house of Dorea Potter. She was then found dead when the Aurors arrived on the scene. A witness stated that he saw a masked figure disapparate away from the house about a second after the cursed mark was sent up into the pitch black sky.

Head Auror, Rufus Scrimgeour, gave a statement about the reoccurring events that have been taking place, "Well, I assure you that the Department of Magical Law Enforcement is working the Auror Office real hard. The Ministry is going to stop at nothing until this mad man is caught once and for all. For now we advice all wizards and witches to take extra precautions because you never know what you are going to run into."

Although, it does seem a bit odd that the Death Eater went after two Potters in less than three months. Charles Potter, Dorea's son, was murdered during the Battle of Diagon Ally, also known as the Massacre of Diagon Ally. Even if it is just a coincident, we deeply wish the Potter Family our deepest condolences.

Dear Mum,

Sorry that I have not been talking to you since Christmas. Things have been busy lately and I haven't bothered to write. I wouldn't if I didn't have to, but, as it turns out, there is a huge reason for me to do so.

I dearly hope that this reaches you before you read it somewhere else, like in the Daily Prophet, but it seems that Grandma Potter was killed last night. Murdered by Voldemort and his followers. The Ministry informed me and I have to tell both you and James of what happened. I'm sorry if you found out in another way.

Also, the Auror's Office has asked me to meet with them Gingotts Bank to discuss the will. The letter mentioned that my grandmother left everything to me, so there is no need for James or your own presence.

Once again, I'm really sorry you had to find out about this from a letter, but there was no other way to tell you.

Your daughter,

Sophie

P.S. I don't think that I am going to come home for the summer. I know we fought a lot this Christmas, but I have learned so much since then. Please don't be mad, Mum. I promise that I'll make sure to visit at least once this summer.

Potter,

I heard about the news about your grandmother and I would like to say that I am sorry for your loss. Especially since your father just died last Christmas. They were good people, and I used to work with your father. He was one of the best people I have ever known and a fantastic Auror.

Anyway, I know that you barely know me, but I would like to meet with you one day. Maybe at the next Hogsmeade trip? You kids still have those, right? I have some things that I have to tell you. Important things too. It's about your father and more.

Alastor Moody

Sophie,

Thank you for informing me about Dorea. I know that you were really close to your grandmother, and I can see why she left you everything. Especially after seeing the way the entire family treated you when she was here. Since you don't want me to meet with you at Gringotts, I'll follow your wishes. Please tell your brother gently though. Even if she and James didn't get along, another death in the family will kill him. I only can hope he didn't find out about this all through the Prophet.

And about you not coming home for the summer? I guess I can deal with that. I figured that you would always leave earlier than you were supposed to. Just make sure you visit at least once please. I don't want the last memory you have of us together to be screaming and fighting. You never know what will happen with a war going on.

I hope that you and James are staying safe. I don't know if I could handle another loss. It's hard enough with your father not being here and Dorea being killed.

Remember, I love you.

Your mother,

Evelynn

AN- I did this chapter a bit different. How do you like it? I think that it gives out a lot of information and sets up a bunch of things to happen later on in the future.

Thanks again to my reviewers lightbabe, celeste.c. arguello, Blue Luver5000, and The Amendable Snow Freak (Sorry about leaving the Snow out of your username. I have no idea how that happened.)

Hope you review.
