Chapter Forty-Five: Things to Rememer
"Miss Potter, as you know, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the Auror Office have asked to discuss your grandmother's will with you later today at the Gringotts Bank. You have also asked to go alone, without your brother, so I granted you access to use the Floo Network from my office and go to Diagon Ally for the remained of the day. I think that it would do you justice to clear your head and get out of Hogwarts for a couple of hours. Just remember though, be back here by eight o'clock at night and no later," Professor Albus Dumbledore explained to me with a look of sorrow on his face. He remembered my grandma from when she went to school and possibly from her suspected role in the Order of Phoenix.
I nodded, figuring that Dumbledore would let me roam the Wizarding World for a few hours before going to see the Ministry officials.
"Does this mean that I can leave now? I'd rather not sit around any longer, and I figured since I am missing my classes anyway..." I trailed off to the Headmaster while wringing my hands together. I was a bit nervous on the inside actually. Seeing these Ministry people was going to make me accept the fact that Grandma was dead. Murdered in the night by those sick bastards.
Dumbledore nodded, "I am sure that you would be able to go now. Remember what I said though, Miss Potter."
"Sure thing, Professor. Be back here at eight. Got it," I said while standing up and straightening my jacket. Then I headed over to the fireplace, "Floo powder is in here if I am correct?"
After the confirmation of the Hogwarts Headmaster, I grabbed a handful and was about to throw it on the dusty floor, but was soon stopped by the man behind me.
"Also, I would like to inform you that if you ever need a place to go, Hogwarts will always be there for you, Sophie. Just keep that in mind. You may never know when you end up having no place to go, but if that so happens, remember what I said." Dumbledore told me in a quiet voice.
I looked back at him over my shoulder and stared into his twinkling, bright blue eyes. It sounded as if he knew something that would happen later on in the future. As if he was warning me of something to come. Something bad. Briefly, I wondered what it was before turning around and tossing the powder on the ground and stepping into the green flames with a shout of the place that I needed to go to.
"Really, Yaxley, you want to go after the other Potter? I mean, we just killed the one old one and the man died by your hand a few months ago. The Ministry will suspect that something is wrong and even that old oaf as the Minister of Magic will start to go after us. The Potter family is very well known and loyal to them. They won't do us any justice if they catch us murdering off their best fighters," Gibbon rambled on to his higher ranked a bit nervously. He didn't want to die for this cause. Gibbon was only fresh out of school and didn't even want to join the ranks of Lord Voldemort. He was scared into it. Oh what a fool he was.
He just scoffed at the new recruit, "You really haven't go the slightest idea what you got yourself into, do you? The damn Ministry already knows that we are killing off their members. We are trying to get a point across that we will win this fight and all of those filthy, dirty Mudbloods are going to be killed off with those nasty, Muggle-loving bastards. The Dark Lord doesn't care about secrecy. No one does anymore. Now, we are going to go in and just do our job. If he said to kill the Potter whore, then that is what we are going to bloody do!"
Gibbon flinched as Yaxley's voice rose up into a screeching yell. "Sorry, sir, for my idiocy. I didn't know-"
"Of course you didn't, you babbling twit. That was blatantly obvious. Now be useful and go fetch Travers and Dolohov. We have a blood-traitor to kill," the man ordered darkly with a disgusting smile on his face.
"Yes, sir," muttered the other Death Eater meekly. What the hell did he get himself into?
"Sophie Potter, I didn't think that i'd be seeing you so soon. Run away again?" Tom, the barkeep, asked as he cleaned out another glass with a slightly dirty rag.
I placed myself in a chair at the counter before answering, "Nope. Got business in town and Dumbledore let me out to see to it. How've you been, Tom?"
He gave me his toothless smile as he gave me a rather large glass of Firewhiskey, "Just fine, Miss. Now this is on the house. No need to pay for it, dear."
I smirked at him after I took a large swig of it, "This was just what I need. Thanks, although I wasn't planning on paying anyway."
Tom just chuckled, "Sure you weren't. Now, what exactly is this business you've got in Diagon Ally? Nothing too bad I hope."
"Nothing along the lines that you're thinking of. Just a visit to Gringotts to patch up some legal matter. You've seen the Prophet, I presume?" I asked before taking another large drink of the burning liquid.
He nodded grimly, "Yes, I sure have. Sorry to see Dorea go. We went to Hogwarts together, though both of us were in different houses. Her in Gryffindor and me in Hufflepuff."
"Yeah, I'm just getting the will worked out. I'll be over there in an hour or two, then it'll be back to Hogwarts for me after a quick visit to my mother. I just want to patch things up with her before I go back. I don't know what'll happen since this war is brewing," I stated as I finished my drink.
Tom nodded as he reached to refill the alcoholic beverage that I was technically not supposed to drink for less than a month.
After my conversation with the barman, I headed out of the small place and into the crowded ally. I wasn't going to plan on seeing my mum until those weird words of wisdom from Dumbledore before I left. Oh well. I guess it had to be done sometime and no time is better than the present.
AN- Sorry for the late update, but this crazy thing called life keeps getting in my way. Anyway, how was it? Fantastic I hope.
