Chapter Forty-Six: The Will of Dorea Potter
Sighing, I shifted in my seat for about the seventh time in the past half hour. The utterly rude goblins had ordered me to sit in this dingy little conference room until the Ministry man arrived. They should have arrived forty minutes ago seeing as I was ten minutes late. This is one of the reasons why I am never going to go into any type of job at the Ministry. They cannot do anything right.
"Sorry I'm late," they idiotic adult bellowed loudly as he ran in through the door. "I had some things to take care of. My name is-"
"Not to be mean or anything, but I don't really care why you are almost an hour late. Now this meeting is over my dead grandmother's will, correct?" I interrupted as I stood up. The blood flow to my legs was getting cut off.
The Auror looked a bit shocked when I cut him off. Then his expression turned more serious. "As I was saying, my name is Paul Harrison. We are here to discuss the will of Dorea Potter. You are her granddaughter, Sophie, I presume?"
"Yes. Personally, I don't see why we even need to discuss this. The letter sent by Crouch clearly stated that she left me everything. Just hand me the key to the vault and the house, then I'll be off... Why are you giving me that look? Did something happen?" I asked abruptly.
He cleared his throat awkwardly while brushing his blonde hair out of his deep blue eyes, "Well, you see, there has been a mistake."
I looked at him with my eyes narrowed, "What do you mean about a mistake?"
"Dorea left you everything except one thing."
"And who exactly is this person that gets to receive this... thing?" I questioned cautiously.
Harrison pulled out an old, crumpled paper. Then he started to read it. "...To my granddaughter, Sophie Potter, I leave everything to in hope that if she ever is left without someone to go to, then she can easily get by off of this. Though I dearly wish that this will never need be, I always wanted to make sure that I was there to protect your entire life.
And lastly, to my grandson, James Potter, I leave my old, little family house to in hopes that he will one day treasure it like his grandfather and I had once before with a family of his own..."
I looked at the wall thoughtfully. So Grandma left James the house? I guess I knew getting everything was too good to be true. I guess when Mum eventually dies, he would inherit the whole Potter fortune. That was why I got all of the money, but why not the house? James would have been fine in the Potter Manor, so why did he get the house Grandma and Grandpa moved into after my father married?
Oh, well, I guess Grandma was always off her rocker. Though I'll rather miss the house, I probably would have never touched the thing. Too many memories would come to haunt me if I ever step foot in it. Maybe my brother would put good use into it one day.
"Shall I inform James of his inheritance for you? I assume that it would be much easier that calling him here another day and taking away from your time," I said to the older man.
Paul nodded, "Yes, that would be wonderful Miss Potter. Now, we must be off to have a nice chat with the goblins. After all, you don't want them refuse to give you access to your own vault."
"So I presume that this would be it, Mr. Harrison?" I asked as we exited Gringotts together. I had to admit, the Auror was beginning to grow on me a bit.
"Yes, though now I really must be off. I have a ton of paper work to do and it isn't going to write and file itself." Harrison said as we walked down the alley together. "You also must be getting back to Hogwarts?"
I shook my head, "Not for an hour or too. Dumbledore said that I could wander around for a bit. Something about needing fresh air..."
The older man chuckled, "Sure thing then. I hope to see you once again Miss Potter, although, I hope it will be under better circumstances."
"Please, call me Sophie," I requested as both of us stopped into the Leaky Cauldron.
Mr. Harrison smiled at me, "Then it would only be polite of my to offer to call me Paul. Now, have a good day."
With those words he flooed away and back to the Auror office.
"I see it went well?" Tom, the barkeeper asked from behind me. He must have overheard out conversation, see as the place wasn't that busy. "Drink?
I took a seat at the bar as I denied the alcohol. "Yes, better than I had expected. The Auror was actually quite nice."
Now it was off to see my mum. To finally set thing right with her in person.
"You know what Tom? Give me a firewhiskey, will you?"
AN- Sorry for the long wait. I honestly didn't know how to type this chapter out and I'm still not liking it.
