Chapter Fifty: Morning
My eyes fluttered open and I immediately felt the pain from the blaring sun shining into them. I felt a warm chest under my head and looked up to see my brother's sleeping face. He looked so peaceful in his sleep. Except for his puffy red eyes, though I am sure that I have them to from all of the crying I did yesterday. Slowly, I sat up and managed to not wake up my brother.
"Looks like Sleeping Beauty is finally up," a shirtless Sirius Black said with his annoying smirk. One that look remarkably like his brother's.
I only looked at him in confusion and furrowed my brow, "Sleeping who?"
"It's from a muggle fairy tale. Don't worry about it, Sophie," Remus explained as he pulled on his shoes.
I nodded and looked around the room. My brother and Peter were still sleeping and it sounded like Frank was taking a shower. Wiping my eyes, I turned to look at the clock.
"Shit, it's past eight? I'm going to be late!" I shouted and sprang out of bed, accidentally waking James up in the process, and put my shoes on. I was almost out the door when I heard my brother call my name.
"Hey, Soph? Um, you're still wearing..." he trailed off and just pointed at my clothes.
Looking down, I saw what he was talking about. I was still in my jeans and green shirt from yesterday, which were coated in dried blood from yesterday. I tried not to cringe when I remembered that it wasn't my blood and how it got on me. Fortunately, most of the blood was on my shirt.
"Do you think that I could borrow a jacket or something?" I asked awkwardly.
James nodded and headed to his open trunk that sat by his bed. Things were spewed out everywhere and there was absolutely no organization. He threw a mischievous look at me and then pulled out a red Gryffindor jumper.
"Oh, hell no, James. I am not wearing that thing through the school," I said while I shifted my weight to one foot and crossed my arms.
"Well, then I guess you'll have to leave like that. This is the only clean one I have," my brother told me with his bloody annoying smirk.
I sent a glare at my brother, "You are lying to me James Potter." Then I looked around the room to see his friends purposely ignoring us so I'd have to wear the stupid thing.
He just threw the sweater at me and shifted through his trunk some more to retrieve clothes for him to wear for the day.
"Fine, but if someone hexes me for wearing this, I'll come after you, James," I hissed at I pulled the article of clothing over my head. It was pretty big on me since my brother was a lot bigger than me, so it almost went down to my knees. Then I made my way toward the door. Right as I was about to turn the handle I heard Frank Longbottom call me.
"Hey, Potter," he waited long enough for me to acknowledge him before continuing. "I'm loving the new look."
I glared at him harshly, but he only laughed as walked over to his bed. I made sure to slam the door shut behind me as I left.
Taking one last glance in the mirror, I checked myself over on last time. My dark hair was in its natural wavy form and flowed gracefully down to my lower back. I was wearing a pair of dark wash jeans and a fuzzy green jumper that was a gift from my grandmother a Christmas or two ago. I nodded in acceptance and stuffed my wand in my back pocket. I'm sure that it would be chilly outside in the cool February air, so I made sure to grab my black cloak.
Trudging into the common room, I spotted Regulus waiting for me on the couch in front of the fireplace. I instantly perked up and walked quietly over to him.
"Sophie," Reg said with a smile on his face. "How was your trip?"
The smile on my face faded slowly. Regulus didn't know what happened yet. "It was awful. I'm going to be late for my meeting, so I'll tell you on the walk. Come on."
So we set of to Hogsmeade and I spilled everything out to my best friend. From Dumbledore's office to last night with James. He just stood by my side and waited patiently for me to finish. When I was finally done, he pulled me into a very comforting hug. The fight from a few days ago seemed like so long ago compared to now.
"I'm happy you took my advice and patched things up with your brother though. Things will get better, I promise. And I will make sure that you'll be okay no matter what," he whispered in my ear during our hug.
I nodded before pulling away and wiping away the tears that escaped. My stupid emotions have been going haywire lately and I don't think that I'll ever get used to it. Then I looked at our surroundings and spotted the Three Broomsticks up ahead.
"Hey, I have to meet Moody five minutes ago, so you don't think that you can give me a half hour or so to talk to him? I'll meet you at Honeydukes?" I muttered to the boy next to me, my eyes never leaving the building in front of me.
"Sure thing, Sophie. I need to get some new quills anyway. I guess I will see you later then?" the youngest Black brother confirmed.
I flashed him a smile and he gave my shoulder a supportive squeeze before walking away, his hand lingering longer than necessary. I didn't take much notice of that as I was too busy walking toward the pub.
AN- Sorry if it is a bit short. I have been busy lately and I just wanted to give you an update, so I cut the chapter in half. Though in the next few chapters I think I might have something in Regulus' view.
Thanks for all of the reviews Lol101, Nimea, FayeAllerion, rockinBallerina, celeste.c. arguello, Blue Luver5000, and Unknown. I have finally passed the 150 mark for reviews. Keep up the awesome work.
And I have been getting some questions about Regulus and Sophie getting together. I just wanted to say that it will happen somewhere in the near future when Sophie finally recognizes and accepts her feelings since she has been blocking them for years.
Until next time. -Laura
