Thanks to my beta, I am Red Bull, that awesome guy.
Okay enough about the mechanics of the story, ON TO THE CHAPTER!
This is Chapter 7.
The next day, English went by pretty fast. Finn and LSP chatted about their Tuesday classes a little bit but then Mr. White announced their second writing assignment was to be a topic of their choice. LSP became excited and started typing, dropping her and Finn's conversation immediately. After class, she rushed off to her dorm, to continue the paper, leaving Finn with only "I'll see you later." Finn shrugged, looked at his watch and walked over to his next class, College Algebra. He was early again, so he sat at the front row, setting his bag at the end of the desk. As he made a motion to head to the hall for some water, he bumped into another student, making him drop both his notebook and the class textbook.
"I am so sorry. I didn't even see you" Finn said as he swiftly helped pick up the other student's belongings from the floor.
The other student replied "It's okay, accidents happen. I wasn't anticipating you to move as fast as you did."
Finn nodded and handed him the last piece of paper from the floor "Again, I am very sorry, …uhh…"
"Kieran. My name is Kieran Towers." Kieran smiled.
"Kieran… wow, that's a really cool name!" Finn acknowledged.
Kieran chuckled "So I am told. Thanks." He took a seat next to Finn. "What is your name?"
"My name's Finn. Finn Mertens" He shrugged "Pretty simple."
"It's not that simple, really. Finn is usually spelled with two n's to distinguish it from 'fin' which means end in French."
Finn laughed "You know that makes sense. When I was younger, 'fin' used to come up on some old movies I liked to watch and I always wondered how they knew my name…" Kieran then joined in his laughter. When it died down, Kieran said
"You know, I'm sure I've seen you before…"
Finn pondered "Hmm… funny, I don't remember seeing you before today." Other students began to trickle in and soon enough the teacher did also. "I'll figure it out later." Kieran responded just as Ms. Knaus started lecture.
"Okay students. Today is when we get to actually work some problems! But first, as discussed on Monday, you all are to do a group project. You are allowed to do the project by yourself, but that is not recommended. And if you are to do this project, there can be no more than 3. Now because you all are not elementary school children, I will not be picking your groups, you shall be making the best decision on group members as you see would fit. With that out of the way, let's start with the equation of a straight line…"
After class, Finn and Kieran continued chatting, as they walked towards Finn's next class. Kieran told him that he was the head cyclist of Ooo University's cycling team and he's been going for only about a year. As they reached the psychology class door, two high pitched screams were heard.
"Kieran?!" They shouted from across the hall, causing Finn and Kieran to turn around. As soon as they did, Marceline had her arms locked in around his neck, in a suffocating hug. He coughed a bit and hugged her back loosely. When she released, Bonnie offered a side hug, understanding his need to recover from Marceline's.
"How do you guys always recognize me?" Kieran said as he rubbed his neck. Bonnie replied "Well 1. You're kinda tall and 2. Nobody could mistake that red mass of keratin atop your head." Marceline fluffed Kieran's ginger colored hair.
"You guys know each other I presume?" Finn asked with a know-it-all expression on his face.
Marceline replied sarcastically "No, I just yell random names and hug whoever happens to be posted up outside this classroom." Finn rolled his eyes. Then Kieran explained " We all took a class together a while back. And over summer break, when I was on a out on a training ride, I found Marceline. Her car had broken down, and using what I have learned in my pursuit of a mechanical engineering degree, I gave it a quick fix. Enough to get it to the shop…" Marceline gazed at him gratefully as he smiled back at her
Bonnie interrupted "So where have you been, Sir? I was sure I would have seen during game/tournament prep week and even more sure we would have seen you getting some laps in at the pool yesterday. You're usually there for aerobic training. But obviously neither happened."
"Yeah I'm sorry about that. I was back home a lot over this summer getting some needed leisure time. I was at the pool earlier yesterday though. I did see you two and some other guy outside the fitness center, on my way out, but then my coach had me rush back to do a time trial so I couldn't stop, sorry. Things have been… busy- to say the least. Still I think things will be more settled now." Kieran explained
"That guy was me! That must be where you saw me before!" Finn interjected. Kieran replied "Really? Are you on the swim team too?"
Finn said "No. I'm with football, but me and Bonnie were talking about something psych class, the conversation just made its way outside."
Kieran nodded "Speaking of football, I saw Brad, that bastard, was there too. I caught him saying something horrid to you guys."
Bonnie sighed "Yeah… but you know how he is. He's harmless unless he's had a few drinks…"
"Oh you don't have to tell me. I've shared enough blows with him when he's in that state…" Kieran shook his head. Marceline patted him on the back and smiled. At that, Bonnie noticed Dr. D walking towards the psych class door. She smiled and said coyly "I'm assuming you guys will be in class soon?"
Marceline rolled her eyes "Yes, Dr. D."
Dr.D chuckled and entered the class room with a loud, warm "Hello!"
Bonnie turned back to Kieran, "Well it appears we are needed in class." Marceline waved her hand at Bonnie " Dr. D could keep those suckers entertained without our help."
"No you guys should head to class. Your teacher already saw you, so if you ditched, she would know it's just that you left, not anything serious… But I'll see you guys soon. You two have my number if you want to hang out" He pointed to Bonnie and Marceline, then pointed to Finn "And I'll give it to you later, whenever you swing by my room to discuss our project for Algebra." Finn saluted him and the girls waved him goodbye as they briskly walked into their classroom.
"Ahh, I thank you for finally blessing us with your presence, we truly are not worthy, are we class?" Dr. D said humbly as she bowed. The three awkwardly stood, eyes all on them, as many students agreed with Dr. D. She rose and a smirk grew on her face as she unclasped her hands. Bonnie quickly said "We apologize for being late, Dr. D." Dr. D pointed to the clock which said 10:59 am. Her smirk grew as she saw their apologetic expressions turn into smiles.
"You guys are totally fine, I just like messing with people. Take your seats." She motioned to their seats and started lecture "Today, we will be going over my favorite topic, the BRAIN…"

After class, Marceline rushed off to her next. She got a little more caught up in talking to Dr. D than she wanted. Bonnie and Finn again lingered to attend Dr. D's office hours, both with psychological questions and their own hidden agenda. As they followed Dr. D up to her office, they saw again the same haughty figure leaned up against the wall adjacent to Dr.D's door. He had a fresh but odd haircut, almost completely shaved head save for a section in the center. He was a little more dressed down today, compared to Monday and Tuesday, wearing black scrubs rather than a suit. Dr. D walked up to him with her hands on her hips. "You know, I hate it when you cut your hair like that…"
"I know… you even made me miss my barber appointment yesterday…." Dr. Clint replied as he crossed his arms, looking down into her eyes in opposition.
Dr. D grinned "You're forgetful, that fault is not mine" She abruptly turned away towards her office door, letting her hair hit him in the face. After opening the door, she sassily walked in around to her desk.
"Yes it is, given what you did to distract me…" Dr. Clint replied with raised eyebrow in a threatening tone, leaning over her desk. Dr. D smile disappeared, her big eyes increasing in size. "I have students to converse with, get your face out of here!"
Dr. Clint smirked again as he walked over to his usual place by her bookcase" Nooooo, I'm going to stay right here" He crossed his arms, leaning against the window pane behind him. Dr. D glared at him briefly before turning back to the now sitting Bonnie and Finn. Awkward expressions were plastered to their faces as they remained silent, sensing the tension between their superiors. Bonnie finally spoke "Sooo about my Monday questions…"
"Yes! What is your speculation on ESP, why does it occur? How do you explain those who have it?" Dr. D edged over her desk with enthusiasm.
"Well I figured that, throughout the day, short comings are likely to befall everyone, so when you feel like something bad is going to happen, it's true, it's unlikely for some bad not to happen…" Bonnie replied
Dr. D smiled " I like your explanation. BUT, it doesn't explain why those who are having an excellent day, will feel like something bad will happen, then does within an hour."
Bonnie thought for a reason "Well, that could just be out of probability. Something bad is bound to happen, especially if things have been going right the whole day."
"I see. That does make sense. So basically, what you're saying is that 'psychics' are just really good staticians." Dr.D nodded.
Bonnie nodded also "Yes. Not to be disrespectful of anyone of course, that is just how I deduced it."
Dr. D tapped her chin. "You know what? Do this for me. There is a show called Psychic Investigators, I would like you to watch and give you take on it. It can be occasionally gory, but I don't take you as anyone who could get squeamish." Bonnie shook her head. "Nope, not at all." Dr. D smiled and then silence over took the room. Dr. Clint looked to Dr. D's face of which her eyes remained resonated at her students currently sitting before her. He smiled. He knew she was avoiding his gaze, just by the way she kept her head straight. And she knew he knew it.
Dr. D asked, masking the need in her voice "You have any more questions?"
"Nope not at all, Dr. D. When I watch this show, I'm sure I'll have some." Bonnie said as she stood. Dr. D turned to Finn, a smile gracing her features, but her eye conveying something else that Finn couldn't put a finger on.
"Again, I was a tag-along today. Maybe next time." He looked at her apologetically as he too rose. They walked out of her office, as Dr. D followed. Dr. Clint's eyes narrowed as he watched her movements.
"Well I guess I'll see you two on Monday then." She replied slightly disappointed. Bonnie gave her a smile, touching her shoulder. "Don't you worry, Dr. D. I'm sure you'll be able to relax from all the students with questions who must bust down your door every day!"
Dr. D gave her a small smile back "Yeah…" Dr. Clint abruptly came up close behind her, pushing his chest into her back. She became stiff at the sensation of him. Her expression became slightly annoyed as he spoke "Speaking of questions, I have a few for you Dr. D. Shall we step back into your office, so I can have them answered?" Dr. D looked to Dr. Clint as a flicker of an emotion known to only Dr. Clint flashed in her eyes. She turned back, walking into her office with Dr. Clint following her. Just before he closed the door, he told "I'll see you tomorrow."
The clicking noise happened again. Bonnie and Finn stealthily posted up against the wall just beside Dr. D's door. They started hearing Dr. Clint's sarcastic voice.
"What's the matter?"
"Don't give me that bull…" Dr. D spat.
Dr. Clint replied "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Yes you do. You know very well what I am talking about you idiot." Dr. D said angrily
"Wow, well I'm sorry for wanting more time. My wife doesn't give me enough of that." Dr. Clint responded, slightly angry.
Dr. D yelled back "Well MAYBE your wife has a lot of things to do! Such as readying of lesson plans, creating simulation activities! You can't blame her for being dedicated to her work! My husband usually doesn't do that, at least when he's not being a jackass."
Dr. Clint yelled back "Well you can't blame your husband for being like that sometimes! He likes spending time with you, I'm sure."
"Well he should know I like spending time with him too. But I have a responsibility to the school and to my students that needs tending too…" Dr. D's voice softened. Footsteps were heard. Then Dr. Clint whispered gently
"I know."
SOOOOOOOOOOO,
HOW DID IT GO?
What do you think of Dr. D and Dr. Clint's argument? Weird, right?
Ahhh, can't say anything else, or I'll give it away...
