"Hermione, are you coming down to breakfast?" a familiar voice whispered in my ear. I turned over on my side and open my eyes. There was Ginney kneeling down by my bedside table.
"I will just get ready, I will just meet you down their" I said as I rolled out if bed. Ginney waved and quickly walked out the door. I got ready in a few minutes, but I wasn't really feel too hungry. I sat on the edge of my bed and propped open my book, 'Welda Witch Wonderful Witchcraft Handbook'. I lost my self in the pages of instruction and technique. I quickly was reminded of breakfast by the grumbling if my stomach and headed down to breakfast.
The staircases were completely empty, everyone must had been excited for their first breakfast of the new school year. I was half way down my second set of stairs when another clicking if shoes broke the utter silence that filled the air. I was tempted to look over my shoulder and see who it was walking behind me, but I pushed down my temptation and continued walking until the clicking of shoes had stopped.
"Granger?" the voice called out. My head whipped around to see the face of Draco once again. "Go away Draco." I said and turned back toward the stairs and continued walking.
"Well yah see Granger, I so happen to be heading to breakfast too. Don't worry walking 5 steps behind you isn't enough distance if you ask me," Draco blurted out to my back. I turned back around slowly. "At least the feeling is mutual" I muttered. Draco snorted
"You got that right" he said sliding next to me. Only about ten more seconds till we reach the mess hall, come one I can avoid this conversation can't I? "So Granger, I heard you had the most exciting summer with those Muggle parents of yours and all those friends, must have been fun" he said, the sarcasm in his voice was to clearly to push me to the edge. Draco had known from a number of attempts that mentioning the fact that I was muggle born, would most likely make me want to kill him (which at his point I sure did think of killing him).
"I doubt your summer was any better," I said pushing on door open to the mess hall. I immediately saw Ginney waving to me. I slid between her and Harry. "Hermione, why did you walk in with Draco?" Ron chocked out while trying not to spit out any of him food. He sat directly across from me with a strawberry pastry in each hand. "He was just bothering me as usual," I said looking for a bagel. Ginney sat beside me and began to tell Harry about her equipment for her potions class. I awkwardly sat between them and decided I could probably get in at least one more chapter of my book if I took my bagel upstairs and ate it. "I think I am going to go back to the common room until herbology. See you later," I said and stood up from my seat. "Wait, Hermione, I'll come too. I have sometime before potions and need to get my text book anyway," Ginney said standing up. She snaked her arm over my shoulder and we walked out of the mess hall. "So, what class do you have after potions? Defense right?" Ginney said. "I think I have defense against the dark arts with Ron, did he say anything?" I asked walking up the second staircase with Ginney skipping beside me. "I think so, are you excited fort the New Year? I know I am, you know I never got to tell you what I did this summer," she said stopping on a break between stair cases. "Yeah what did you don this summer?" I asked. "Well, you know how I wanted to go on a trip to London, well when I was there with Mum, I went to the little shop, you know on the corner and I saw Draco," I was extremely confused as to where this story was going. "So we got to talking and he was actually kind of nice, I don't know I just thought I would tell you that because you were harsh on him this morning," Ginney said as she began walking up the stairs. We walked into the common room and I sat down on the grand couch by the fire and Ginney joined me. "I didn't mean it like that Hermione, I know he probably had his reasons for you to snap at him, but I just want you to know that he is not all evil," she said folding her hands in her lap and looking down at them. "Its fine Ginney, forget about it." I muttered. I stood up and walked out of the common room.
