Author's Note:
Sorry for taking so long to update. School and all that. But, I need your guys' help with something. I want to rearrange the story, after I get to a certain point. I want to make the story in the order it would come on the timeline, but I do not know if that is such a good idea or not. It would make the story initially a lot less confusing, for sure, but still. Let me hear your opinions! Thanks, and enjoy!
Brulant could smell something faintly in the wind that was gently caressing his cheeks.
"It took me a few days to find ya," a familiar voice echoed from somewhere near Jack. Jack heard some shuffling and a small sigh next to him and he turned his head over, a cocky smile growing on his face from seeing his longest rival and newest companion.
"Didn't think I'd enjoy seeing you ever," Jack said as he sat up and rubbed the back of his head. The bump was gone and Jack stared down at his leg, noticing that it had been set and was already almost finished healing. Immortal healing. Always the best way to go.
Bunny let out a quick, but gentle, laugh, then held out his paw to help up Jack.
"You had me worried there fer a while," Bunny said as he held Jack by the shoulder, waiting for the boy to gain his balance, then wiped off some of the dirt on the back of his shirt. "You were pretty beat up when I found you yesterday. Was just able to set yer leg before it healed shaped like that," Bunny said conversationally as he stared out over the horizon, now simply enjoying the company of his suddenly conscious companion.
"A few days?" Jack asked, his thoughts finally catching up to everything Bunny had just said. The Pooka gave Jack a quick side glance.
"Yeah. Found you lying in this cave. Been looking for you for days. You ran off all willy nilly in a huff. North thought it best to keep distance until you came back, but a few days passed and we were gettin' worried, so I came lookin'. Took me a few hours, but your sent is never too hard to find. Anyhow, North's been working with the potions and he thinks he might have found something."
"Is that why…?" Jack asked, letting his thoughts trail off, hoping Bunny would be able to finish the sentence for him.
"Why, what?" Bunny asked, straightening up, a small sense of worry creeping into the back of his mind. After everything else Jack had been through, Bunny was almost hesitant to find out what else had happened.
"I...," Jack tried, but his voice failed him as he thought of his counterpart, Frost, and the third they had met, the human one. Was that even real? Maybe he was just hallucinating. That whole thing must have simply been just that, a dream; some crazy trick of his mind. It would explain why he so willingly jumped off of that cliff, but Jack felt that that was wrong.
"Yeah?" Bunny tried prompting, hoping to get something out of the boy. Jack shook his head, feeling a headache forming in the back of his head. He felt dizzy, and could hear something being carried on the wind. But, it was-
Jack was knocked back and the air in his lungs was forced out as something hit him at such a speed as to terrify Bunnymund next to him and send Jack flying a few feet.
Jack, after finally gaining access back into his lungs, sat up, and came face to face with someone almost too familiar.
"You have got to be kidding me," Jack heard Bunny mutter in the background as Jack reached out at the same time as Frost, and touched his hand to the other's.
"I guess I'm no longer in your head," Frost joked as Brulant stared at him in wide-eyed horror. What was going on?
