CJ opened the door to their hotel room to find Toby wasn't in the bedroom; she walked into the bathroom and he was sitting having a bath.

"You don't take baths." She snorted at the sight of him writing, his glasses perched on his nose and surrounded by bubbles. There were unlit candles at one end, and she could distinctly smell her rose and hibiscus bubble bath liquid.

"I made it for you, but then I figured it would get cold if I left it too long." He shrugged, "I'm sure you could join me though."

She smiled at his sweetness, "No, I'm going to bed. Come on, dry off and join me instead."

"Fine," he mumbled and passed her his legal pad while he drained the tub.

He came in a short while later in a t-shirt and shorts, settling into the bed at her side.

"Did you pack?" she wondered.

"Yeah, I can take some of the stuff you've already worn back?"

"Good, I was going to ask you anyway."

Toby slid an arm around her waist, kissing her neck, as they reclined under the covers. She turned and met his lips, kissing him contently for a while before he pulled away.

"Did you have any alcohol tonight?" he questioned, unable to taste the vodkas he thought she'd consumed earlier.

"Just a little," she said quietly and kissed him again; he was seemingly content with her answer.

Meanwhile back in the bar, Henry was still confused at the displays of the others.

"What's going on?" he quizzed.

Donna sighed, "We have something that's going to maybe, or maybe not, blow your mind."

"Go on…" he gestured at her to continue.

"CJ and Toby are dating, even living together," she said and paused to take in his reaction.

"Really?"

"Really." Josh confirmed.

"However," Donna continued, "They don't know, or at least haven't told us so, that we know. I worked it out weeks ago, you know when she passed out that time, and ever since we've been on their cases. We set her up on a blind date to try and get her to confess, which she didn't, but there was an awkward confrontation between Toby and the guy when she got home."

"What?" Henry was utterly surprised.

"It happened on the front steps of their apartment, we followed Toby home that night," Sam chimed in.

"Do they know you saw it all?"

"Yes, but they still didn't confess. We got them rooming together as you know, another catalyst on the road to confession but alas, it wasn't to be." She said solemnly.

"Until…" Josh added, "CJ's dry night. We're thinking she could be pregnant."

"CJ? Pregnant? With Toby's child?" Henry's surprise was evolving into shock, earning amused smiles from the others.

"I'd keep your voice down in case reporters are here," Sam chuckled, "but it's very possible. Now Toby and Josh are going home tomorrow, so we're going to have to crack CJ."

"Would Toby know?" Josh asked the others, "I could try working him too."

"Well of course you will," Donna exclaimed warningly.

"Oh my god though, imagine if she is. This would be the best." Sam smiled.

"Their secret wouldn't be much of a secret anymore…" Donna sang cheerfully. A baby in the equation would be brilliant for them, in all honesty, but she was excited at the fact that they were finally going to be able to get a true revelation from the couple.

The next morning, CJ and Toby woke early to really get a chance to say goodbye to each other.

Toby was tenderly running a finger down her spine afterwards when she suddenly felt ill, "Tobus, would you go and get the papers from downstairs please?" She asked softly, turning to face him slowly.

"Sure," he kissed her and pulled on some clothes to go downstairs.

As soon as he shut the door, CJ rushed to the bathroom and collapsed over the toilet bowl, emptying the contents of her stomach. It hadn't been the first time this week and there was an edging suspicion in the back of her mind, but she forced it to stay there as Toby came back.

Glad it seemed like a one time thing, she cleaned her teeth and switched the shower on to calm herself down before entering the bedroom in a robe.

"Got them," he held them up as he noticed her.

"Okay, thanks," she muttered.

"Shower?" he asked seductively and she shook her head with a smile.

"Someone's insatiable this morning,"

"Sue me if I want to have sex with my beautiful girlfriend all the time," he smirked, undressing and following her into the shower.

It was a rather unfortunate moment for them when Josh caught their final goodbye right before Toby left to get into the cab. They hadn't realised he was behind them, having left his own hotel room to find the "secret" lovers locked in an embrace.

"Game's up, you two." Josh beamed as they kissed, "I mean you haven't done an excellent job of hiding things recently, but seriously, I'm so happy for you guys."

CJ groaned as she pulled away from Toby, "I swear to god I want to hit you with a frying pan, Josh."

"I thought love would've softened you, CJ," he teased, but sobered at her glare.

Donna and Sam came outside of their respective rooms at this point, discovering Toby's arm still around CJ and Josh smiling at them like a child at Christmas.

"What's going on here?" Sam wondered in mock curiosity and Toby frowned at him.

"Don't start Sam," he grumbled and Sam grew a look of feigned shock.

"Don't start what, Toby? An eloquent speech about the power of love and its mysterious ways?"

"Spanky…" CJ warned and his face broke out into a huge smile.

"This is amazing, you know?"

Donna grinned between them, "I can't believe it! Well I can, because you know, we all figured it was true, but I'm so happy for you guys!"

"Look," CJ began, "It's not a big deal okay? We're together, we know you were playing us, now can we all move on?"

"What she said," Toby added and then looked at Josh, "We really ought to go now."

"Yeah," Josh nodded, "See you later guys."

CJ quickly kissed Toby again, earning a chorus of "ahhh" from their audience. "I love you," she whispered.

"I love you too," he muttered and kissed her again before turning to follow Josh down the corridor.

"This is more sickening than I thought it would be," Sam groaned as Toby and Josh began their walk towards the elevator and CJ slapped him on the arm.

"Shut up, your own fault for prying."

"But aren't you glad it's all in the open now?" He asked gleefully and was met with another shove, leaving the rest of the walk down to the conference room a silent one.

As soon as Josh and Toby got into the cab, Josh turned to him inquisitively.

"So, how long has this been going on?" he asked eagerly.

Toby groaned, but knew he was in no position for any denial, "A little over a year, we were sleeping together on the campaign though."

Josh grimaced slightly, "Wow, okay. Was it when you, uh, were…?"

"No, after the divorce," Toby confirmed, knowing Josh was hesitant in his curiosity.

He laughed, "I can't believe you were hiding it from us, why did you?"

"We didn't want a fuss and truthfully we didn't think it would stay secret for so long, especially when she moved in," he paused slightly, "So then we just thought we'd see how long we could keep it hidden."

"You did a good job," Josh told him and smiled because he noticed how Toby seemed to have softened.

"Yeah," Toby sighed, not in annoyance.

Josh grinned, "So you really love her?"

"Yes." He said plainly.

Josh beamed again and slapped him on the shoulder in pride, "Toby, this is awesome, it really is man."

It wasn't until lunchtime that Donna and Sam got a chance to talk to CJ about the 'new' discovery.

"I think it's great you know," Donna said with a smile in CJ's direction, "You two make such a good couple."

CJ chuckled, "You should've spoken up before now."

"It wasn't until you passed out that time and I took you home that I started piecing it together."

"So you're the mastermind behind uncovering us?"

Donna blushed, "Yeah…"

"Hey don't be embarrassed," CJ told her, "We should've realised no couple can keep a relationship a secret for over a year."

"That's how long it's been?" Sam asked in shock.

"A bit longer. We slept together for a while on the campaign after he got divorced but it wasn't until later we decided to try being together." She smiled at them, clearly enamoured.

"We knew you two were close, but wow," Sam declared.

"Well, Spanky, there you go."

He got up from the table as he chuckled back at her, "I need to go find the President, see you later."

When it was just CJ and Donna, CJ looked around carefully before leaning in towards her, "Can I talk to you about something?"

"Sure," Donna smiled, "What's up?"

CJ looked apprehensive, but began nonetheless, "I think I might be pregnant."

Considering their suspicions the previous night, Donna attempted her best look of shock, "No way?!"

"Shhh," CJ looked around again, "I'm not sure but I've put on weight, I'm always nauseous and I've been having all kinds of mood-swings. I'm surprised there was still a relationship for you lot to discover the way I shouted at Toby last weekend."

She laughed anxiously and Donna saw the concern in her eyes, "Have you told Toby?"

"He'll flip out," CJ said, running a hand through her hair.

"How do you know?" Donna asked patiently.

"It's Toby. I mean he's brilliant to me, but I don't think he's ready for a baby. Hell, I'm not."

"Did you take a test?" she wondered.

"Not yet, I was going to wait and see how I was this weekend." CJ explained, "I have some tests at home in case of emergencies, but I've never needed them. We're always careful."

"Too drunk to use protection?" Donna said in a voice that eerily reminded CJ of her mother.

"Yes and no," she said shyly, "I forgot to take my pill one day and then I completely forgot once we got drunk and I think I did realise but it was you know, a bit late."

"Yeah…" Donna replied sheepishly, now the shy one.

CJ laughed at this softly but looked down at her salad and moaned, "God I'm irresponsible."

"Don't worry about it, CJ. You might not even be pregnant, just wait and see, talk about it with Toby when you get home."

She smiled sadly at Donna, "Thanks Donna, not a word to anyone though."

"Sure thing," and they continued eating lunch with the topic playing heavily on both their minds.

Josh and Toby got back to DC, having spent the whole plane journey planning their meetings, and something occurred to Josh in the cab to the White House.

"Are you guys planning to tell Leo?"

"We'll have to I suppose," Toby said nonchalantly.

"So you haven't? Won't he be pissed?" Josh was worried for his friends, hoping it wouldn't become an issue.

"Why do you think we kept it to ourselves for so long?" he commented, "I mean, it hasn't affected our work so hopefully that's a step in the right direction but I don't know."

"What if you guys ever want to get married or something?"

"Don't think I haven't thought about it. I nearly proposed on our anniversary." Toby's admission shocked Josh, who stared at him with wide eyes.

"No way? What?!" he exclaimed.

"Yeah, I've got the ring and everything, but I chickened out." He chuckled awkwardly, rubbing his beard in embarrassment, and Josh continued to be absolutely dumbfounded at this side of Toby.

"Oh my god! You should do it man, I mean after you've told Leo and the President, who by the way is totally for you two being together."

"What?"

"He saw you guys asleep on Air Force One, a nice couple he thinks you'd make."

Toby groaned, "Excellent."

"It's a good thing, Toby!"

"Not if he gets all protective and weird."

"True, but still," Josh smiled at the slightly flustered Toby. "Propose to her, make her your wife, bring some little Creggs and Zieglers into the world."

"You know," Toby frowned and looked away ephemerally before meeting Josh's eyes again, "I think she might be."

"Be what? Pregnant?" Josh asked incredulously, last night's events playing on his mind.

"Yeah, I mean she hasn't said anything, and she'd kill me for discussing it with someone, but she's been different lately." Toby said in a low voice.

"Different?" he asked innocently.

"Her mood-swings have been absurd. She spent the entire last weekend yelling at me and then I found her crying in the kitchen on Sunday, no explanation whatsoever." Josh felt a wave of sympathy for her as Toby continued, "Plus, I'm sure I heard her throwing up this morning too, she'd sent me out to get the papers and when I came back I heard her coughing violently and the toilet being flushed. And yeah, she really would kill me for noticing this, but she has put on a little weight recently. God I don't even know how I could tell."

He sighed deeply, looking rather helpless as he stared at Josh for a response.

"I'd call you crazy but she wasn't drinking last night either."

"She wasn't?" Toby wondered in a casual tone.

"Henry told us she asked for vodka and soda, but the bartender only gave her a soda and then she went 'oh it's fine' and walked off weirdly."

"Jesus Josh, what if she is pregnant?" He was finally realising that maybe the symptoms added up to the same conclusion.

"You want to be a father?" Josh questioned.

"Yes but-"

Josh stopped him, "But what?"

"What if we're not ready?"

"No-one ever really is, you two are capable adults, you'll be fine."

"I don't know, I always figured if we had kids it would be later you know? We'd be married, not in the middle of planning a re-election campaign," Toby let out an exasperated half sigh, half groan in Josh's direction.

Josh sighed back, "You need to talk to her, Toby."

On Saturday night, Toby called CJ to see how she was doing and because in all honesty, he missed her like crazy.

"Hey," she smiled noticing their home number came up when her phone rang.

"Hi, you okay?" he said softly.

"Yeah, the meetings worthwhile?"

"Pretty much, just need to wrap up tomorrow."

"Good. I miss you."

"I miss you too, the plans coming to fruition?"

"Very smoothly," she chuckled, "Look, I need to talk to you when I get back."

If he was none the wiser, he would've been worried, "I know."

She was taken aback, "You do?"

"Yes," he didn't want to talk about it over the phone, "We'll talk about it when you get back though."

"You sure?" CJ's apprehensiveness was slowly diminishing with his calm attitude.

"Yes," he repeated clearly, "So did you get the brunt of the questions from everyone?"

"Not as badly as I thought, but I still need to quiz Donna on her little plan to suss us out," she laughed.

"Okay," he breathed, "Josh was very enthusiastic about us being together, but I think we need to prepare for Leo."

"Oh god yeah," she moaned, and then realised if she was pregnant, hell would go down, "Will he be okay about this?"

"I sure as hell hope so," he grumbled, "Josh said the President thinks we're a good couple though."

"What?" she asked in amusement.

"Yeah, apparently he did see us asleep and told him we'd make a nice couple."

"Well if he's okay with it I don't see why Leo can't be."

"Let's wait and see, then."

"It's a scary thought, Leo can be a scary man." CJ shuddered slightly, really not wanting their relationship to suffer once it was out in the open.

"I'd be more worried about the press," Toby quipped.

"Oh jeez, thanks for that little vote of confidence."

He sensed the worry behind her joking, "It'll be fine."

"I hope so, god I'm tired."

"Go to sleep then, I won't keep you up." He said, and she noticed how his voice became even softer as he murmured down the phone. She hoped it was butterflies in her stomach, not anything else.

"Okay, okay."

"Oh, I'll pick you up from the White House tomorrow as Leo said you're going back for a briefing."

"Yeah, oh okay."

"I'll go then, I love you CJ."

She grinned, "I love you too, Toby."

"Night"

"Night."

"Actually: wait, Ceej?" he realised there was something he wanted to say and it didn't matter if they weren't face to face.

"Yeah?" her voice was timid and innocent; he couldn't help missing her even more.

"Whatever happens, however we end up, it's going to be okay."

CJ felt herself getting emotionally quickly, so swallowed, "I really do love you, you know?"

He smiled to himself, "I know, me too. Night."

Toby hung up the phone, tired as hell and full of anticipation in DC, while CJ in Seattle tried to compose her breathing from the happy tears preventing her from sleeping.
