Author's Note: Helloooo the chin! It's good to be back everyone and with a brand new chapter! You can expect on Thursday's, ONCE a week from now on! I missed this so much! This chapter, oh, this chapter! I had serious writer's block! However, it is finished now!
When the ship first saw King's Landing, Gendry felt relief more than anything. He knew full well the he landed, Gendry would have to deal with the Targaryen girl. At the very least he could escape Arya without it being noticeable.
Since he and Arya's kiss, Gendry avoided her all he could but on a small vessel there are only so many places a King can hide.
"You happy to be going home?" Jon asked from behind. Gendry had heard his friend walk up but had been enjoying the silence. Not wanting to offend him, Gendry turned and gave Jon a half smile. "Worrying about the Khaleesi won't help anything you know." Jon added.
Gendry turned full round now, "I wasn't worried about her. But then you brought it up, thanks." he said, only half joking.
The young men walked up to the deck together. Gendry's eye caught Arya and Nymeria working on the sails. He immediately slowed his pace. "Have you still not spoken with her? Gendry you aren't a child, perhaps you try reasoning with her." Snow suggested.
"I kissed her, Jon. I didn't take Needle away from her. What is there to reason?" he argued. Gendry looked to Jon but found no agreement there. Simply a raised brow and an expression implicating his dissaproval in Gendry's statement.
The ship had finally landed and Arya could barely believe her own eye's. On the road behind the dock sat three, gorgeous dragons , larger than some apartments. Not far was a young girl with hair so white, it seemed as bright as the Sun itself.
Closer to the end of the dock stood one tall Lady with hair as red as a turning fall leaf and a short stumpy man beside her, holding a child, nearly has large as himself, in his arms. Arya knew immediately it was Sansa and Tyrion.
Before lowering the bridge to the deck, Arya jumped off the edge of the boat and ran to her older sister. The two held each other for a while before pulling away. Sansa had tears down her cheeks and put Arya's hand in her own. When Jon reached them, Sansa forced them all into a big, group hug. Jon and Sansa's laughter was like music to Arya's ears. She hadn't realized how much she had missed them.
"Oh look at me! Forgetting my manners while there's a visiting Queen! Tyrion, you remember Arya, don't you?" Sansa asked while taking the boy, Arya estimated to be two years old, from her husband.
"How could I forget! The last I saw you, you were a mere child. A spirit child! Throwing food at your sister." Tyrion laughed. Arya was pleased that her homecoming wasn't difficult for anyone.
Jon had a twinkle in his eye's and Arya knew what was coming, "The spirit is still there, but the child is not. How are you, brother?" Jon questioned as he embraced Tyrion. How strange this King's Landing was to the one in Arya's memory.
The young Stark couldn't imagine ever embracing a Lannister as a brother and still struggled with Jon's immediate warmth towards Tyrion. However, Arya remembered stinking homeless people all around the palace that were now replaced with children playing. Unafraid of any danger. Where Arya remembered heads on a spike, there were new sculpture's. Gendry had even established a shelter for children and those without a trade.
"Come, as much as I wish this homecoming was simple, we are keeping a Queen, that has rather large dragons which one might call intimidating, waiting." Tyrion reminded. Gendry sighed, fixed his posture and lead the way.
As the group neard, the dragon's seemed larger and very aware of the coming humans. Arya watched as Gendry welcomed and kissed Daenerys Targaryen's hand.
The Mother of Dragons was more beautiful than Arya had heard. People in Bravos told tales fo the young Queen's beauty but they did not do her justice. Daenerys' hair was to her hip and her skin was pale as snow. So pale no one would believe her to be a Khaleesi of the Dothraki. When the young Queen looked up, she stared straight at Arya with deep, violet eyes that looked like sapphires.
"Lady Stark, I am pleased to make your acquantence." Daenerys said taking Arya's hand. Uncomfortable, Arya pulled her hand away. "Just Arya, Your Grace. I am no Lady." She said with a quick bow. "Come Nymeria." Arya ordered as she walked straight past the dragons without a second look.
Arya ran for the Redkeep, unable to walk. She didn't know what the Targaryen girl wanted, but Arya was going to watch her like a hawk for as long as she was in King's Landing.
Jon stood still, unable to imagine Arya having a good reason to run off like that. "She has just returned from being in the company of the Faceless Men. She will cool down Your Grace." he attempted to assure her. Gendry shifted uncomfortably beside Jon. It was a lie, plain and simple. Arya was stubborn and had a temper, Jon couldn't deny that. However, there was no need for a Targaryen to know about that.
"I'm sure it will take time for the young Stark girl to adjust. She was away for ever so long. It is funny though, Lady Arya looks much like her Aunt did in my brother's drawings." the Khaleesi stated with a laugh. Jon didn't know what the girl meant by that statement, but he did not like it.
Before anymore awkward conversation could be made, Gendry offered for them to head to the dinner that had been prepared. He took the arm of the dragon girl.
Ser Jorah Mormont tightened seeing their touch. Jon made note of that in his memory as he followed behind the three. "She hasn't been the least bit threatening in her stay so far. Whatever her buisness, it does not bring war." Tyrion whispered to Jon. Snow returned the comment by squeezing the imp's shoulder before looking up to see Sansa's worried eye's.
"Arya's a smart girl. Giver her time, Sansa. You don't know how she spent the last six years. Arya's home. For now, that's as good we can get." Jon comforted. Sansa nodded her head in understanding, lifting the young Robb from the ground. Jon's sister sought solace in the hand of her husband.
It touched Jon to see how close the two were and his heart ached for Ygritte. Hair the color of fire and a heart as loyal as a direwolf, with the temperament of wildling. Her voice echoed in his mind, 'You know nothing, Jon Snow.' Oh how his heart hurt, knowing he shall never see her again.
The rest of the evening dinner went smoothly. About halfway through it, Arya strolled in with Nymeria. She was careful to choose a spot with Jon. At the end of the table and as far away from Daenerys as possible. Jon giggled a bit at the empty chair next to the Queen and a hard kick underneath the table, from Sansa, gave him the signal to stop.
Once the dinner was over, Jon was walking to retire for the night when the Targaryen rounded the corner, " Khaleesi! Should you be-
"Call me Dany, please. You and I have much to discuss, Snow. Meet me in the godswood at midnight, alone. You leave your guards, and I leave mine." she said walking away. Jon's curiosity got the better of him. Shadow would not be far behing at this meeting.
Note: Well there it is everyone! Hope you enjoyed it! Don't forget to review! Also I am debating over whether or not to ass in Lyanna and Rhaegar storyline, so you have a few chapters before you need to decide! So, with that being said, I was all feelsy from the Day of the Doctor, so I was listening to the entire Doctor Who series 7 soundtrack
