Chapter 10 - Meeting

A knock sounded at the door of the Tezuka home Saturday midmorning and the matriarch, Ayana, asked her one and only son to answer it. There had been no practice that morning and Tezuka found himself spending time with his family that morning before he started work on his homework and studying. However, the moment he opened the door, he wanted to slam it shut again; Fuji was on the other side with his bright smiling face. It was that smile that Tezuka Kunimitsu was never sure about… the tensai could be plotting, happy, mad, or sad and no one would ever know. Sighing mentally, he finally greeted his friend, "Fuji."

"Saa Tezuka. I was wondering if you had a moment to talk," Fuji stated in all seriousness.

He really didn't want to, but the former buchou really didn't think he had much of a choice, "Hai." Turning around, he found his mother, "I am going for a walk with Fuji." Whatever needed to be said, Tezuka wanted to make sure his family didn't overhear anything… especially if it was his blood curdling screams as he was murdered, or tortured, whatever struck his friend's fancy that day. Facing his friend again, he nodded and gestured for the other teen to take the lead.

As they walked Tezuka noticed two things: his heart was racing at the close proximity of the tensai and Fuji wasn't talking. He took in a deep breath and asked, "What did you want to talk about?"

"Right to it then? Okay, why did you come back from Germany? Why did you kiss me? Why are you dating Yukimura? I heard that it was a ploy, but I thought I would talk to you before I accepted that reason," Fuji demanded. He wasn't smiling any longer, his eyes were wide open and held a hard glint to them, and his expression mirrored that of when he played an opponent seriously. This was not a game.

Tezuka could see the determined expression of the other teen and he wasn't sure what to say. He wanted to tell him the truth, but Yukimura had a plan. Wasn't he supposed to be following the plan? Opening his mouth to speak, he planned to deny answers, but that isn't what popped out. It was like his brain and his mouth were disconnected, "You."

"Me?"

"I came back because of you, but that reason doesn't exist any longer."

"Why not? I'm still here!"

"Are you not dating Sanada?"

"I… I… Ne what if I wasn't?"

"There are a lot of 'what ifs' in the world, but not always answers. Right now you are and that is where it stands."

"What about you and Yukimura?"

"We are together because of reasons that I cannot say at this time." Fuji's eyes turned a bit murderous and the smile that appeared on his face was scary enough to make anyone fear him, and it caused Tezuka to stop and take a step away from him. That glint was never a good one and it usually meant that someone would be tortured… Tezuka just hoped that it wasn't him.

"Sou ka."

"Ah."

"Do you love me? My feelings haven't changed, but I need to know your feelings," Fuji declared.

If it was anyone else, he/she would be sweating bullets right now afraid for the very breath they breathed, but this wasn't anyone else. This was Tezuka Kunimitsu, stoic leader of the Seigaku middle school tennis team that won the national competition the year before. He didn't bend under pressure like most people did, and he wouldn't this time… he hoped. However, he did like hearing that Fuji still loved him and had feelings for him. "Ah," was his noncommittal response as his heartbeat increased and he prayed the tennis tensai could not hear it, could not see how he was affected. Tezuka really was a bit flustered and terrified of what Fuji could and would do to him.

The smile Fuji adopted clearly stated, "If you don't tell me what I want to know, you will pay the price, or someone/something you love will. I know how to get what I seek." Snickering (maybe a little on the maniacal side), he stated, "Saa it is a simple yes or no answer Tezuka."

"Nothing is ever that simple Fuji."

Chuckling, the blue eyed man nodded, "This is true." He sidled up close to his prey, uh love interest, and gave him an intense look as if he could read all of the secrets hidden away inside the stoic teen, "So tell me, yes or no?" The only indication that Fuji's actions were having an effect on the other teen was the slight reddening of Tezuka's cheeks. That was an interesting observation indeed because not many people to get a reaction besides laps out of the taller man when off of the tennis court.

Before he could stop himself, Tezuka's mouth once again did not listen to his brain, "Hai." He slapped himself mentally and ordered himself to complete 100 laps for his lack of control.

"Saa now that wasn't so hard, was it?" Fuji giggled. He could see how difficult this was for his friend, but he needed the answers and if this was the only way, then so be it.

"It doesn't change the fact you have a boyfriend. Excuse me," Tezuka told him before leaving the tensai standing alone on the sidewalk as he made his escape. He needed to get away from Fuji, at least for now.

Shaking his head, Fuji grinned even bigger, "Ne Inui, did you get some good data?"

The dataman stepped out of the bushes and adjusted his glasses, "I actually was not planning on collecting data this morning…"

Fuji crossed his arms, his smile growing, "Is that so? And you just happen to see Tezuka and I walking so you thought you would follow?"

Gulping, Inui was instantly afraid for his life as he got the full affect from the bright blue eyes that were flashing with irritation. He wasn't sure if it was at him or at Tezuka, but when it came to Fuji, it didn't matter… he could be a dead man for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, curse his data collecting stalker nature, "You were coming the same way I was. I didn't…"

"You better be careful. You never know what you are going to walk into," Fuji's tone was friendly, but no one could miss the threat hidden there.

"I will keep that in mind," Inui's voice sounded tight, but he tried to pretend the tensai and resident sadist wasn't getting to him; of course that task was actually a feat in and of itself and next to impossible for anyone except Tezuka. Then again, he had just witnessed a reaction from the stoic ex-buchou, so that meant Tezuka could in fact be affected by Fuji just as much as the other. It was an interesting observation and more than anything Inui wanted to shout, "Ii data!" He was able to hold himself in check, but only until he was sure Fuji was out of sight and earshot. Well, the thought the sadist was because a moment later he received a text message that said, "I heard you. Hahaha." Sweat dropping, he believed he might be a dead man walking.

Later that afternoon, Inui and a small group of other tennis players met at the one and only Atobe Keigo's home and were greeted with the opulence only "Ore-sama" could exude. If there had been any other way, none of them would be there, but they needed Atobe to help with the plan because he was a friend to everyone, or at least admired all four teens in this love square.

All together five tennis players showed up at the Atobe home and were shown into a parlor believing they would work with him to develop and put into place a plan that would get the four love struck teens with the right people. It was only supposed to be a total of six people… so why were there a total of eight Hyotei tennis players waiting for the others? And that included Ootori Choutarou who was still in middle school.

"Atobe, I believe I asked…" Inui began and was cut off.

"Ahn, Ore-sama knows what you said and decided to be gracious and offer you additional help. You can thank Ore-sama for his generosity. Wakashi, however, refused to attend. So you will have to make due with these members," Atobe replied with a smile that clearly told everyone he believed he was superior to everyone else.

Pushing up his glasses, Inui glanced to his left and found Yanagi before returning his gaze to Atobe, "Isn't Ootori still in middle school? How is he supposed to help?"

"Don't say anything lame against Choutarou, or you will have to deal with me!" Shishido challenged.

Ootori grabbed his senpai's arm, "Shishido-san, he is right. I am not even sure what I am doing here."

With a snap of his fingers silence fell upon the crowd, and Atobe told the non-Hyotei people, "If you want Ore-sama's help, you will take everything he has to offer. Ahn."

Everyone knew dealing with Atobe could and would be a delicate matter, and Yanagi tried to placate the Hyotei captain as he bowed, "We understand and we thank you for the any help you can give us in this situation."

"That is more like it… come," Atobe snapped his fingers again and began to lead the way to the library so that they could all decide the best course of action to take in this special situation.

It was a long drawn out process, but finally after Inui filled everyone in on what happened earlier in the day (Kikumaru really believed he needed to plan a funeral for his glasses wearing friend… which meant shopping for some new black clothes), they had a plan and it would begin the next day. Since Yukimura, Atobe, and Yamato were all the current captains, Atobe was going to call a captain meeting and declare that Yukimura needed to bring Sanada. Yamato will call Tezuka and Fuji and tell them that there was a team meeting the next day, but the meeting would not include the whole team. This was just step one… and Ore-sama came up with much of the plan himself. This couldn't go wrong… could it? They would all have to wait and see… and pray they made it on the other side with their souls still attached to their bodies, their bodies still completely intact, and no one died or was tortured (that really as asking a lot, but when hoping, dreaming, and praying, may as well go big). Tomorrow they would see the fruits of their labor, or the Japanese tennis circuit for high school and middle school would be missing thirteen gifted players; and some teams would need to find new buchous to replace the ones that lost their lives in the line of duty… it would at least be an honorable death (kind of).
