Author's Note: Hi everyone! Here is another chapter to feast your eye's upon! I hope you enjoy it! I am just finishing up the next chapter so that I won't have any excuses not to post it! The Lyanna question still stands but I have loved getting feedback! With that being said! Enjoy!
Gendry had called Arya into the throne room this morning while she was stabbing a hay man. She wished he hadn't. Ordinarily, Arya would refuse, however with a Khaleesi visiting, Arya thought it best not to undermine Gendry. Jon was supposed to escort her but Arya saw the tiredness he had since their return a few days prior.
As she approached the great hall, Arya attempted to smooth out her slean riding leathers. She already knew Sansa would scowl with disapproval and Tyrion would smile and wink. Arya had begun to enjoy her brother- in-law.
When Arya walked into the room, she saw something she did not expect. Gendry was seated on the Iron Thrones with Tyrion at his right hand. What she did not expect was for Queen Daenerys to be standing a few steps down to Gendry's left. The Queens bodyguard, Ser Jorah, as he preferred to be called, was near her side, as always.
Not knowing where to stand, Arya bowed with her hand on the hilt of her sword and glared at the Targaryen before taking a place beside Sansa, who was holding little Robb's hand.
Arya had not bothered to find ou the name of her nephew upon landing but his name touched her heart dearly. On the first night in her old room in the Tower of the Hand, Arya had a rough time sleeping, constantly being awakened by nightmares. She almost wish she was under the Red god again so the memories would leave her. Her sister came in , sensing Arya's discomfort.
"I heard about your child. Fainted when I found out, and cried over it's loss." Arya said as Sansa wrapped her nightgown a litle tighter around her still very slim waist,
Sansa sat down and took a deep breath," I was depressed over the loss myself until one morning. One morning, Tyrion brought Robb in to see me. Robb climed onto our bed and asked me to walk in the godswood and pray with him. When I asked what he was praying for, Robb answered, 'For the gods to bring my brother or sister to a nice place.'" Sansa paused. "After that, I focused on what I had and let my baby go." she finished.
The two sisters spent the rest of the night conversing over what had been missed since that horrible day and fell asleep laughing together like they had as children.
Arya was pulled into reality as Gendry continued with the Kingdom's debate over how to re-build The Wall. The Targaryen suggested the magic of dragons and had no problem expressing herself. Arya would be grateful for the journey North when she would no longer have to worry about the Dothraki Queen.
As Arya watched the negotiations, her eye's got honed in on Gendry. His few years ruling the realm had aged him. Not the kind of aging that brings wrinkles but, a maturity and tiredness. His eyes looked so old and worn. She hadn't noticed before now. Gendry's love for his people would be the death of him.
Other than her simple presence, Arya hadn't the slightest idea why Gendry had called her into court today. Perhaps her coming was more the Queen's idea than his own. Arya learned to avoid the dragon. She wanted nothing to do with the daughter of the Mad King who burned her uncle and father alive all those years ago.
When all the day's business had been handled, Gendry called a small council meeting. Sansa took the glance from her husband and invited Daenerys to walk in the garden with her. Though the young queen looked cool on the outside, her violet eyes said something else entirely.
Gendry offered Arya his arm and motioned to the council room with the other. It became clear to Arya why the king had wanted her in court today. She felt awkward taking Genry's arm but hid it expertly. Once Arya walked in she saw a large table with a large chair at the head of it, which Arya assumed to be Gendry's. To the right of the large chair sat Tyrion and the left sat Jon. Thoros and a few other Lords that Arya didn't recognize were seated as well.
Arya's chair was straight across from Gendry and she took it quickly once Gendry had sat down. "Arya, surely you are confused as to why I called you in this meeting today. I have attempted to learn of the Khaleesi's reason for her stay. However, the young queen will give no excuse for her trip, nor when she will leave King's Landing. Daenerys says she comes in peace but the three dragons she brought along don't give off that indication. I need people that I can trust on my council. I know Bran is getting married and I've no wish for you or the Lord Commander to miss it." the bull paused as he gave tyrion a look which was responded with a nod indicating to continue.
"Lady Stark, I would like you to return to King's Landing and serve the realm by sitting on my council for war strategies and the like. Do you accept?" Gendry said with a hint of hope in his voice.
It took Arya a few minutes to gather her thoughts and process them. Move to King's Landing? After already being away from home for so long? She would be the first woman on a King's council but, was Gendry offering it to her because he actually values her opinion or is it because he kissed her? It would be large risk. "Your Grace, I appreciate your proposal. I will go to my brother's wedding and if I decide to come back to King's Landing, then you have your answer." Arya finished. With that, Arya stood up and exited the council chamber.
How could she stay in the very place her kin were murdered? Arya took off running towards her chambers. Nymeria. That wolf offered more comfort and advice than any servant or Lord could ever hope too.
The now large direwolf was waiting patiently by the door where Arya told her too, "Nymeria, what am I to do?" she questioned, Sensing her mistress' discomfort, Nymeria nudged Arya and lay her head in the young girl's lap.
