A/N: Thank you to vegibee, FS'Briseis, SugarTensai, Kurayami-9, and lemon-and-chai for the reviews. They warmed the heart and I love reading them! Fuji has knocked out Sanada and we have four people (2 sadists included) locked up in a room together. This can either end really well or really badly. Enjoy the new chapter!
Chapter 12 – Confession Time
"I hit the wrong person. They are so going to pay for this!" Fuji growled as he gaped at the unconscious Sanada lying at his feet. This was not good.
"What did you do?!" Yukimura glared at the Seigaku tensai.
Opening his eyes wide, the other sadist matched the bluenette glare for glare with his own striking blue eyes, "I was trying to break Tezuka and me out of here. You just got in the way."
The bluenette took a step forward, "Seems to me that we didn't get in the way, you just tried to use a plan that only works in cartoons, comics, or the movies! Now because of you, Genichiro is injured and could possibly have a concussion."
"It was a better plan than doing nothing," Fuji retaliated. He would have stepped towards the other man, but that would have meant that he would have stepped on the teen lying on the ground.
Tezuka squeezed the bridge of his nose and idly wondered if Atobe would have been smart enough to supply them with aspirin. He was getting a headache watching the two sadists verbally attack each other, and of course being a prisoner did not help. Wondering if he could make Yamato run laps like he knew he could the others from Seigaku, he scanned the room looking for a precious bottle of pain relievers… only to find there were none in sight. He may have to resort to killing someone if his headache turned into a migraine, and decided if it came to that, he would blame Atobe for it all; actually, he would blame all of the other tennis players with the exception of Sanada since he was passed out. Yes, that did mean Yukimura and Fuji were included in that… even if they were going to be murdered. He just wasn't sure how to kill two sadists without losing his own life in the process. It was a conundrum.
Listening to the two teens arguing about reasons and fault, and he also had to wonder if they were trying to plot the other ones torture and demise, Tezuka could feel his patience slowly dwindling away until he finally shouted, "Enough! 50…" He stopped himself before he ordered the laps, but he did notice that it suddenly got quiet, almost too quiet, deathly quiet.
Fuji and Yukimura stopped before turning their scowls onto the bespectacled teen in the room. Glancing at each other through the side of their eyes briefly, they once again focused their orbs on Tezuka and noticed the former buchou didn't even flinch like most people would when faced with two known sadists. Their exploits were legendary and there were times when others thought they might be trying to beat each other in the sadistic category, but that was all just pure speculation and had no basis in truth, right?
The Seigaku tensai giggled before moving towards Tezuka, "Saa, you can't exactly order laps if we are locked in a room, and you aren't buchou any longer."
"Ne, I am a buchou and you don't even go to my school, so what makes you think you can order me to do anything?" Yukimura inquired eyes narrowing on his "boyfriend".
If it had been anyone else, he/she might have given in under the pressure of those gazes, but this was Tezuka, known for being stoic and not letting anything get to him. Internally he was shaking and cursing everyone and everything for being in the situation he was in; outwardly, he was calm and collected and didn't appear to be affected, scowl firmly in place. "We need to check Sanada and figure out a way out of this room," he stated plainly.
Both the bluenette and the tensai looked down with widened eyes. They seemed to have forgotten the raven haired teen on the ground in their bid to outdo each other. Squatting down next to the prostrate Sanada, Yukimura pulled off the black hat and checked for any major injuries. When he didn't find any besides a bump on the forehead, he ran his hands through the black locks and called out to his friend, "Genichiro." Shaking his shoulder, he heard his fukubuchou moan slightly.
Fuji watched all of this with slight awe. His boyfriend had told him that Yukimura didn't have feelings for him at all, but based on what the tensai was seeing, he would say that the bluenette very much cared for the stoic Rikkai teen. Deciding he needed to test a theory and torture Yukimura a bit, Fuji knelt down beside his boyfriend and pulled him into his lap daring the bluenette to say or do anything, "Genichiro, wake up. I'm sorry I hit you." With that said he leaned down and kissed the lump forming on Sanada's head.
Red… that was the color Yukimura was currently seeing as he watched Fuji handle Sanada (or we could also say it was green). He wanted to rip the unconscious teen away from the Seigaku player, but he also didn't want to injure his friend any more than what the tensai had already done. Glimpsing slight movement in his periphery, the bluenette looked up and saw Tezuka with his hands in fists at his side and thought, "So this is affecting him as much as it is me. This might be useful. Two could play at this game." He stood up and walked over to his pretend boyfriend wrapped himself around one of the bespectacled teen's arms, "Ne, Tezuka what do you suggest we do until they unlock the door?" If it sounded suggestive to Fuji, then Yukimura knew he hit the mark; and it appeared to the bluenette that he had indeed hit the bull's-eye.
Instinctively, Tezuka tried to extract his arm from the Rikkai buchou, but it hadn't worked and he suddenly feared for his life when he saw Fuji narrow his eyes focusing on the point of contact. Yes, he was supposed to be pretending to be dating Yukimura in order to make Fuji and Sanada jealous; however, he wasn't sure he wanted to risk life and limb for the sake of pretending, "There are letters for you and Sanada. Read them." Relief washed over him as soon as he was released from the bluenette's grasp.
With his smile firmly in place, Yukimura moved to the other side if the desk and found the two letters. He read his first and his eyes widened ever so slightly, and just because he felt he could, he also read Sanada's. His smile increased as his gaze fell on Tezuka, "What did you tell them?" The grin clearly said, "If you spilled anything, I will murder you in your sleep and they will never find the body."
A chill crept up Tezuka's spine as he shook his head and answered, "Nothing. With two data collectors, our friends, and everyone else they got involved, I assume they used deductive reasoning."
Laughing, Yukimura walked towards the bespectacled teen with the letters firmly in his hand, "Oh Tezuka, you know what happens when you assume… don't you?"
Just as Tezuka was about to answer, there was a groan heard from across the room. Focusing on the couple at the other end of the room, they could see that Sanada was coming to and was starting to sit up with Fuji's help.
Betraying his feelings for the raven haired man, the bluenette was across the room and at Sanada's side almost instantly, "Are you alright Genichiro?"
Sanada held his head in his hands. It felt like it was going to explode, but he was able to answer, "What happened?"
"Your boyfriend was nice enough to knock you out with a vase," Yukimura grinned, but his eyes were glaring at the tensai promising retribution.
"We were trying to get out," Fuji retorted.
"We?" Sanada slowly looked up and saw Tezuka pinching the bridge of his nose across the room, "Ah."
The headache was still there and growing, and the former buchou of Seigaku really wanted some pain relievers… plus he was sure Sanada would want some as well. Pulling out his cell phone, he tried to call someone, but there was no signal. Tezuka slid the phone back into his pocket and was contriving ideas that would get him on the other side of the door when the desk phone rang. Answering it, he could feel his blood pressure rise and his pain increase as soon as he heard the voice on the other end of the line, "Atobe."
"Ahn, Ore-sama knows what you are looking for and you can be relieved to know that Ore-sama is a gracious host. There is a bottle of aspirin in the top drawer on the right-hand side of the desk. Ore-sama has thought of all of your needs. If you are thirsty, there is a small refrigerator in the corner. You can thank Ore-sama later," Atobe said before he hung up the phone, laughing at what he was watching on the monitors. Oh, he wasn't the only one, the whole room was enjoying the show.
Pulling open the drawer, Tezuka indeed found a large bottle of aspirin, and grabbing the bottle plus two bottles of water from the fridge, he walked over to Sanada and handed him one bottle and two aspirin. He knew if his headache was as bad as it was, the fukubuchou's was worse.
"Arigato, Tezuka," Sanada mumbled before taking the proffered medicine.
Fuji glanced up, "I didn't think there was any meds in here."
"Atobe called and told me where to find them. Either he is using his insight to see through walls or he has this room bugged, Tezuka answered. The two sadists suddenly looked scarier than they hand since they had been locked in the room, and the stoic tennis player knew that the apocalypse might soon be upon them.
Holding his head and hoping that it would soon stop throbbing, Sanada asked, "Why are we here?"
Yukimura's smile was something to fear in that moment, "Simply put, we have people on our tennis teams that don't know how to leave things alone and would like to meddle in things they have no business in."
Sanada felt like his head was spinning as he listened to the explanation, but he couldn't quite grasp the whys of it all, "Why? What do you mean?"
"The letter explains it for the most part," Tezuka answered.
"Basically, our… and I use this term loosely at the moment, friends have decided that they need to get involved in our relationships," Fuji grinned, but that smile didn't make anyone feel better; if anything, it made Sanada and Tezuka want to prepare for the end of the world sooner rather than later.
Slowly lifting his head, Sanada focused on the one person who he hoped would bring sense and order to everything at the moment, "Tezuka?"
The stoic Seigaku player nodded knowing what the other teen was asking, "Players from Hyotei, Seigaku, Rikkai Dai, and Fuji Yuuta from St. Rudolph's have lured us here under the guise of meetings and locked the four of us in here. Letters were left explaining that we needed to work out our problems and confess to the person that we most wanted to be with. I am not sure what yours or Yukimura's says, but mine and Fuji's claim we need to confess to each other. They will not allow us to be free until we do so. It appears Atobe has the room wired. The windows are unbreakable and the only exit is the door which we came through. You were hit on the head in our attempt to break free."
"Yuuta was coerced," Fuji snapped.
Pushing up his glasses, Tezuka rolled his eyes, "Be that as it may, we are still locked in here." He wasn't about to start arguing with the sadist of Seigaku.
"I don't understand, Yukimura doesn't harbor feelings for me," Sanada claimed, and no one missed the fact that he didn't deny his feelings for the bluenette.
"We could just pretend to do what they ask," Fuji suggested. He was still examining the situation before him.
Yukimura narrowed his eyes on his rival, "I have a feeling they would know if we have or have not done what they ask. If they do let us out because we were able to fool them, they would know within days that they were duped, and then they may try another tactic… when they recover enough to perform such duties."
Tezuka nodded, "Yukimura is right. I would rather not be under Atobe's thumb more than necessary."
"Saa, that means you want everyone to confess and follow their edict?" Fuji's eyes opened up wide and his gaze held Tezuka's in a hard stare. The grin didn't fool anyone in that room.
"Hai," the bespectacled teen answered unwilling to break eye contact and lose this battle.
Standing up, the tensai crossed his arms over his chest, "And if I refuse?" Getting turned down once was more than enough for him, and so if his friend wanted him to admit anything, the former buchou would have to go first.
"Fuji…" Tezuka started.
"Fuji, tell him," Sanada ordered.
Glaring at his boyfriend, the tensai laughed, "I don't think so." Yes, he had admitted his feelings yesterday, but somehow it felt different today.
Was it just him, or did Sanada really see his life flash before his eyes? He decided he really needed to do a little more than tennis, school, and kendo. Maybe even take his nephew out for a little bit and build that bond… if he made it out of the room alive.
"Scared?" Yukimura challenged.
"I'm not the one that lied about my feelings and then staged dates that Genichiro would see," Fuji retorted.
The bluenette's eyes flashed with anger, but he smile never changed, "You assume…"
"You think so? I stole a notebook and found out a lot of information. Turns out that you staged everything because you were the one that was scared. At least I attempted to tell Tezuka the truth before he left for Germany," Fuji argued.
Sanada did the smart thing at the moment in time and moved away from the two bickering sadists to stand next to Tezuka before yelling and slamming his fist down on the desk, "Torundoru!" He really shouldn't have done that because it made his head worse and he had to sit down in the closest chair.
Silence once again engulfed the room as both the tensai and the bluenette gazed at the stoic raven haired teen. With one last glare at each other, they crossed their arms over their chests and faced the other two tennis players in the room, and inquired at the exact same time, "What?"
Briefly wondering if he should take more aspirin, Tezuka sighed, "The sooner we take care of this, the sooner we can get Sanada to the hospital." Fighting the urge to assign laps, he really hoped that Sanada would keep quiet and go along with him because if the fukubuchou said he didn't need a hospital, Tezuka feared they were in for a long night in the company of two sadists that were ready to kill each other.
"Un," Sanada grunted. He didn't really think he needed a hospital, but he didn't want to stay cooped up in a room with his boyfriend and the teen he first loved longer than he had to. He was not a masochist, and it was not something he would subject anyone to… well unless they deserved it or pissed him off, but then he might just slap them.
Fuji and Yukimura held their tongues, and their arms were still folded over their chests. It was an apparent sign that they weren't willing to divulge anything at the moment. Tezuka could understand Fuji's hesitation, and if he thought about it he could understand Yukimura's… the bluenette wanted to drag out the torture a little longer, and he didn't like his plans blowing up in his face. Believing that Sanada was basically in the same category as Fuji, there was only one possible choice for who went first; and unfortunately it was Tezuka. Clearing his throat, the bespectacled teen spilled his guts, "The relationship between Yukimura and myself was a lie in order to make you two jealous."
"Tezuka," Yukimura's voice was filled with warning.
The stoic former buchou knew what his "boyfriend" was saying, but he really didn't care. Tezuka wanted to get this taken care of and he wanted everything to end; and if he died doing it, well at least Fuji would know the truth… he hoped. Additionally, he felt if he survived three years of Fuji, he could survive a little longer in the same room with Yukimura; maybe, Fuji would protect him… maybe. Turning his eyes so that he was solely focused on the tensai, he continued, "I had feelings for you then and came back for you. I just didn't think it was fair to you for me to leave for Germany and leave you here with a long distance relationship."
Heart racing, Fuji listened to everything Tezuka was saying and although the other teen admitted his feelings the day before through a little bit of force, it was the first time the tensai was hearing the words voluntarily. Did this mean that Tezuka actually wanted him though? Admitting he had feelings was different from saying he wanted a relationship.
"I knew when you returned that it was only a matter of time," Sanada mumbled and turned to Fuji, "We should stop dating."
"Genichiro…" Fuji was at a loss as to what to say at the moment, and instead of forcing words upon his now ex-boyfriend, he looked to his side and glared at Yukimura, "Well?"
The bluenette smiled an "I will kill you later" smile and asked, "Well what?"
"I think it only fair that the people who did the wrong go first," Fuji smiled his glare never wavering.
Yukimura tilted his head to the side and snickered, "I have no idea what you are talking about. I really don't have to listen to you or anyone else."
Shaking his head, Sanada felt defeated when he stated softly, "I knew it wasn't true."
It was in that moment Yukimura saw how much he had hurt his friend. He wasn't sure if he had been meant to hear those words, but he did. This was not the countenance of the Sanada Genichiro he had known for years, and the bluenette did not like it, "Wait, the letter was right and Tezuka was telling the truth about us. Fuji was also right, as loath as I am to admit that."
The raven haired teen's head shot up and then fell back down clutched in his hands. Maybe a hospital wasn't such a bad idea. He felt a hand on his shoulder and risked a small peek. Unable to see the face, he still knew who was before him: Yukimura.
"I had feelings for you as well, but didn't want to risk our friendship," the bluenette said quietly. Then he yelled out, "Atobe, if you don't open the door right now, I will curse you with yips and you will never be able to play tennis. If you think I can only use it on the courts, go ahead and test the theory."
Atobe watched the screen and listened to the threat. He didn't want to admit it, but the look on Yukimura's face at that moment and the words spoke made him afraid… very afraid. Did he risk it, or did he open the door. Well, he wasn't stupid, he glanced at Shishido and Choutarou, "Take the keys and let them out. You might want to take Yuuta and Kikumaru with you to control Fuji." No, he wasn't brave enough to let his rivals out himself, so he was going to send the sacrificial lambs so to speak.
Shishido was bristling, "NO!"
Narrowing his eyes on his tennis player, Atobe grinned, "Ahn, but you don't have a choice. Ore-sama demands you do it if you want to play tennis." Yes, it was a dirty threat, and one he probably wouldn't follow through with, but he wasn't going to leave his safe room. He was brave and strong, but not stupid.
"Nya, me? Fujiko is going to kill me too," Eiji shouted terrified of his best friend at the moment.
"Ahn, are you scared?" Atobe asked the redhead.
Eiji didn't hesitate to answer, "YES!"
Gakuto laughed, "I knew you were chicken. He can't be that scary. I will go down and nothing will happen."
Blinking, Eiji contemplated momentarily the challenge delivered by his arch nemesis. Did he take the dare, or did he stay safely locked away elsewhere in the large house? Grinning widely, he looked at the other acrobatic player, "Okay, have fun!"
That wasn't what was supposed to happen. The Seigaku acrobat was supposed to take the bait and go with Shishido and Choutarou, but he wasn't about to back down now. Grabbing Oshitari, he grumbled, "Come on Yuushi!"
Yuuta stood up and followed the pair from Hyotei, "Someone might want to call my nee-san and let her know that I was murdered by my own aniki. I don't care if he thinks I was coerced; he is still going to torture me."
"Shishido-san, is it safe?" Choutarou questioned. This seemed like a suicide mission to him. Two sadists and two stoic powerful men locked up together, and they were going to be out for heads… well it didn't seem like the best job to have.
"Don't worry; we will let them out and run like hell. With my speed and your long legs, we should be able to get away before they can catch us, and if anything happens to you, I will take care of them," Shishido tried to sound encouraging, but even he knew this was a death sentence. He had watched a program about crab fishermen, and he felt that job was safer than what they were about to do.
Slowly the small group of six tennis players (and none of them were the people who concocted this whole scheme) made their way down to where their prisoners were trapped. Shishido pulled out the key and unlocked the door before grabbing the other half of the silver pair and running away as fast as possible leaving the others to deal with the sadists. Honestly, if it had just been Tezuka and Sanada, the fear would be greatly diminished. They would probably be slapped and that would be the end of it, but add Fuji and Yukimura into the mix and they were all dead men walking.
Gakuto stayed to prove he was better than Eiji. Eiji stayed to best Gakuto. Oshitari wasn't able to break the hold his friend had on him; and Yuuta was pushed to the front of the crowd unable to get away.
The four tennis players inside the room heard the lock turn and knew they were free to go. Yukimura helped Sanada to his feet and Tezuka helped him, and that left Fuji to deal with the door. Opening it, his eyes first set upon his brother and then he noticed the people standing behind Yuuta and his blue eyes flashed with anger causing everyone to yell and clutch the person closest to them. Unfortunately that meant Eiji held his enemy who was holding the Hyotei tensai, who would admit that he was a little wary of the Seigaku tensai.
Grabbing his brother, Fuji growled, "We need to get Sanada to the hospital. Yuuta, you are coming with me. You don't need to be around bad influences any longer. Eiji, I will be calling you later." The yelp coming from his best friend made his smile grow, "And tell Atobe, Yukimura and I will be paying him a visit another day. He can't hide forever." He pulled his brother to the door and opened it for the other three players.
"Aniki, they didn't…" Yuuta tried to explain.
"Don't worry Yuuta, they won't be able to corrupt you again," Fuji told him.
"But aniki…"
"Ne, Yuuta, did you know that there are poisonous cacti?"
Yuuta knew when to shut up and now was a good time for him to exercise the right to be quiet. If his brother was bringing something like that up, he wasn't going to say a word and he wasn't going to defend the others. He had his own life to think of after all.
"Did he just say…?" Gakuto squeaked before he collapsed onto the floor.
"Ha! I win!" Eiji shouted celebrating the fact that he was still standing, and then it hit him what his best friend said and he knew he was in for it later. He didn't collapse because he was stronger than the other redhead, but he did need to lean against the wall for support.
Back in the monitor room, the remaining players sweat dropped and had the same thought… they all wondered if there was a school in another country they could transfer to overnight. They may need the distance to remain above ground instead of six feet under.
