A/N: I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I put my computer away for a bit and hung out with the family and now that the holiday has passed, it is time to get to writing again. Don't you just feel sorry for the tennis players that decided to help Inui and Yanagi? Enjoy the chapter!
Chapter 14 – Revenge is Inevitable
Two sadists, two stoic teens who were still waiting to see if they could win the person they wanted to be with, and sixteen tennis players who were now on the two sadists most wanted list. Everyone involved in the situation fell into one of these three categories and if the unfortunate person was in group three… well there were still a lot of questions about his future: did he have one or not.
Yukimura took Sanada home and realizing that the stoics teen's parents weren't home, helped his fukubuchou to bed. Part of him wanted to stay and take care of him, to make sure that he was truly alright, but the bluenette did nothing more than to run one of his hands over the other teen's cheeks and then straightened up and left the raven haired tennis player to sleep. Yukimura had other things that needed to be done, plots that needed to be hatched, and schemes that needed discussing; and there was only one person he needed to talk to at the moment: Fuji. There would be time enough for him and Sanada after they were done with the others (everyone in group three felt a chill in that one moment of time).
In another home in Japan, another teen had a dilemma… how was he supposed to prove to Fuji that he had feelings for him? Sure there were ways to do it: sky writing, a love poem, using a megaphone and declaring it to the entire school, etc. None of these were Tezuka and would be so out of character, he wasn't sure they would get the point across, and the chance that someone would laugh at him… well taking Inui's line, it would be 99.99%. He just wasn't sure what to do, and there was another problem as well; he and Sanada had just set up several of their friends while they were standing in a hospital. "Maybe we should have warned the hospital to expect an influx of patients," he muttered to himself as he stared down at a piece of paper he had been writing his ideas down on. Each one of them had a line through it as he decided against using the idea as soon as he scribbled it down. Hell was about to be unleased on Tokyo and Tezuka wasn't sure what to do about that or how to win Fuji. Maybe he should have just stayed in Germany, then two monsters might not be trying to team up and plot together; and then he wondered if this is what the citizens felt like whenever Godzilla showed up. It had to be similar.
Sanada's head was pounding and he didn't want to move, let alone answer the ringing of the cell phone next to his bed. He remembered that Yukimura had left it there just in case he needed to call someone or someone called him, and right now that shrill ringtone was sending his head into a frenzy and he just wanted it to go away. Could he torundoru a phone? He could, but his parents would probably be disappointed if he did that because it would probably result in a broken phone. That was one lecture he wanted to avoid right now. Instead, he covered his head with a pillow and hoped that the ringing would stop… he needed it to stop.
Picking up his phone and calling his only ally had been a spur of the moment thing, and Tezuka waited until Sanada picked up, but no one answered and it eventually went to voicemail. He had been thinking that maybe they should attempt to stop the two sadists, and maybe they were the only ones that could, but if he couldn't get the fukubuchou to answer the phone, then he couldn't discuss the problem with him. Then again, did he really want to attempt to come between two hunters and their prey; he might become a victim too.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Tezuka threw down his glasses. This was a conundrum. On one hand he and three other people had been basically held prisoner and left to the mercy and whims of others. On the other hand, if it hadn't been for that, the confessions might have remained behind closed lips and Fuji might still be with Sanada. However, as wrong as the others were, did they deserve to have both Fuji and Yukimura plotting against them? The bespectacled teen picked up his glasses and walked out of his bedroom. He needed to light some incense and say some prayers because he had a feeling they just unleased something worse than Godzilla on Tokyo.
At the Fuji home, the occupants had just finished eating dinner and the eldest son asked his younger sibling to come up to his room for a moment before he left to return to the school dorms. Yuuta had a sense of foreboding as he followed his brother up the stairs and wondered what awaited him in his brother's bedroom.
Fuji smile widened a little as his brother agreed to follow him. He could see the slight fear and anxiety in Yuuta's eyes, and there was a slight hesitation before the other teen agreed… and really there was no other choice for his younger sibling, but Yuuta didn't need to know that just yet. The youngest Fuji had information, and if they were going to be the most effective in their revenge, the two sadists needed that information; and if the middle school third year was going to be late for dorm check, well it wasn't as if he couldn't stay home for one night, right?
"Oi, aniki, what did you need?" Yuuta inquired in an irritated voice. He wanted to leave and get back to the safety of his dorm as quickly as possible. It wasn't that he didn't trust his brother… ok he didn't; however, he didn't think his brother would do anything to him. Crossing his fingers behind his back so that the other teen couldn't see them, he said a little prayer.
Turning around Fuji Syusuke smiled brilliantly and started his interrogation, "Ne, Yuuta, who all was involved in today's imprisonment?"
Yuuta sweat dropped and his stomach did a flip, "Oh uh, aniki…" Scratching the back of his head, he tried to come up with a way to get out of this trap, but how to do it? Nothing was coming to him.
"Well, actually, I know most of the people, but who organized it? Was it Inui and Yanagi like Yukimura believes? Was Atobe in charge today? It was his house we were locked in, and even if it wasn't his initial idea, he has a way of taking everything over."
The only thing missing from this scene was a pair of handcuffs, a bright light, and everything being in black and white. If all of that were to suddenly appear, Yuuta might think he was in an old American crime drama. The other thing that came to mind for the youngest sibling was that Fuji seemed to be set on Atobe being in charge; he even brought up the Hyotei buchou's name at the hospital. Did his brother have something against the captain of the rival school? "Ah aniki, I need to go so that I can get back to school on time," Yuuta said as he started to inch out of his sibling's bedroom, but he never made it. Before he could reach the door it slammed shut and spun around to face his brother, "Aniki?" He had never been so scared in his life. What was his brother doing?
"Ne Yuuta, don't you think spending the night at home would be okay just this once? I am sure mom and nee-san would love it and it would give you and I a chance to spend some quality time together, and you can tell me everything that happened with our wonderful friends today. Doesn't that sound like a good idea?"
Yuuta didn't think it sounded like a good idea at all; in fact, it sounded more like torture. The others might have believed he was safe, but in all actuality, no one was safe when a sadist had a target in his sights, "Aniki, tomorrow is school."
"And I will make sure you are up in time to attend morning practice. If you need a ride, I am sure nee-san would be more than happy to take you to school."
"Ah well you see, I have to finish some homework…" Yuuta stopped when he saw a flash of something in his brother's eyes.
"So they dragged you into this and didn't allow you to finish your homework?" The elder brother asked.
Eyes widening, Yuuta shook his head, "No aniki…" The homework had been a ploy to try and escape, but apparently that had backfired and put the others in even more jeopardy.
Syusuke giggled and ruffled his brother's hair, "Saa, I'll tell you what Yuuta... I will write a note to your teachers explaining exactly what happened so that you cannot be held accountable. Just give me the names I want." His blue eyes opened wide and he gave his younger brother a piercing stare.
There was no choice. Yuuta had no other option available to him except to lie and he already knew his brother would see right through that, "Inui called me and I think he was working with Yanagi. We met at Atobe's house because Inui asked for his help. We all met yesterday to come up with a plan to try to get you with Tezuka and Sanada with Yukimura because we all knew that you would have been happier with Tezuka, and it appeared Sanada would have been happier with Yukimura." Guts spilled, he backed towards the door in the hopes of escaping his brother, rival, nemesis, whatever you wanted to call Fuji Syusuke. He was saved from further questioning by the ringing of the other teen's cell phone. "It must be Yukimura," Yuuta mumbled under his breath. His brother was smiling and mentioned expecting the call. Not caring if it was rude or not, the younger Fuji ran to the door and ripped it open, running down the stairs as fast as possible. He paused long enough to yell a goodbye to his mother and sister before grabbing his bag and racing out the door. He was not going to stay in that house a moment longer, especially not if his sadistic brother was going to be plotting revenge with Yukimura. That was just wrong on so many levels. He really hoped the others had a bunker or something they could hide out in because the apocalypse was coming.
Fuji looked up when he heard his bedroom door slam shut and found an empty space where his brother had been standing only moments ago. Well, it looked like his brother got away today, but he had what he needed, "Saa, Yukimura, I have a few ideas about what we can do."
"I do as well. Ne, were you able to find out whom the ringleaders were? I thought we could start with them and then pick off the underlings one by one… or two by two," the bluenette giggled.
"Hm, I was. It turns out you were right. Inui and Yanagi were the main contributors, but Atobe got involved and it appears he became a key player in a meeting they had yesterday."
"So they were able to do all of this in a day. I shouldn't be surprised. When Atobe gets involved, anything can happen with only a moment's notice."
"Saa, that would be correct. We need to be sure to include him as a ringleader since it was his house. He had monitors and microphones set up in the room so he could hear everything we said and watched everything we did."
Snickering, Yukimura remarked, "Ne, he sounds like a voyeur, doesn't he?"
"He does. It is a miracle Tezuka was able to escape."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Nothing. So what are your ideas?" Fuji smiled and attempted to get the bluenette back on track. There were reasons why the tensai had a personal grudge against Atobe, and he would make sure the Hyotei buchou knew better than to do such things again. He spent the next hour discussing schemes and plots with the Rikkai Dai buchou before hanging up. Soon he and Yukimura would attack and their victims would probably never see them coming… even if they were looking for the two sadists.
Across town at a mansion, Atobe got another chill and sneezed. He had been sneezing a lot tonight. Something told him he was either getting sick or he needed to prepare to meet the grim reaper… neither one sounded promising. Why did he ever agree to help Inui in the first place? This really was leading to nothing but trouble, and now he had to deal with not one, but two different sadists. He must have been drugged or had a moment of stupidity when he decided to get involved. Oh wait it was because Inui knew to use Tezuka as a bargaining chip. Sighing, Atobe knew there was no hope for it and would do what he could to counter the two sadists. If nothing else, he had a passport and could go to school anywhere in the world.
Inui and Yanagi were on the phone and both of them felt the chill of retribution seep into their very bones. Both of them had known that getting involved could lead to their demise, but they still had to do their part… plus it had yielded some valuable data that would not have been retrieved otherwise. For example, when feeling in danger, Shishido can run 3.4 seconds faster than his fastest time recorded and that is still when he is dragging his silver headed partner behind him. The two acrobatic players still want to best each other, and no matter how much Kikumaru says he will not go downstairs to face his friend, he refuses to let Gakuto get the better of him and still follows. Everything is a competition between those two. Marui's bubbles are 11% bigger when he is scared than when he is on the tennis courts. Very valuable data indeed.
"Sadaharu, we need to placate Yukimura and Fuji," Yanagi stated to his friend and conspirator.
"I agree. Do you have any ideas?" Inui questioned.
Shaking his head, the data player from Rikkai grumbled, "Not as of yet, but I will analyze the data and let you know."
"I will do the same. Let's reconvene tomorrow after practice and we will decide what to do."
"Excellent. I will talk to you tomorrow then. Sayonara."
"Sayonara, Renji," Inui said and hit the end button before setting his phone down. Opening one of his notebooks, he didn't believe there was anything they could do to calm the raging beasts inside two different sadists, "Likelihood of being killed: 84%. Likelihood of being injured: 99.8%. Likelihood they will seek revenge: 100%." They were doomed.
