The two men who walked into the library that afternoon had the strange distinction of looking nearly identical, yet still being incredibly easy to tell apart.

One of them had gold eyes and shaggy hair that had once been dyed black. Yet he obviously hadn't bothered to care for it in a long time, since it was long enough to be tied back in a ponytail, and there were several inches of brown roots. His skin was marked with tattoos and there were several empty piercing holes in his flesh, though he currently only wore a pair of gold studs and a tiny ring in his ears. He was dressed in stained work clothes and only responded to the circulation attendant's cheerful greeting with a silent, tired wave.

His blue-eyed brother, on the other hand, was as bright and fresh-faced as a child. Sora waved cheerfully at the attendant and signed "I'm happy to see you!" at her.

"It's been a while, Sora! Did you come to look for some movies?"

"Me and Brother came to the library!"

"Go give them the paper," Van said, shoving Sora toward the reference librarian's desk. "I'll be here at the computers."

"I'm gonna get a movie!"

"I know. Go."

Sora went over to the librarian. "I came to get a movie!"

"Hello, Sora! I'm so sorry, Ms. Darrin isn't here today," she said, referencing the librarian who knew sign language. "But is there anything I can help you with?"

"I want the snow movie!"

"Did you write down what you want, Sora?"

He stared at her.

She smiled and said again, "Do you have a paper, Sora? Maybe in your pocket?"

He dug through his pockets, then his face lit up when his fingers touched the note that Van had written for him back at the apartment. Beaming, he fished it out and offered the paper to the librarian with both hands.

"Hmm, let's see, here," she said, accepting it and putting on her reading glasses. "Frozen? Is that the movie you want, Sora?"

"Snow movie! Anna and Elsa and reindeer!"

"Let's see if we've got it here at this branch..." She typed on her computer for a minute. "Oh, well, what do you know! Come with me, Sora, let's go see if it's on the shelf like the computer says it is."

Once Sora had the video in his hands, he bounded over to his brother and shoved at his shoulder, rougher than usual in his eagerness.

"Geez, Sora, just tap me! Gentle!"

Sora sheepishly tapped his shoulder.

"So you got it?" Van glanced at the video, then dug out his wallet and tried to hand his library card over to Sora.

"I found the snow movie! We'll watch it when we get home!"

"Take the card and get lost, Sora. I'm trying to concentrate. -Ow! Don't hug me!"

Sora went to check out the video, then came back and hugged his brother again. Van shoved him off. Sora made so much noise fidgeting and tapping at the video cover that Van banished him again. The children's librarian, seeing Sora wandering around glumly, found some picture books for him to look at. Sora happily brought them back to his brother.

"No, Sora, I'm not gonna read to you. I'm busy."

"The bad man is going to catch the puppy!"

"I don't care. I'm BUSY."

Sora pouted for a minute. When Van ignored him, he gave up and sat down on the floor by his brother's feet, holding the book close to his face so he could start deciphering the words on his own.

A little later, Van finally finished and submitted his application, closed the browser, and leaned back in his chair with a sigh. Sora looked up at him curiously. Van gazed back at him with sadness and only a flicker of hope. "Wish me luck, bro," he said softly. Sora took hold of his hands and squeezed them. "Hey, you wanna e-mail your friends or something?"

Sora's face lit up. "Friends!"

"Here." Van got up to allow Sora to sit in front of the computer, then dragged over a chair so he could sit next to him. Sora was still staring blankly at the computer screen, then stared in mild distress at his brother. "Come on. You know what to do."

"Help!"

"You don't need help, Sora. What do you do first?"

"...Hello, Riku?"

Van rolled his eyes. "The Internet, Sora. Open the Internet. That icon there, come on."

Sora warily clicked on it, then gasped in excitement when the browser opened, as if he hadn't expected it to.

"What next?"

"?"

"Your notebook, Sora. Get your notebook."

Comprehension dawned on Sora's face. He dug through his pockets again until he found the little notebook where Van had started writing important things for him to remember. He began paging through it with some trouble.

Van would ordinarily have let him take his time, but they didn't have much to spare at the moment; so he took the notebook out of Sora's hands, flipped to the right page, and handed it back. "What do you type?"

Frowning in concentration, Sora slowly typed in the URL that was written on the page, and smiled again when the Web site came up. This time, he didn't need to ask his brother, and was more confident when he copied the username and password.

"Hurry, Sora," Van said once he had logged in. "The computer's gonna kick us out in a few minutes."

riku hi best fens. boter in libaryy. can i com to yu hoos. sora fein

"He can't even read that..." Van leaned over and typed, "riku its van and sora. we're at the library and he wants to say hi." "Okay, send it."

"Riku!" Sora happily clicked the Send button, then started a new message.

kairi i am at libary wach snow movy. see yuo on turzday noveber 24 2023. sora

this is van. tell your mom i'll bring sora to thanksgiving

When the screen automatically returned to the inbox after the message was sent, a new e-mail had already appeared from Riku.

Sora started moving the cursor toward the Log Out button.

"Sora, Riku e-mailed you back."

"Riku?!"

"Click on the message, dummy."

Sora stared.

"The new one. The one in black- bold, whatever." Van finally just reached over and clicked it himself.

Sora come to my house I'm home.

"Riku!"

"Yeah, fine, we'll stop by there tonight." Van sighed and added silently, after furtively glancing around, "We can stay and watch the snow movie with Riku if you want. We can pick up Kairi and Xion on the way, if they want to come with us."

"I love you! I love you! I love-!"

"SHUT UP."

Author's Notes: Sorry, yet more VanSo (and Frozen). ^^; I really need to stop drafting random stuff and focus on more important things...

Again, I might need to adjust some things, like the date, if/when I make a timeline for this universe.
