Marley and I began to walk to class together. Mr. Schue had a big announcement that he was telling us after school.

"So what are your goals with music?" I asked Marley.

"I want to be on the radio." Marley responded.

"Well you'd be a lot better than some of the crap that's on there now." I stated.

"What do you mean?" She inquired.

"Well simply put, Katy Perry cannot sing, Lady Gaga can sing as well as Adele but chooses to mask her vocal ability with gimmicks. I like her better when she's just at the piano." I explained. "And don't get me started on Rihanna. She has a new song out every two months for the past 8 years. She released a new song called 'Where Have You Been?'. I know where she's been because she won't go away."

"So are you saying that you don't like anything on the radio?" Marley asked.

"No, I'm not." I answered. "I love the more indie vibe that it's taking and I don't hate everything by those artists. I liked 'Umbrella' when Jay Z wasn't on it and I liked 'We Found Love', 'You and I' and also 'Edge of Glory'."

"So would you and Sam be interested in going on a double date with me and Jake some time?" She questioned. "I mean Jake hasn't asked me out or anything, but would you?"

"I'd have to talk to Sam about it, but I imagine he'd be cool with it." I stated.

"What would be cool with?" Sam asked as he gave me a hug.

"A double date, there's nothing set in stone though." I told him, holding his hand.

"Yeah, I'd be cool with that." Sam replied. "Well I need to head to Math. I will see you at lunch."

I gave him a kiss before he walked off.

"You two are adorable." Marley told me.

"Shut up." I responded.

Later in the day as I was walking to one my classes, I ended up being run into by some coming out of the men's room. It didn't cause me to drop anything or fall over, just a minor nuisance. I noticed that he was staring at me.

"Hello…" I responded. He didn't respond. "Should I take you to the nurse to see if you have a concussion."

"No, sorry, it's just that you're so pretty. I had to take it in." He told me.

"You think I'm pretty?" I asked in surprise. Most guys don't say that I'm pretty. I then remembered. "I have a boyfriend."

"I didn't mean anything like that." He replied as he held his hand out. "I'm Ryder."

"Charlie." I responded, shaking his hand. "Well I need to get to class."

"I hope I'll see you around some time." He replied. I smiled as I walked away.

"What are you smiling about Raccoon Eyes?" Some random jock asked me. Yeah, I still don't like any jocks but Sam. I headed to meet him at lunch.

After school in Glee, we noticed that Artie and for some reason Finn were in the center of the room.

"So we've decided on the school musical. It's going to be Grease and Artie and Finn are going to be co-directing it." Mr. Schue declared. "I expect all of you to audition."

"Isn't it usually the Theatre Department that does the musical?" I asked. "We do have a Theatre Department, don't we?"

"It's kind of something that we do." Blaine explained. Great I had to audition for a play.

I decided to just get it over with. I hope that the play wouldn't be mandatory.

"I want to say, I'm not going to change my makeup for this." I told Artie and Finn before I began to sing.

Storms are coming, rain is pouring
Clouds are hanging over me
It's like I don't know anything

I'm a loser in a losing game
Trampled over old movie scenes
Why's it always happening to me?

I'm patching up my heart again every time it explodes
Don't tell me that I'm gone insane, I know

Cause every single day was like whoa
Wondering if you'd ever come back to me
So what made everything hard?
You that it was really love actually
Can I get some sympathy whoa
Cause losing you is making a mess of me
So what if you ended up gone
You know that it was really love actually
Love actually

I'm patching up my heart again, every time it explodes
And even though you try to save all I know is this
Oh, I've got too much love to give

Cause every single day was like whoa
Wondering if you'd ever come back to me
So what made everything hard?
You that it was really love actually
Can I get some sympathy whoa
Cause losing you is making a mess of me
So what if you ended up gone
You know that it was really love actually
Love actually

"That was great, Charlie." Finn told me. "What song is that?"

"It's called 'Love Actually' by Cady Groves." I explained. "Can I go now?"

I knew that Sam was going to be auditioning after practice, so I would be back. I really hoped that we weren't going to be playing the leads because I didn't want our romance to be trivialized on stage. Though, I seriously doubt that there would be a Goth lead to a play set in the 50s.

After an hour, I went back saying that Sam wouldn't be auditioning today. I was about to leave before I heard singing.

And I walk these streets with a six-string on my back
I play for keeps, cause I might not make it back
I've been everywhere and still I'm standing tall
I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all

Cause I'm a cowboy on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted (
Wanted) dead or alive
I'm a cowboy I've got the night on my side
I'm wanted
(Wanted) dead or alive

"Sorry I just had to harmonize." I apologized as I noticed Ryder and Finn looking at me.

"No that sounded really good." Finn remarked. "You two sounded really good together. In fact I would say that you two are the front runners for the leads."

"You did hear me before when I said that I wasn't changing my face, right?" I asked.

"I actually like the idea not using a typical ingénue." Artie declared. "I mean making Sandy inhumanly beautiful just makes her a Mary Sue, which is something that you should never ever do."

I didn't know what he meant by Mary Sue.

"What's a Mary Sue?" Ryder asked.

"A Mary Sue is a character that is perfect. Everyone likes them except for the antagonists, they have no known major flaws and they're able to do anything with little to know effort. The term comes the Star Trek fan script A Trekkie's Tale, which was actually a parody of said characters." Artie explained.

"How about you two just sing something together?" Finn asked.

"Do you know 'Barton Hollow'?" I asked Ryder. He nodded. I was a little surprised by that. He began to sing

I'm a dead man walking here
That's the least of all my fears
Underneath the water

It's not Alabama clay
Gives my trembling hands away
Please forgive me father

Aint going back to Barton Hollow
Devil gonna find me e'er I go
Won't do me no good washing in the river
Can't no preacher man save my soul

Miles and miles in my bare feet
Still can't lay me down to sleep
If I die before I wake
I know the lord my soul won't take

I'm a dead man walking
I'm a dead man walking

Aint going back to Barton Hollow
Devil gonna find me e'er I go
Won't do me no good washing in the river
Can't no preacher man save my soul

"Well that was dark." Artie commented.

"I'm a dark person, deal with it." I replied.

I then went out to the parking lot to meet Sam.

"What took so long?" He asked.

"I went to meet you in the gym and then I heard 'Wanted Dead or Alive' and had to join in." I explained. "Anyway that got me drafted to sing a duet with this guy Ryder. Finn and Artie apparently want us to play the leads."

"Ryder Lynn?" Sam asked.

"You know him?" I responded.

"Yeah, he plays wide receiver. He's better at touchdown dancing than catching the ball." He explained. "He's not into you or anything, is he?"

"Well he did tell me that I'm pretty, but he knows that I have a boyfriend and I'm happy with you now." I responded. "You have absolutely nothing to worry about."

"Maybe I should try out for Danny Zuko." Sam replied.

"No, I don't want that." I responded. "You don't need to feel insecure about this and I don't want to trivialize our relationship. Also you audition for a play, not try out."

The next day, I was in the audience as Marley prepared for her audition. I noticed some familiar chords were playing and smiled.

It's been a long time since I came around
It's been a long time but I'm back in town
This time I'm not leaving without you

You taste whiskey when kiss me, oh
I'd give anything again to be your babydoll
This time I'm not leaving without you

He said "Sit back down where you belong
In the corner of my bar with your high heels on
Sit back down the couch where made love the first time
And you said to me"

Something, something about this place
Something 'bout lonely nights
And my lipstick on your face
Something, something about my cool Nebraska guy
Yeah something about baby you and I

You and I
You, you and I
You, you and I
You, you and I, I
You, you and I
You, you and I

This time I'm not leaving without you

I got up and clapped to that.

"That was amazing." I declared. I would not be upset if she got the lead role. Her audition was probably better than mine.

"You're auditioning for Frenchie?" Artie asked. We could choose who we auditioned for?

"I wanted to give Charlie a chance to star." Marley replied. I guess I was okay with that.

"I'd be okay with you having the lead role." I responded. "It fits you better."

And I didn't really want the lead role.

"Well how about you bitches shut up and let me have the lead role?" Kitty suggested.

"Who are you?" Finn asked.

"I'm Kitty Wilde and I am auditioning for the role of Sandy." The girl that goes good with milk said…I am glad that I did not just say that aloud.

La-la-la

Hey boy you never had much game
So I needed to upgrade
So I went and walked away, way, way
Now I see you've been hanging out
With that other girl in town
Looking like a pair of clowns, clowns, clowns

Remember all the things that you and I did first
And now you're doing them with her
Remember all the things that you and I did first
You got me got me like this
And now you're taking her to every restaurant
And everywhere we went come on
And now you're taking her to every restaurant
You got me got me like this

Boy you can say anything you wanna
I don't give a ...no one else can have ya
I want you back I want you back
Want you want you back
I broke it off thinking you'd be crying
Now I feel like...looking at you flying
I want you back I want you back
Want you want you back

Please this aint jealousy
She aint got nothing on me
Trying to rock them ugly jeans, jeans, jeans
You clearly didn't think this through
If what I've been told is true
You'll be crawling back like glue, glue, glue

Remember all the things that you and I did first
And now you're doing them with her
Remember all the things that you and I did first
You got me got me like this
And now you're taking her to every restaurant
And everywhere we went come on
And now you're taking her to every restaurant
You got me got me like this

Boy you can say anything you wanna
I don't give a ...no one else can have ya
I want you back I want you back
Want you want you back
I broke it off thinking you'd be crying
Now I feel like...looking at you flying
I want you back I want you back
Want you want you back

Yeah that song fit her perfectly. I like that song but the protagonist is clearly a bitch. The only difference is Cher Lloyd is not a bitch in real life. I also couldn't help but think that she was singing about Jake and Marley. I'm pretty sure that they're not together, but she does think that Marley is the reason that they broke up, so I guess that isn't surprising. She's needs a reality check.

I then saw singing. He picked a song that I didn't know, but he sang it well. He was not auditioning for Danny, so I guess that was what mattered.

I'll admit that the play was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The music sucked, but I was never big on it. They ended up making a few rewrites to justify me being Sandy. I hope John Travolta or whoever wrote the play wasn't going to find out and sue us for that. Could they even do that?

After the show was over, I went to my dressing room, which was really just the choir room. I went inside and there was a girl with blonde hair.

"You were great out there." She declared. I tried to figure out who she was. "You know I always wanted a younger sister. I wish that I knew that I had one."

"Quinn?" I asked in surprise. I was at a bit of a loss for words "How did you…who…what?"

"Finn told me about you." She explained. "I didn't think I would get a reason to hate our father even more."

I went over and gave her an awkward hug. Maybe with some luck, it would get less awkward in the future.

So it's not only the first appearance of Ryder, but also QUINN! Plus there was Goth Sandy, even though Goth didn't exist in the 50s. Please don't forget to review.
