I was with Quinn in the auditorium. She was home for Thanksgiving. We prepared to sing. Quinn started off.
If you think you're gonna hear how much I miss you
If you're needing to feel better 'bout yourself
If you're wanting to hear me say I forgive you
Cause tequila turned you into someone else
If you're looking for one more chance
A little 'Stand by Your Man'
You've got the wrong song coming through your speakers
This one's about a liar and a cheater
Who didn't know what he had till it was gone
You got the wrong cause I got your number
Don't what you what kind of spell you think I'm under
This aint no feel good 'everything's fine' sing-along
You got the wrong song
Tell me boy, was she worth every minute?
I hope you the time of your life
You made your bed, now go lie in it
All I got to say to you is goodbye
How you'd thinking I'd react
Singing 'Baby Come Back'?
You've got the wrong song coming through your speakers
This one's about a liar and a cheater
Who didn't know what he had till it was gone
You got the wrong cause I got your number
Don't what you what kind of spell you think I'm under
This aint no feel good 'everything's fine' sing-along
You got the wrong song
"That was so much better than doing it over the phone." I commented.
"I didn't think that someone like you would like Nashville." She admitted.
"Sam got me into it." I told her.
"Nothing says Thanksgiving like a family duet." This Asian guy named Mike said. Pretty much all of the members of the Glee Club who graduated were here except for Blaine's ex Kurt and Finn's ex Rachel.
"I couldn't miss my little sister in Sectionals." Quinn remarked. She looked to Puck. "Thanks for telling me about her."
The night day in Glee, Finn had all of them in front of the class.
"So do you that standing before you are legends?" He asked. That was probably overselling it. "Any single one of these guys could be President of the United States one day."
Why would anyone want that? Being president is one of the worst jobs you can have.
"And lucky for us, they've agreed to help us." Finn continued.
"And hang with the new chumps." Puck added. "See if some of our sheer awesomeness doesn't rub off on you."
"When you hear your name, pair up." Finn declared. "Puck and Quinn, I feel like I don't need to say this. Mercedes is with Marley, Santana is with Kitty, and Mike is with Ryder. Now your mentors are here to help you with whatever you need: singing, dancing…"
"Birth control." Quinn quipped. I blushed.
"The worst thing that we can do is underestimate our competition." Finn declared. "The Warblers this year are ruthless. I have our performance planned out. We're going to start with a group number with the hottest new song 'Gangnam Style'."
Oh god.
"Then we'll have Charlie sing a ballad." Finn replied. Oh, I wasn't expecting that. "Finally we'll have a group number led by Marley and Blaine."
"Is there any way Mr. Schue can come back for this?" Joe asked. I think we were all thinking that.
After the period was over, I decided to ask an important question to Finn.
"Which ballad am I supposed to sing?" I asked.
"It can be any song that you want as long as it was a recent top 10 hit." Finn answered. That would be challenging because I hated a lot of the recent hits. I would need advice on this.
Quinn and I ended up going to the Lima Bean together. I didn't like coffee, but I did like their smoothies.
"So I have no idea which ballad I am going to sing." I told my sister.
"What if you sing 'Skyfall'?" She suggested.
"I don't know. I don't really like James Bond. Plus it doesn't really go with the theme." I replied.
"Well I'm sure that you can find something that you like." She told me. "I remember the first time that I had to sing at Sectionals. I was doing a duet with Sam."
"It's not weird that I'm dating your ex is it?" I asked.
"No, I just hope you treat him better than I did." Quinn remarked. "I made a lot of mistakes when I was in high school."
"So are you dating anyone right now?" I questioned.
"As a matter of fact, I am having an affair with one of my professors." She remarked.
"I know you probably don't want my opinion on that, but I think that is a terrible idea and that you should probably end it." I suggested.
"I'm going to be careful." She replied.
When I got home, I decided to look through songs that peaked in top 10 recently. I noticed one that I wasn't that familiar with. I decided to listen to it and it was pretty good. After listening a few times, I was pretty sure that I had all of the lyrics down. I prepared to sing it in front of the club to see if Finn approved.
Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street
Faster than the wind, passion in the sin, ending so suddenly
Loving him is like trying to change your mind when you're flying through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn so bright just before they lose it all
Losing him was blue like I never know
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was trying to know somebody you never met
But loving him was red
Loving him was red
Oh red, burning red
Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoes
Tell myself it's time that gotta let go
But moving on from him is impossible
And I still see it all in my head
Burning red
Loving him was red
Losing him was blue like I never know
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was trying to know somebody you never met
Cause loving him was red
Yeah red
Burning red
and that's why he's spinning around in my head
comes back to me burning red
Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street.
"That'll be great for the show, Charlie." Finn told me. "It was a bit faster than I expected, but you did good."
I decided to talk to Marley as before I left with Quinn. She was going to introduce me to her mom.
"So have you and Blaine picked a song yet?" I asked.
"We were gonna do 'Scream and Shout'." Marley replied.
"No." I responded. "You cannot sing that. That is one of the worst songs that is out right now. There is definitely something better that you can sing. How about 'One More Night'?"
"I'll bring it up to him." She agreed.
"Are you okay?" I asked her, noticing that she seemed to be fidgeting.
"I'm fine." Marley replied. I stared. "Okay, so I'm a little afraid that I'm going to blow it."
"You're not going to blow it." I told her. "You're gonna be great."
I gave her a hug before I left.
I was pretty nervous about meeting Quinn's mom. It didn't help that I was the reason that her marriage ended. I couldn't help how I was conceived. I didn't ask to be a child of an affair.
"I don't know if I can do this." I told Quinn as we stood in front of the door.
"My mom isn't going to hate you." She replied. "She's more mad at our dad than anything. She definitely does not blame you."
I walked into the house and there was a woman with blonde hair and younger woman in her mid-to-late 20s with brown hair.
"Frannie?" Quinn said in surprise. Did I have another sister?
"You must be Charlie." Frannie replied as she wrapped me in a hug. It was kind of weird considering how much shorter she was than me. "I'm Frannie, your oldest sister."
"What are you doing here?" Quinn asked her.
"Frannie is going through a divorce." Quinn's mom Judy declared.
"My husband wasn't supportive of my decision to dance ballet." Frannie explained. "So now we're over and I'm here for Thanksgiving."
"You look nervous dear." Judy remarked.
"I'm just kind of uncomfortable." I admitted. "I wasn't expecting to literally be welcomed here with open arms."
"Just because I don't like my ex-husband doesn't mean that I hate you." She replied. "I probably should have left him as soon as he wanted to throw Quinn out."
"Well if it makes you feel any better, I don't really like him either." I replied. "He tries to control me. I honestly don't know what my mom sees in him or ever saw in him for that matter."
"I let him control me." Judy stated. "So do you want to join us for Thanksgiving?"
"They are having Sectionals on Thanksgiving." I remarked. "That's a worse idea than stores being open for crackpots who have to get their Christmas shopping done before they can pumpkin pie…no offense if that's what you do."
On the day of Sectionals, which our school was hosting, we prepared our last rehearsal in the choir room. Marley and Blaine were practicing their number. The rest of us were going to be ooh-ing
You and I go hard at each other like we're going to war
We keep throwing things and slamming the door
You and I get so damn dysfunctional we stopped keeping score
You and I get sick, yeah I know we can't do this no more
But there you go again there you go again making me love you
Yeah I stopped using my head using my head let it all go
Got you stuck on my body on my body like a tattoo
And now I'm feeling stupid feeling stupid crawling back to you
So I crossed my heart and I hoped to die
That I'd only stay with you one more night
And I know I said it a million times
That I'd only stay with you one more night
Try to tell you no but my body keeps on telling you yes
Try to tell you stop but your lips they got me so out of breath
I'd be waking up in the morning probably hating myself
I'd be waking up feeling satisfied but guilty as hell
But there you go again there you go again making me love you
Yeah I stopped using my head using my head let it all go
Got you stuck on my body on my body like a tattoo
And now I'm feeling stupid feeling stupid crawling back to you
So I crossed my heart and I hoped to die
That I'd only stay with you one more night
And I know I said it a million times
That I'd only stay with you one more night
We then went out to watch the Warblers perform. They literally started their performance with a song about a blowjob. Seriously, how could they get away with that? It's pretty obvious what that song is about and it's not even a very good song either. Flo Rida should just write hooks for other people. I could tell that their dance moves were really good. They were really, really good.
They then began their second performance. Holy crap, it's this.
Girl, I'm waiting on you, I'm waiting on you
In the morning let me sneak you out
And have a celebration, a celebration
The music up, the windows down
Yeah we'll be doing what we do
Just pretending that we're cool and we know it too
Yeah we'll keep doing what we do
Just pretending that we're cool so tonight
Let's go crazy, crazy, crazy till we see the sun
I know we only met but let's pretend it's love
And never, never, never stop for anyone
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
Wanna live while we're young
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
And girl you and I we're 'bout to make some memories tonight
I wanna live while we're young
I wanna live while we're young
Let's go crazy, crazy, crazy till we see the sun
I know we only met but let's pretend it's love
And never, never, never stop for anyone
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
Wanna live while we're young
Wanna live while we're young
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
Okay One Direction is music that can get any girl's panties wet. That's all that I am going to say about that. Now I was a little bit nervous. They were really good. Okay so the vocals weren't the strongest, but I couldn't help but think that the judges might be too mesmerized by their dance moves to notice. I also noticed that Marley looked downright terrified. Jake grabbed her hand to let her know that it was going to be okay. I think we could still win on our vocal talent alone. I mean that's how Kelly Clarkson won American Idol. Of course nowadays, it seems like whoever wins is the cute guy who knows how to play the guitar. Though, Scotty McCreery only played it like once or twice.
The next performance was by this group of Amish kids. I didn't know that Amish had show choirs…or listened to music. I wonder how they felt about the Warblers singing about both oral and vaginal sex. They probably didn't like it very much. I don't think that they have a chance to win. I didn't know that we were allowed to play instruments.
We prepared for our performance while Sam looked out into the audience.
"Mr. Schue is here." He whispered.
I decided to talk to Marley once more.
"Marley, we are not going to suck." I told her. "You are not going to suck. We are going to win this thing."
We went out and began to do the Gangnam Style dance. I thought it was ridiculous. I can't be that this was a hit. I mean it's a video of a guy singing in Korean and doing a bunch of weird things. I mean what next: a song where a bunch of guys dress up like animals and make animal sounds? Tina was singing in Korean while Jake was leading the dance.
We were almost done. I prepared to start my solo when all of a sudden Marley fainted. I hovered over her wondering if I should call 911.
Well it seems that Quinn wasn't the only Fabray to come home for Thanksgiving. Frannie is played by Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Plus the moment where it all went bad happened. Please don't forget to review.
