It was Friday. We were in Glee Club. As soon as we finished, Sam and I were going to go on our trip to see his family.

"So I want to go and give you a chance to prepare for next week, so I am assigning next week's theme today." Mr. Schue declared before he wrote Bon Jovi on the board. This would be awesome. "And to start things off, Finn has something for you."

I spent twenty trying to get out of this place
I was looking for something that I couldn't replace
I was running away from the only thing I've ever known

Then to the surprise of everyone, including me, Lucy came into the room.

Like a blind dog without a bone
I was a gypsy lost in the twilight zone
I hijacked a rainbow and crashed into a pot of gold

I've been there, done that I aint looking back on the seeds I've sown
Saving dimes spending too much time on the telephone
Who says you can't go home?

Who says you can't go home?
There's only one place that call me one of their own
Just a hometown boy, born a rolling stone
Who says you can't go home?
Who says you can't go back?
Been all around the world and as a matter of fact
There's only place left I wanna go
Who says you can't go home?
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright

It doesn't matter where you are
It doesn't matter where you go
If it's a million miles away
Or just a mile up the road
Take it in, take it with you when you go
Who says you can't go home

Who says you can't go home?
There's only one place that call me one of their own
Just a hometown boy, born a rolling stone
Who says you can't go home?
Who says you can't go back?
Been all around the world and as a matter of fact
There's only place left I wanna go
Who says you can't go home?
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Who says you can't go home?

"Everybody give it up for Finn Hudson and Quinn Fabray." Mr. Schue replied.

"It's Lucy." My sister says. "I want to go back to the person that I used to be, but at my current size. It was nice to perform in here again though."

"I'm sorry to interrupt, Sam and I really need to go." I stated. "We have to get on the road."

"That's basically it for today anyway." Mr. Schue replied. "Have fun on your trip."

Sam and I headed out to my car since it got better gas mileage than his. We already had a few days' worth of clothes packed and Sam began to drive because he knew how to get there better than I did. It was the first time that I was in the passenger seat of my own car.

"So what do you think of Bon Jovi week?" I asked Sam after about an hour of driving.

"I think it's a great idea because Bon Jovi is awesome." Sam replied. "It even gives us the perfect driving song."

Hey, hey
Hey, hey

In my rearview mirror, my life is getting clearer
Sun sets high then slowly disappears
These trinkets once were treasure, life changes like the weather
You grow up, grow old or you hit the road round here

So I drive, watching white lines passing by
With my plastic dashboard Jesus waiting there to greet us

Hey, hey I've finally my way
Say goodbye to yesterday
Hit the gas there aint no breaks
On this lost highway
Yeah I'm busting loose I'm letting go
Out on this open road
It's Independence Day
On this lost highway
Hey, hey
Hey, hey

A putrid scene of lonely souls tell this boy which way to go
Got the car, got the keys, farewell to mediocrity
Kicking off the cruise control and turning up the radio
Got just enough religion and a half tank of gas come on
Let's go

I've finally my way
Say goodbye to yesterday
Hit the gas there aint no breaks
On this lost highway
Yeah I'm busting loose I'm letting go
When I'm out on this open road
It's Independence Day
On this lost highway
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Hey, hey

On this lost highway.

"Well at least that was interesting." I commented. "Wasn't that one of the songs from their country album?"

"It's the best song from their country album." Sam replied.

"Just tell me that you're not going to sing for the whole ride." I responded.

"There is something that I need to talk to about. It doesn't have to be on this ride, but we should still talk about it." He stated.

"What?" I questioned curiously.

"Sex." He replied. "I'm not in any way pressuring you about it, but I think we should come up with a plan."

"Or when the moment is right, we can let it happen." I proposed. "I mean there have been times that I have wanted to, but I think the most important thing is we need to make sure that we have protection, but I don't think sex is something that we should expect to have this weekend, because I don't really want my first time to be in your parents' house."

"Okay." He replied. "Also whatever you do, don't tell my parents about how I used to be a stripper."

"You used to be a stripper?" I questioned in surprise.

"Someone had to help the family." He remarked.

A little after dinner, I started to notice that it was raining pretty heavily. Added to the fact that it was dark, it was getting pretty hard to see ahead of us.

"I think you should pull over at that hotel." I suggested. It was Holiday Inn.

"But we're only an hour away." Sam declared. That wasn't the important factor at the moment.

"Well I don't want to get in an accident." I explained. "We can wait here to see if it clears up and if it doesn't, we can get a room."

Sam pulled into the parking lot and we decided to go inside because it would be warmer than sitting in the car. It turned out that we were in Seymour, Indiana.

"You kids aren't runaways, are you?" The clerk asked.

"No." I replied. "Why would it matter if we were?"

"Our policy prevents us from offering rooms to minors without parental consent." She explained. Well that was a weird policy.

"We're not even sure if we're going to be staying, but here is my mom's cellphone number." I explained. "We just needed to get out the rain."

"Where are you heading?" She asked. I noticed her name was Jessica. Why the hell was she being so nosy?

"We're actually going to see my parents in Louisville." Sam answered because he was friendlier than me.

We took a seat in the lobby while Jessica called my mom. The rain didn't seem to be letting up and I was starting to wonder if we should just get a room. It was kind of awkward.

"So do you think that the Browns are going to be any good this year?" Sam asked me. I didn't watch football.

"No." I replied simply. The Browns were never good. "I think that the Indians might a shot though. It doesn't really look like it's going to clear up. You should call your parents and tell them that we won't be there until tomorrow."

Sam nodded and took out his cellphone while I went to the desk to tell Jessica that we were going to get a room for the night and that we needed the best available.

A few minutes later, we headed to our room on the third floor. There were two beds that I wasn't sure that we were going to use. Actually, I was fairly certain that we would be sleeping in the same bed.

"I think I'm going to check out the shower and maybe you can see if there's anything that we can watch." I suggested. I headed into the bathroom began to strip myself before getting in the shower. As the water started to come down on me, I couldn't help but start to him the Bon Jovi song that was stuck in my head. By the time that I got, I had started to sing it.

Sitting here wasted and wounded at this old piano
Trying hard to capture the moment this morning I don't know
Cause a bottle of vodka's still lodged in my hand
Some blonde gave me nightmares, I think that she's still in my bed
As I dream about movies they won't make of me when I'm dead

I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I sleep on a bed of nails
I wanna be just as close as the holy ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Well this hotel bar's hangover whiskey's gone dry
The barkeeper's wig gone crooked she's giving me the eye
Well I might have yeah
And I laughed so hard I think that I died

By this point, I got on top of Sam and pushed him onto the bed.

I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I sleep on a bed of nails
I wanna be just as close as the holy ghost is
And lay you down

I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I sleep on a bed of nails
I wanna be just as close as the holy ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Okay, so it lasted longer than that, but that's personal stuff and I don't want to talk about that. There were a few mishaps, but all and all, it was pretty great.

"You know this room is probably better than my one back home." Sam stated. I couldn't help but giggle. "It probably is true, though."

"That applies to most people's rooms." I pointed out. "Not mine, but you get the picture."

"So do you know what song you're going to sing in Glee club next week?" He asked.

"I'd rather wait and see what this weekend will hold before I decide on that." I replied. "But 'Bed of Roses' would be a nice choice."

In the morning, it was nice and sunny. We decided to skip breakfast and just eat there since we were only an hour away and it was 7:00. We grabbed our stuff and checked out before heading to the car and began to drive to Louisville. I knew that Sam was going to be happy when we got there.

We pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell. The door was opened by a blonde woman who immediately wrapped Sam in a hug. I also noticed a man with greying blonde hair.

"Mom, Dad this is my girlfriend Charlie Fabray." He introduced. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to curtsy or shake hands. I shook his father's hand.

"You know you didn't need to pay to bring Sam all the way out here." His father Dwight told me.

"What good is having money if I can't use it to help people?" I challenged.

"Sam, I think I think you need to hold onto this one." Dwight declared. "She seems like a keeper."

I couldn't help but smile.

"Well we've had a few missteps over the past few months, but I think it's definite that we are in love." Sam replied.

At that point, two kids came out and ran to hug Sam. He was getting a lot of them right now, but I guess that's to be expected when you haven't had physical contact with your family in a year.

"Who's this Sammy?" His brother Stevie asked looking directly at me.

"This is my girlfriend Charlie Fabray." Sam told his brother.

"Are you Quinn's sister?" His sister Stacey asked me.

"Yes, I am but it took me a while to meet her." I replied as I bent over to talk to her. "Your brother talks about you two all of the time."

Yes, it's a lie, but it sounds better.

"So do you sing too?" Stevie asked me.

"Maybe we should let them eat first?" Dwight suggested.

After breakfast, Sam took a guitar. I hoped that this song was okay for children. I listened to it when I was a kid. He was playing while I was singing.

It's all the same, only the names will change
Every day it seems we're wasting away
Another place where the faces are so cold
I drive all night just to get back home

I'm a cowboy on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted dead or alive

Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days
The people I meet always go their separate ways
Sometimes you tell a day by the cup from which you drink
Sometimes we're you alone all you do is think

I'm a cowboy on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted (
Wanted) dead or alive
Wanted
(Wanted) dead or alive

Oh and I ride

And I walk these streets a loaded six-string on my back
I play for keeps cause I might not make it back
I've been everywhere and still I'm standing tall
I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all

I'm a cowboy on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted
(Wanted) dead or alive
I'm a cowboy I got the night on my side
I'm wanted
(Wanted) dead or alive

And I ride dead or alive
I still drive dead or alive
Dead or alive
Dead or alive
Dead or alive

You know I was kind of jealous of how functional Sam's family was. They all seemed pretty close and it must have been hard for him to leave them. It was going to be hard for him to leave them again.

"So you guys are going to be in Lima when Sam graduates, aren't you?" I asked. "I mean if you need the money, I can give it to you."

"We've actually been planning for it for a while." Mary replied. "But thank you. You know you're welcome here any time, Charlie."

So for starters, the title of this chapter comes from the name of Bon Jovi's first greatest hits CD. The songs in this chapter are "Who Says You Can't Go Home" from Have a Nice Day, "Lost Highway" from Lost Highway, "Bed of Roses" from Keep the Faith and "Wanted Dead or Alive" from Slippery When Wet. This chapter is very fluffy oh and they did it. Please don't forget to review.
