I arrived at school after picking Marley up because her car was in the shop…actually it wasn't even in the shop. It was damaged and they didn't have the money to fix it. So Jake and I were basically alternating chauffeuring her around.
We walked into the Glee Club and noticed that Mr. Schue was writing SPRING BREAK on the board.
"Spring Break doesn't start till next week." Joe pointed out.
"I'm aware of this, but I've decided that the theme of this week is going to be Spring Break: Party and Vacation songs." Mr. Schue explained. "This is not a time for ballads. These are songs about having fun."
"Okay." I replied as I walked to the center of the room. The band began to play some rock music.
Got my first real six-string, bought it at the 5 and Dine
Played until my fingers bled, it was the Summer of 69
Me and some guys from school had a band we tried real hard
Jimmy quit, Jody got married should have known we've never get far
And when I look back now that summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice you know I'll always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
Back in the Summer of 69
And now the times are changing look at everything that's come and gone
Sometimes I play that old six-string I think about you wonder what went wrong
Standing on your momma's porch you told me that it'd last forever
Oh the way you held my hand, I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
Back in the Summer of 69
It was the summer of 69
Me and my baby in 69
It was the summer, summer, summer of 69
It wasn't until I finished that I realized that maybe I shouldn't have sung such a sexual song. You see 69 doesn't refer to 1969, but to 69 position. I wasn't sure if anyone else knew that.
"Okay, that was more of a summer song than a Spring Break song, but thank you Charlie." Mr. Schue replied. I think he knew it.
After school, I needed to decide what Sam and I were going to do. I really wanted to see Spring Breakers, but I wasn't old enough to buy a ticket. Therefore, I was going to need him to buy one for me.
"So do you want to see Spring Breakers with me?" I asked him. "I can't really see it by myself."
"Sure, but you know a lot of it is girls in bikinis, don't you?" He responded.
"Yes, I know." I replied.
So we went and saw the movie. I went to go get some popcorn while he bought the tickets.
It wasn't long into the movie that I knew it was a bad idea to see it. It wasn't because it was R-rated. I hit have a problem seeing boobs. I mean I see a pair every day, but seeing them bounce around in such a weird fashion was making me nauseous. We were about halfway through the movie when I had seen all that I could take.
"I'm going to be sick." I told Sam as I ran out of the theatre. Luckily there was a trashcan for me to vomit in. I wonder if they expected such. Sam held my hair. This movie wasn't right. The characters on screen were doing all of the drinking and the drugs and I was the one who was getting sick. What the hell was this director thinking? Finally, I managed to stop. "I am not going back in there."
"I don't suppose that you're hungry anymore." Sam replied.
"I just want to go home." I remarked. I've never had that reaction from a movie before. I know what to expect when I see a horror movie and I even made it through Cloverfield.
So Sam began to drive me back to the school. I think that he thought that I could use some cheering up because he started to sing something.
Everyone's watching to see what you will do
Everyone's looking at you
Everyone's wondering will you come out tonight
Everyone's trying to get it right, get it right
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance
Everybody's going off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance
You wanna piece of my heart
You better start from the start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby let's go
Everyone's looking to see if it was you
Everyone wants you to come through
Everyone's hoping it'll all work out
Everyone's waiting, they're holding out
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance
Everybody's going off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance
You wanna piece of my heart
You better start from the start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby let's go
"I love that you always want to make me feel better." I told him when he was finished.
"It's my specialty." Sam stated and I just smiled.
The next day, Kitty had called all of us girls together. Apparently she wanted us to dance to this song that she was singing and she had some slightly slutty outfits for us. I couldn't help but wonder song she was going to be singing.
"I'm not sure that I'm comfortable like this." Marley admitted as she came out in a rip tank top and shorts.
"You look great." I told her.
We headed into the choir room as the music started to play.
Hot and dangerous if you're one of us then roll with us
Cause we make the hipsters fall in love when we got our hot pants on and up
And yes of course we does we running town just like a club
And no you don't wanna mess with us got Jesus on my necklace
Got that glitter on my eyes
Stockings ripped all up the side
Looking sick and sexy-fied
So let's go oh, oh Let's go
Tonight we're going har-har-ha-ha-hard
Just like the world is our-our-our-our-ours
We're tearing it a par-par-pa-pa-part
You know we're superstars we are who we are
We're dancing like we're dumb-dumb-duh-duh-dumb
Our bodies feeling numb-numb-nuh-nuh-numb
We'll be forever young-young-ya-ya-young
You know we're superstars we are who we are
DJ turn it up-up-up-up-up
DJ turn it up-up-up-up-up
DJ turn it up-up-up-up-up
DJ turn it up-up-up-up-up
Tonight we're going har-har-ha-ha-hard
Just like the world is our-our-our-our-ours
We're tearing it a par-par-pa-pa-part
You know we're superstars we are who we are
We're dancing like we're dumb-dumb-duh-duh-dumb
Our bodies feeling numb-numb-nuh-nuh-numb
We'll be forever young-young-ya-ya-young
You know we're superstars we are who we are
You know for a Ke$ha song, that really wasn't that trashy. Sure, we looked kind of trashy, but the music itself really wasn't. I actually have a lot of respect for Ke$ha because her career is a statement of what pop music is. Ke$ha is essentially an actress and she's a pretty good one. I didn't even mind the clothing. My dad would freak if he saw me dressed like this, that I'm sure of.
On Friday, my sisters decided to pay for a trip to Virginia Beach. We would be renting a condo. We needed people to live in it, so I was bringing Sam and Marley, and Lucy was bringing Finn, Brittany and Santana.
We arrived Virginia Beach after a flight of a few hours. As you may have guessed, I am not someone who gets a lot of sun, and that was going to show when I was in my bikini, but I didn't care. I was just happy to be here for a real spring break experience, which I didn't want to be a Spring Breakers experience.
There was a bit of lying involved, but as far as everyone knew, Marley and I were 18. It was going to be okay.
On Saturday morning, we all woke up and of course Sam began to sing this song and soon after, everyone but Frannie joined in.
Woke up on the right side of the bed
What's up with this Prince song inside my head
Hands up if you're down to get down tonight
Cause it's always a good time
Slept in all my clothes like didn't care
Hopped in a cab take me anywhere
Climb in if you're down to get tonight
Cause it's always a good time
Good morning and good night
I wake up at twilight
It's gonna be alright
We don't even have to try it's always a good time
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh it's always a good time
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, we don't even have to try it's always a good time
Doesn't matter when, it's always a good time then
Doesn't matter when, it's always a good time then
Doesn't matter when, it's always a good time then
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh it's always a good time
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, we don't even have to try it's always a good time
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh it's always a good time
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, we don't even have to try it's always a good time
From there, we went to the beach. It wasn't really a party and it was actually nothing like the movie. There weren't any rappers on the beach and no one looked like James Franco, which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing. Yeah, my skin was pretty white, but I didn't really care. We were on Spring Break and it was going to be awesome. Absolutely nothing was going to go wrong.
We did end up going to a beach party that night and it was still nothing like it was in the movie. Of course that was in Florida, but it was still nice and warm. The water was kind of cold, but the beach was fine. They had food and drinks at this thing. I guess that it wouldn't hurt to let loose and drink a little. They didn't even have any drugs. They were letting whoever wanted go up on the stage and sing, which didn't actually sound like a very good idea. Some people can sing and others can't sing with alcohol. I really was only going to have one drink. I don't think I was looking to get drunk. Lucy was the first one to go up on the stage.
Let me know that I've done wrong
When I've known this all along
I go around a time or two
Just to waste my time with you
Tell me all that you've thrown away
Find out games you don't wanna play
You are the only one that needs to know
I'll keep you my dirty little secret
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
Just another regret hope that you can keep it
My dirty little secret who has to know
The way he feels inside
Those thoughts I can't deny
These sleeping dogs won't lie
And I have tried to but it's eating me apart
Trace this lie back
I'll keep you my dirty little secret
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
I'll keep you my dirty little secret
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
Just another regret hope that you can keep it
My dirty little secret, dirty little secret, dirty little secret
Who has to know, who has to know?
So from that point, I noticed that Marley was drinking I couldn't believe that Marley was drinking. She was drinking from a keg. That wasn't good. I needed to go get her. I walked over to her where as she was wobbling. She also had several guys around her.
"Marley, it's time to go." I told her.
"But I don't want to." She responded.
"Trust me. You do." I declared as I pulled on her.
"She doesn't have to leave if she doesn't want to." One of the guys remarked. He should not have gotten involved.
"She's 16, so maybe you should let me take her." I responded before dragging her away.
It was at that moment that Marley began to sing. It was rather off-key. I don't think she had the lyrics right either.
I hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and card again
Welcome to the land of fame and sex am I gonna fit in?
Jumped in a cab here I am for the first time, look to my right and see the Hollywood sign
This is all so crazy, everybody's looking for famous
My tummy turning and I'm feeling kind of homesick
Too much pressure and I'm nervous
That's when the taximan turned on the radio and the Jay-Z song was on
And the Jay-Z song was on and the Jay-Z song was on.
So I put my hands up, they're playing my song
The butterflies fly away
Nodding my head like yeah
Moving my hips like yeah
I've got my hands up, they're playing my song
I know I'm gonna be okay
Yeah it's a party in the USA
Yeah it's a party in the USA
That was all that she was able to finish because then she started vomiting. I texted Sam to let him know that we were going back and to meet us there. I can't believe that I was on the other side of this. I guess it was better than being the one who was puking. I did have a key to the house in case we needed to go back. I definitely didn't want to tell Marley's mom about this. I hoped that something like this wouldn't retrigger her bulimia. Is it even possible to retrigger bulimia? I don't know. Before I could think about it anymore, my phone started to ring. It was my mom. I opened the door and we went inside of the house before I answered it.
"What's up Mom?" I asked.
"Are you sitting down right now?" Mom questioned.
"No. What's going on?" I questioned.
"You'll want to sit down." She instructed me. I went over to the couch.
"Okay, I'm sitting. So what's going on?" I repeated.
"Your dad's been shot." He remarked. "He's dead."
So Russel is dead. That's a very a somber ending to an otherwise fun episode. Also Charlie did not like Spring Breakers. The songs in this chapter are "Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams, "Working for the Weekend" by Loverboy, "We R Who We R" by Ke$ha, "Good Time" by Carly Rae Jepson and Owl City, "Dirty Little Secret" by The All-American Rejects, and "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus. Please don't forget to review.
