Thor awoke hearing noises from the kitchen. Groaning, he sat up and watched as Talin moved around the kitchen, grabbing spices from the cabinet above the stove. She was cooking something and it smelled incredible. She proceeded to begin chopping up something.
"Morning." Thor said, stretching.
He paused and glanced at his arm. The burns were completely gone. Amazing.
"I'm cooking you breakfast before you go." Talin called over her shoulder.
Thor noticed she didn't look very well. She was more pale, nearly grey in color, and she seemed somewhat shaky. He got up and went over to observe what she was cooking.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just need to eat something, that's all." She said.
Something told him she was lying. A few minutes later and he was sitting at her small table, putting a plate in front of him with delicious smelling but odd looking food.
"It's bacon and an omelette." Talin explained, sitting across from him.
Cautiously Thor picked up a strip of the bacon, and took a small nibble off the end.
"This..is... outstanding!" Thor burst out.
As he stuffed his face, Thor began to notice things. Talin only had two chairs at the small table. Only two plates, two bowls, two sets of silverware. He slowed down his eating as the scene was familiar to him in a way. It was just her and Loki. Such a sad existence it must be, staying in this one place all these years with only Loki for company.
Soon after Thor got ready to go back to Asgard. Talin had restored his armor, and as he stood outside he noticed she did not seem much better.
"Are you sure you want me to go? I wouldn't want to leave you in poor health." Thor offered.
"I'm sure. On Asgard you've been gone for a few hours now, someone is bound to notice your absence. I'll be fine, I promise. But if you don't mind, I have a note for you to give to my dad." She said, pulling a folded piece of paper from her pocket.
"Certainly. I'll be back soon." Thor said, tucking the note under his armor.
Suddenly Talin hugged him tightly, and he was so surprised he laughed from it.
"Thank you for yesterday Thor. It's the most fun I've had in a while. Tell my dad thank you as well." She said.
And suddenly he was flying back home.
"What do you make of it?" Fury asked over the intercom.
Stark, that pain int he ass, was the one he knew best to be fluent with all things technological. He had sent the collected photos to Stark so he could scan them, see if he could find their origin, and if they had been tampered with or photo shopped somehow. After all, some people had become obsessed with Loki and Thor, and all the Avengers. Media had been minimized but somehow pictures had found their way around the globe.
"They're all real. Beyond some minor photo edits, what you see if what was there. They came from a fair in LA somewhere. It's definitely blondie, but I have no other sources of who the girl is, and I ran her through every database there is. No other security footage, no photos, nothing. All I have is some video of her and Thor walking around the fair. I can see they came from behind a building, no idea how they got there. Then they suddenly disappeared, right when the photos were being taken."
Fury sighed heavily. Just what he needed. Was Thor gallivanting around with his beloved brother, who had just weeks previously murdered countless people and caused untold destruction and mayhem over the world?
"Stark, I need you to set up a security system to track them whenever they appear. We need to catch them and find out what's going on."
"Already done. I have it directed straight to your systems. Now if you don't mind, I have work to get back to."
Fury looked again at the multitude of pictures taken. Was this girl actually Loki in disguise, or was it someone else entirely?
Thor knocked at Loki's door, and waited til Loki called out before he entered. Thor was worried about Talin, but should he tell Loki about what had occurred? It would only worry Loki more, and frustrate him.
"Did she have fun?" Loki asked, sitting back at his desk where he had been reading a book.
"Yes she did. She says thank you, by the way. And she gave me this." Thor announced, pulling the note from under his armor.
Loki took it and read it over quickly. He smiled softly as he read.
Daddy,
Thank you so much for the necklace, it's beautiful. It will take me some time to master it, but it's fun. I wish I could somehow come visit you, but I know you wouldn't want me to risk it. The fair was so much fun, you need to go to one with me when you can. Thor isn't so bad, once you get used to him. I miss you every day. Hopefully, somehow, I'll see you soon. I love you!
Talin
"The fair was quite fun, brother. Much to see, and to eat. Many things to look at and buy. There were strange people there too. Loki, there was a woman with a full beard!" Thor burst out, grinning like a child.
Loki smiled, picturing what that must have looked like. He caught a whiff of something off of Thor and paused.
"Is that bacon I smell?" He asked.
"Yes, yes it is! It's probably the best thing I've ever had, and-" Thor began to ramble.
"You stayed til the morning?" Loki asked, his amusement fading.
"Well, yes. Talin wasn't feeling well last night so she sent me home this morning when she was feeling better."
"What do you mean, she wasn't feeling well?" Loki asked, and Thor could see stress tightening the corners of his face.
"Well... I'm not really sure what happened... but when she tried to move us home she missed, and she couldn't move us again after that, so I flew us home and she went to bed." Thor explained.
"She had an episode, didn't she?" Loki asked, and he looked suddenly very worried, if not scared.
"I suppose that's what it was." Thor answered hesitantly.
Loki sat still for a long moment before he suddenly swatted the book off his desk, cursing to himself. He groaned, pressing a hand to his forehead.
"Was she better this morning?" Loki asked quietly.
"Yes, she seemed to be. She healed my arm, and she was up and about." Thor explained.
Loki was up in an instant, grabbing at Thor's arms, pulling the arm guards off quickly. His chilled fingers probed quickly over each forearm, and then he was focused on the one that had been burned. With a wave of his hand, suddenly tingling spread up Thor's entire arm, and Thor watched with alarm as raised red blisters appeared where the burns had been.
"She didn't heal you, not completely. She's weak..." Loki muttered, more to himself than to Thor.
He sighed heavily, dropping Thor's arm.
"You need to get that healed or it'll go back to the way it was soon. Tell them you ran into some plant in the woods while you were out walking. Make up some excuse, make it believable." Loki said softly, and sat at the edge of his bed, looking utterly frustrated and defeated.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Thor asked.
"... Yes. But not now. Go take care of your arm, come back tonight. We'll see what can be done then." Loki said.
Thor nodded and left.
