THE POWERFUL LEGENDARY OF A DUBIOUS PAST

Mewtwo walked through the city, barely even glancing at the huge tower in the center. He didn't understand why humans got so lost in the circular metropolis. Beside him, his trainer, Serena, walked with the rest of her team. Usually, the sight of the powerful legendary would have caused people to stare, but they had eyes only for the champion walking beside him.

Serena threw up her hands in frustration, and Mewtwo chuckled.

Lost, Serena?

Serena glared at him. He could still remember when she had caught him, the Master Ball defying all of his attempts to escape. However, she had soon accepted him as an equal, and her Talonflame, Mawile, Absol, Greninja, and Lucario quickly viewed him as a part of a team. The six Pokémon and one human worked well as a flawless unit, and Mewtwo's anger at being captured had quickly dissipated as he came to respect the Kalos Champion.

How many times have you been in this city again?

"Shut up, Mewtwo," she muttered. "This city makes my head hurt, and- no, not another!"

A fifteen year old fan boy ran up to the twenty four year old trainer.

"Serena! May I have your autograph! Please, my friends will never believe that I actually met you!" He gushed, his besotted eyes making Mewtwo want to be sick.

"Fine," she muttered, pulling out a pen and signing her name, then ducking into a nearby café as soon as the boy left.

Mewtwo turned to follow her, but found himself slamming into an invisible barrier that not even his physic powers could penetrate.

He could only watch as five men in black suits with an electric blue double helix pattern jumped out at Serena. He forced himself to take a deep breath. Even without him, her team was strong. She would be okay.

Serena looked around at the five oddly dressed men as two of them sent out a Pokémon. A Simisear and a Kadabra. She looked out the window towards Mewtwo's wide eyes.

"We want this to be a fair fight, Serena. You can send out two Pokémon as well."

Serena snorted. Two of her Pokémon versus two of theirs? It would be a massacre, not a battle. Smiling, she sent out her Absol and her Greninja.

"Absol, use Night Slash on Kadabra!" She watched in shock and horror as it only did as much damage as a regular Slash. What was happening?

"Greninja, use Surf!" She waited for the wave of water to go flying towards the opposing Pokémon, but nothing happened. She gulped.

"This café has been covered with a force field that keeps out legendaries, and neutralizes the power of most Pokémon. Unless they have a special microchip in them, like ours have, of course. Simisear, use Flamethrower on Absol!" The first man said. She felt the heat of the flame and averted her eyes as the bright jet of fire careened towards her Absol.

"Wha…?" she muttered.

"Kadabra, use teleport!" the second man shouted.

"But this is a Pokémon battle!" the champion protested before she and her Pokémon disappeared and flickered back into existence in a cell. The five men smiled as they put handcuffs on her wrists, and put special collars on her Pokémon that would neutralize their powers.

The third man mockingly bowed to her. She glared.

"Welcome to Team Helix headquarters. Would you like us to give you the grand tour?"

"Team Helix?" she asked, not thinking of anything else to say.

"Yes, like the double helix in DNA. I assume you know what DNA is?"

"Deoxyribonucleic acid. The building blocks of life." Serena answered. She had gotten good grades in science, thank you very much.

The man pouted. He had obviously wanted to explain DNA to her. "I am Dr. Crick Watson-"

Serena raised an eyebrow.

"Well, you can't expect us to give you our real names, can you? I am Dr. Crick Watson, the founder and head of Team Helix."

"And a Sherlock Holmes fanatic," muttered the fourth man.

"Well I can't help it if the narrator shares my code name, can I? Well, I suppose I could, seeing as I came up with the code names, but that's beside the point. These men behind me are my underlings, Dr. Guanine, Dr. Adenine, Dr. Thymine, and Dr. Cytosine."

"Seriously?" asked Serena. "The four bases of DNA?"

The man shrugged.

Mewtwo stared in shock as the five men disappeared with Serena and the rest of the team. If anybody had walked by the café, they would have seen the odd sight of the powerful Mewtwo sobbing silently on his knees. But luckily for his pride, nobody did.
