Chapter 13- Ruffledfern- RiverClan
I sprinted to the goods. Key to survival, supplies. I clawed left and right, gathering a small pile of rabbit skin pouches and guarded them with my life. Literally. Other badgers took my lead and began to collect their own hordes of supplies. Everyone fought bravely, hissing and slashing, the "Dark Pack" carried fierce determination. Almost. Snake broke away, he passed me on his way.
"What are you doing?" I hissed. "Fight!" Red streaks appeared on Daisypelt where my claws had been moments ago.
"I am." He replied smugly, sprinting to the edge of the clearing, away from the main fight. I watched the dark brown tabby thunder away towards an escaping Palesky, Violettail, and Cloudtuft. Snake leaped forward jaws outstretched, aimed at Violettail's throat. I could understand why one would want her out. She was experienced, smart and strong. If she wanted to, she could win the whole thing. I looked away for a moment, but turned to a shriek,
"NOOOOO!" I watched in horror as Palesky leaped in front of her sister, and Snake's jaws clamped down on her throat. A terrifying snap sounded and Palesky fell to the ground, head hanging at an odd angle. Her blue eyes were glazed over. Cloudtuft shot a look at his former mentor then launched himself at Snake. The young tom's claw connected with the dark tabby's bright green eyes, and Snake jumped back with a yelp. Violettail and Cloudtuft picked up their one rabbit kin pouch, and bolted away into the forest, fear of Snake propelling them forward. I stopped staring as a sharp stinging in my back alerted me to start fighting again.
Leafspring's claws dug into my back, I knew that a deep scarlet was staining my black fur. I pivoted around quickly and took her by surprise and kicked her hard in the stomach. The tortoiseshell landed sprawled on her back, a then I turned my attention to Lightstreak. He was fiercely grappling with Stormcloud, but I could tell she was losing energy fast. Stormcloud was still a bit out of shape, even after all the training, but apparently it was hard to lose weight. Rage gleamed Lightstreak's eyes, and I remembered they supposedly had a truce, but Stormcloud chose Dark over him. I pushed Lightstreak, in hopes to get him away from the dark blue she-cat. She was looking weak. I tried to seek out Dark, so she could help slip Stormcloud out of the fight, but the black loner was nowhere to be seen.
Attackers gone, I circled my small pile, growling at all who dare approach. That seemed to work! For the most part however, cats were busy fighting each other. Except one… From the corner of my eye, I noticed a ShadowClcan tom slink into the bushes. I wanted to maul him! He was avoiding a fight like a coward! Mistfur? Was that his name? Anyway you looked at it, he was still a coward just like the rest of ShadowClan. Blackthorn voiced my thoughts.
"Run like the mouse-heart you are! It's proof that ShadowClan is just a whole bunch of cowards!" Sunpelt whirled around from a nearby melee flung himself at the taunting tom.
"You take that back!" he hissed through gritted teeth.
"Never." Blackthorn croaked out as the golden tom's claws presed harder on his throat. Sunpelt toppled off Blackthorn as I landed on him, front paws outstretched. Once we were rolling around on the ground, panicked realization washed over me. 'Mousedung, I hadn't really thought past that part of the plan' We broke apart and Sunpelt stole a rabbit pouch and skittered off into the forest.
"Let it be known that ShadowClan are NOT cowards!" Sunpelt threatened and headed towards the trees.
"He says as he runs away!" Goldtoe laughed, joining the fight. He stutted into front of the bushes. "It's just like a ShadowClan cat to be all talk and no action. Did you know ShadowClan was once a faithless group of rouges for a while? They were too stubborn to stop their own demise! That's why ThunderClan was there! We may solve our problems on our own. Despite having the courage to ask for help once in a while, we always find the light and the end of the tunnel."
"You shut your mouth!" The fight basically stopped there. Lightstreak slipped away at somepoint, but all eyes were trained on the two toms. I was aware that the magic "cameras" were focusing in on Mossshadow and his bold words as he dragged himself out of the foliage.
"Why should I? I speak only the truth!"
"I SAID SHUT! UP!" Mossshadow roared, leaping at Goldtoe, Snowflecks and Sunpelt right behind him, I darted to the woods with my treasures, flinching at the scream that followed.
I apologize for not updating in such a long time, but my warriors obsession has waned. Therefore, it takes a lot more for me to sit and write. But I will not give up on this story! I AM NOT A QUITER!
On a second note, Thank you all readers! I just re-read this story, and Oh my sora! This is really poorly written! When I finish this, I plan to go through and edit. So all those people saying they loved the style of this story… Thank you! You're a true fan! :D So until my net chapter surfaces, please review and I'll try to write soon.
