I'm back. And Daniel isn't a Guy in White and he's not evil.
I don't own Danny Phantom.
Fishtail's eyes fluttered open. He looked around at the unfamiliar room. Where was he?
You could barely see the walls of the room, which were blue. They were hidden behind newspaper stating the events of Maddie and Jack Fenton (who seemed to be better ghosthunters in this dimension), the Red Huntress, and someone called "the White Hunter". Newspaper articles about ghosts were also hung with ghost-shaped push-pins. A white and black high-tech laptop sat on a desk in the corner. A few ectoguns and other weaponry were strewn on the desk along with books on ghosthunting. Fishtail was sitting on a bed with ghost-print bed sheets.
"Who's room is this?" he asked to no one in particular.
He scanned the room again, looking for any clue. And he found one. Between two newspaper articles on the wall, was a blueprint. The letters "rtma" were clearly seen.
"Rtma?" Fish asked. He got up, steading himself when he almost fell. When he was fine, he walked slowly over to the blueprint. Raising a hand, that was webbed from nervousness, he moved both articles aside.
With a gasp, he stepped back and said two words. "Explorer Hartman."
"Indeed," a voice from behind him said. "I used to want to be an astronaut."
Fishtail's blue eyes widened. He slowly turned around to see the Daniel Fenton of Dimension 5 in a white HAZMAT suit with black accents. An ectogun hung at his waist.
"But this isn't about me," Daniel said, walking forward. "I was wondering why you were hanging out with a ghost."
"I'm not saying anything until you tell me what you've done with Time," Fishtail stated, holding his head up high.
Daniel smirked. "Timepiece is still unconscious. Along with Danny and Danni."
Fishtail's eyes widened. "You—you've got Danny and Danni."
"I do," Daniel said. "Well, actually, we do."
He walked over to his desk and placed a flat disk down. He pressed a button on the side and a hologram of Maddie, Jack, and Jazz Fenton, Valerie Gray, and him popped up.
"The FentonWorks team," he said. "We celebrated our first anniversary yesterday. You've been unconscious all night."
Fishtail's gaze narrowed.
"It started when the ghost portal first activated. Dad and Mom were lucky that I caught the fact that they had put the On button on the inside. They activated it and immediately ghosts started pouring out of it. My friends, Sam and Tucker were there and were attacked by two ghosts. I grabbed an ectogun and destroyed both ghosts." Daniel looked away and his voice cracked. "They nearly died. The Foleys and the Mansons moved away once Sam and Tuck got out of the hospital. I haven't heard from them since. It was that day that I swore to become a ghost hunter. Jazz soon followed me. Then came Valerie. A ghost dog destroyed Axion Labs and got her father fired. She came to us. Mom and Dad made her a suit and a jet sled and a wide array of weaponry. She's a good girlfriend."
Girlfriend? Fishtail thought.
"It took her the longest time out of all of us to accept that some ghosts were good," Daniel said, shutting off the hologram. "That's what your friends are going for. We created an invention that scans a ghost's mind to determine if they are good or evil. If they're good, we'll simply question them and let them go. If they're evil…" he chuckled and leaned forward, his face inches away from Fishtail's. "…they'll be torn apart. Molecule by molecule." With another chuckle, he leaned back against the bed. "So tell me about yourself. It's probably that you're a normal human with a normal life."
Fishtail leaned against his desk. A smirk slipping on his face. "Do you really believe that I'm a normal human being?"
Daniel looked down at his gloved hand. "I do."
"Look me in the eyes and say that."
Daniel looked up. He looked Fishtail straight in the eyes. "I believe you're a normal human with a normal life."
Fishtail chuckled, closing his eyes for a second. "Then it's probably bad that you're looking me in the eyes."
Before Daniel could react, Fishtail's eyes snapped open, full glowing green. The ghost hunter instinctively reached for his ectogun but just as his hand grasped the weapon, his own eyes glowed full green and his facial expression relaxed. A beam of green light left his eyes and entered the hybrid's. A second later, Daniel fell to the ground unconscious.
Smirking in satisfaction, Fishtail grabbed Daniel by his legs and dragged him into his closet. He slammed the door behind him and locked it.
"Sucker," the halfa said. He walked over to the door and opened it. Holding out a hand, he froze the stairs and slid down them, not making a sound. Silently, he turned invisible and intangible and phased through the door to the lab.
Maddie and Jack were on one side of the lab, preparing the device that would test the alignment of the two half-ghosts and the ghost. Danny, Danni, and Timepiece were in containment chambers (similar to the one that Vlad contained Danny in in Kindred Spirits). All three had their eyes closed.
Fishtail silently walked over to the chambers, more specifically Danny's containment chamber. Almost as soon as his webbed fingers brushed against it, Danny's eyes snapped open. He looked around with wide eyes.
"Danny!" Fishtail whispered.
"Fish?" the halfa asked, looking around.
Fishtail rolled his eyes. "I'm invisible, idiot. Listen. We have a chance. The Fentons of this dimension do believe that some ghosts are good. They're going to test you to see if you're good or evil."
"Look who's awake!"
Fishtail and Danny froze and looked over to see Maddie and Jack looking at Danny. The boy struggled against his restraint, trying desperately to break the chains.
Jack held up the device. To both halfas' surprise it didn't shock Danny or injure him in any way.
"He's good," Jack concluded. "Release him, Maddie."
The restraints broke and the glass separated, allowing Danny to step out.
"Wow," he said, rubbing his sore wrists. "You knocked us out just to test if we're good or evil."
Maddie nodded. "We still want answers, um…"
"Danny Phantom," Danny said. "It's not my real name but it's my alter ego so I'll respond to it."
"Okay, um, Phantom, I guess," Maddie continued. "Why do you look so much like Daniel?"
"More importantly where is Daniel?" Jazz asked.
Everyone jumped. No one had noticed her and Valerie standing in the shadows.
Danny didn't respond immediately. "FISHTAIL!"
Fishtail jumped and fell over, regaining visibility. "What?"
Everyone stared at him.
The half-merman sighed and rested his head in his still-webbed hands. "The next hour is going to be interesting.
….
An hour later, the Fenton Ghost Assault Vehicle roamed the streets of Amity Park, driven by Maddie Fenton.
"So far we don't see Dan," Jack told Danny (who was in ghost form), Danni (who was in ghost form), Fishtail (in half-morph form), Timepiece (in his normal apprentice outfit), Daniel, Valerie (in her suit without the mask), and Jazz. The Dimension Chasers had told the Dimension 5 ghost hunters the full story.
"So, Daniel," Danny said turning to the ghost hunter. "Have you ever caught a ghost named Vlad Plasmius?"
Daniel looked at him. "Vlad Plasmius? Yeah, we've caught him a couple times. Our devices label him as evil. Although he keeps slipping through our ghost-proof devices when our backs are turned."
Danny and Danni looked at each other.
"Do I dare?" Danni asked.
"Dare to do what, Girly?" Daniel asked.
Ignoring him, Danny nodded. "Say it."
"Say what, Ghostie?" Daniel asked, starting to get annoyed.
"Hey, Daniel," Danni said, brushing some white hair out of her left eye. "Next time you capture Plasmius, put him in a ghost and human resistant device."
Suddenly a green ectoblast hit the ground in front of the GAV. Danny quickly grabbed Daniel, Danni grabbed Valerie, Fishtail grabbed Jazz, and Timepiece grabbed Jack and Maddie and turned them intangible as the car went flying into a building.
The Dimension Chasers flew the humans to the ground.
"What was that?" Jazz asked.
Danny and Danni gasped as two blue wisps flew out of their mouths.
"I'm gonna take a guess and say Dan," Timepiece said.
"Well, well, seems like the apprentice is being smart."
A bluish-green ghost with flaming white hair and red eyes in a black and white jumpsuit and cape landed about 20 feet in front of them.
Dan Phantom.
With a yell, Fishtail shot forward, attempting to land a punch to Dan's gut. The ghost yawned and simply went intangible, letting the halfa pass through him.
Fishtail yelled out as he fell on the pavement. Danni, Danny, Daniel, and Timepiece winced. That looked like it hurt.
Dan turned around with a laugh as his hands lit up green. Fishtail didn't even notice his impending death coming up behind him.
Danni gasped. "Fishtail!"
He turned around, eyes widening when he saw Dan. He raised his arm to block his face.
Suddenly a black and white blur slid in front of Fishtail.
"Oh no you don't," Daniel growled.
Dan put his hands down and smirked. "Oooooh! A pathetic human! What are you going to be able to do to me?"
Daniel raised his arm and aimed it at Dan's face. A small rocket launcher popped out of his glove just above his wrist. It shot a rocket that hit Dan straight in the face and sent him flying past Danny, Danni, Timepiece, Valerie, Jazz, Maddie, and Jack.
"He's good," Danni said.
Valerie shrugged. "Ghost huntin' is our thing." She pulled up her mask and activated her board.
Dan groaned as he got up and dusted the rubble off him.
"Hey, ghost!"
Dan looked up just in time to see a fist connect to his face. It sent him back another twenty feet, right at a pair of pearly white boots.
"Nice hit," Danny commented, floating up next to Valerie.
"Thanks."
Dan spit out some ectoplasm and slowly got up again.
"Going somewhere?"
The ghost turned around to see Timepiece standing there, arms folded and cape swaying in the wind.
"Ooooh! The apprentice! What are you going to do? Predict my future or something? Ooooh, so scary!" Dan said sarcastically.
Timepiece didn't respond. He raised his staff and sliced it down, releasing a violet stream of ectoplasmic energy from it that nailed Dan in the gut and sent him into a building.
"He's pretty good himself," Valerie said, pulling off her mask.
Danny nodded. "He is pretty good for a kid who never fought another soul in his life before yesterday."
Valerie was about to respond when someone grabbed her by her throat.
"Valerie!" Jack and Maddie yelled.
That got Daniel's attention. He was helping Fishtail up and spun around to see Dan holding his struggling girlfriend by her neck.
"Valerie!" Daniel yelled. "YOU PUT HER DOWN RIGHT NOW!"
Dan held up a glowing green hand. "Move another inch and she dies."
Daniel froze, conflicted. He loved Valerie and wanted to rescue her but he didn't want to die.
Timepiece gripped his staff and floated up behind Dan. He held his staff above his head and attempted to bring it down on his half-ghost counterpart's evil alternate future self's head. Dan quickly spun around and knocked the time staff away. Time gasped as his weapon clattered to the ground out of his reach.
Dan's black glove gripped Time's shirt and lifted him off the ground. "Apprentice of Time? More like Apprentice of the Weak." He threw the ghost against a nearby brick building. He hit it with a sickening crack and collapsed to the ground.
"Time!" Danny yelled, running over to the now unconscious boy.
"On a second thought," Dan said, slyly. "Killing Valerie off is a great idea. Her future self in my dimension gave me some trouble."
Nobody moved.
Dan raised a glowing fist. "Get ready. Val is goin' ghost!"
"NO!" Danny yelled lunging at his future self and grabbed him around the neck.
Annoyed, Dan used his freehand to grab Danny's arm and electrocuted him. The boy howled out in pain before transforming back. Dan merely tossed him to the side.
Shrugging off the attempted interruption, Dan resumed where he was.
Only to have Valerie disappear and reappear looking dazed next to a smirking Danny Fenton holding a black and white time staff and wearing one of Clockwork's medallions.
The futuristic ghost stood gaping for a second before he realized what his past self had done. When he'd run over to Time, he'd taken a time medallion from the unconscious apprentice. When Dan had tossed him aside, he'd landed next to Timepiece's time staff. The boy was friends with Clockwork. There was a pretty good chance he knew how to use a time staff. He'd frozen time and grabbed Valerie and resumed time.
With a growl, Dan opened a portal behind him. "Goodbye, Danny." He spat the boy's name out like it was poison infected with blood blossoms and ectoranium. With that, he was gone.
The Dimension Chasers immediately ran over to Timepiece, attempting to wake him up. Daniel ran over to Valerie.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
The huntress nodded. "I'll be fine."
Daniel sighed and placed a hand on his girlfriend's shoulder. "I want you to go home. Take Mom, Dad, and Jazz with you."
"No!" Valerie yelled. "I want to stay with you."
"And I can't risk you getting hurt!" Daniel yelled.
She was quiet.
"One of us should stay in Dimension 5, Val," Daniel explained. "I-I'm going to join the Dimension Chasers. I'm going to help take down Dan. He's going to pay for what he's done."
Valerie stared at her boots. "Promise me you'll be safe?" she asked in a soft voice.
Daniel nodded and held her hands. "I'll be back, Valerie." He gave her a quick kiss. "Now go. I'll see you when I come back."
She nodded and ran back to Maddie, Jack, and Jazz. She said something and they all ran back to FentonWorks.
Daniel watched them go before running over to the Dimension Chasers. Timepiece groaned as he slowly got up. "My head is killing me." He reached up and brought his hand back, coming away with ectoplasm stained on his glove. "That'll be healed in ten minutes."
"C'mon we've gotta get through before the portal…" Danny trailed off as he noticed the portal starting to shrink.
"NO!" the five of them yelled, leaping at it.
It closed with a "POP".
They collapsed in a heap on the ground, Danny, Fishtail, and Daniel on the bottom and Danni and Timepiece on the top, identical looks of horror in their eyes.
I have nothing to say. From what I'm planning though, the next chapter might be a little short.
